The item can be used once to teleport you to the next available level above or below you. If your pointer faces upwards when you right-click while holding it, you will teleport up (e.g. to the top of a tree); if downwards, you will teleport below (e.g. into a cave).
It has no time limit to use it (unlike the Charged Pearl), but can only be used once.
