The Holiday Candle was released on December 16th, 2014 as the third surprise in the 12 Days of Christmas event. In 2016, it was the seventh surprise of the 12 Days of Christmas. In 2020, it was the first surprise of 12 Days of Christmas. The Holiday Candle was released again in 2021.Holiday Candle

The candle was obtained with /promo brightlight until December 30th in 2014. In 2016, they were claimed using /promo candle. In 2020, the command was /promo flame. In 2021, the command was /promo holiday21.
In 2022, the candle could be claimed with /promo holiday22. This version of the candle was a soul torch instead of a normal torch, but maintained the special name, lore, and soulbound attribute.
In 2023, the candle could be claimed with /promo holiday23. This version was again a soul torch instead of a normal torch, but maintained the special name, lore, and soulbound attribute.
Due to a bug, the torch could be broken if it was placed and removed by breaking the block it was attached to rather than the torch itself.
In 2020, Krysyy said the following about the candle's existence:
"The Holiday Candle was originally created to pay homage to the various holiday traditions in multiple cultures. At this time and especially during a time like 2020, it’s increasingly important to encourage the expanding of one’s understanding of the other cultures so that we can all learn to respect them, and each other, more."
