Why do you have to make these choices so difficult (<== On popular demand) :D 1 vote(s) 2.9%
  1. Right now I dont have an actual storage, mine is just the attic in the cabin on my 1st res.

Edit: even though its small, once I get enough shulker boxes it can hold more than 100 DCs of items

  2. Okay, with everyone posting pics of actual storage rooms. This got me motivated to create a storage room. This is just the first phase.
  3. Some chests:

This is the storage I share with Tomvanwijnen. (since I share everything with Tomvanwjinen) and well, it's kind of messy indeed :p
The chests in the fromt are kind of sorted (on "our side" or the dirt row) all the chests on the left hand side of the residence are for farmed Items that come from our automatic farms (we desabled them by now), The stacks of chests you see in the middle is filled with things Tom's won in auctions, so that are all just DC's, every tower is one item. the upper right is mass storage (for our 50DC of mycellium, 70DC's of cobble etc.) and that gigantic thing on the left upper corner is our shop where we sell Eggs and Cobblestone, just becuase we've got too much, and the place where all promo's are stored (jup we neded more than 20DC for our promo's, why? becuase Tom's winning too many auctions...)

Some more screenshots in case you wondered:

  4. It's nice to finally know more about this intriguing place. :p

  5. Yup, that's ours indeed! :D

Actually! It's not nearly as messy as it might look... for me. Almost all things are labelled well with signs, and in my head I roughly know where most things are. :) And I/we spent quite a while organising the promos & rares neatly, which are located in the left end of the residence (859). ;)

  6. Just an update on my new storage room. Still don't know how I want the ceiling. Keeping it flat isn't going to look good.

  7. My shulker box storage; This is cubfan135's shulker box storage design (with a couple tweaks). It holds a wopping 466,560 items in the 5 chests I have set up for it now. It also can do bulk item storage using the top left chest and will automatically break the shulker boxes when they are full.
  8. Dang.... I forgot about shulker boxes. Now I'll need to rethink of someway to incorporate them into my new storage room.
  9. Mine is a WIP, I work on it when i have nothing else to do. Its 2 reses, and 4 floors with 5 rows per floor.

Its designed for Bulk Storage of items. I hope that one day i will finish.

If you want to base yours off mine, please ask me, thx.

  10. OK thought I would show the storage at the Mansion Oupost before the façade goes in, im kind of a hourder in minecraft.

  11. I have a Similar setup at my base, One of them has a System I call "Ice Cube Tray" and it has rooms that fills up in a ice cube tray. and has a option to turn on so it does, or flow through as if it was not on.

    Here is a example;

As you can see there is a lot of chests (350) per side and one base has 8 of these setup. hehe

  12. Thanks for sharing all those cool pictures guys, some of you have very impressive storages!

So I ran into a problem last week: what to do when your bulk storage gets too bulky?

The main idea behind my bulk storage is quite simple: add 1 stack quantities and by the time a DC fills up I'll either have something to sell off in an auction or I'll probably find another use for it. But what if you don't? I've been going crazy with clay as of late, and I keep forgetting that I already have 1 DC of brick blocks. Yet the very moment I come across clay blocks I can't help jump into the water and start digging :D

First I gave all my bricks away to Aya who is using them in her house-like-project structure thing. But after 4 DC's (give or take) and adding a /vault page she declined getting any more. So something had to be done

So I added 2 more sections to my bulk storage. The first is simply an extra floor, comparable to what I already had but it simply uses a different color scheme:

    24DC's worth of dirt :D

Then I discovered that despite an earlier believe I wasn't working directly near the edge of my residence. There was actually room "behind" this row of chests, and that got me thinking.. Surely I should be able to come up with something a little more creative?

I know this isn't super special, but for someone with my design skills I also think it's not too bad either. The center provides all the light and it's basically 48 extra DC's (24 on each side, the white strip (entrance) divides the 2 areas).

Right side of my "bulk storage extension".

The main purpose behind this section is 2 fold: the original idea is to have 16 DC's which are going to be used for every type (color) of hardened clay. That should give me something new to do and it might start a nice collection.

Next are 16 DC's (8 on each side) which will be used as "overflow". So the moment something has filled up in my bulk storage then I'll dump everything else I get in here. Right now this is used for hardened clay, bricks and sand but it'll be soon followed up for rails, gunpowder and some purpur blocks.

It's kinda funny... Every time I work on a storage I need to think back about Skyrim. The first moment I had my own house (in Whiterun) I immediately filled up every chest I could find with all sorts of stuff. Even had a whole division between materials to sell, to experiment with, armor, enchantment materials, etc.

(and I still need to laugh at the idea of a small bed cupboard being stuffed with (extremely heavy) dragon bones and scales and a huge collection of swords and armor :D).

But the more stuff I dumped into those chests the more lag the game started to create (PS3 version, which wasn't very good to begin with). But fortunately you don't suffer from that in Minecraft :)

  13. I love a good storage room. Here is one I share with a good friend...

Someday I'll hire someone to throw some pixel art over the dirt walls. :D

  15. I store things here...

    and here...

Until I have a full DC of something and then it goes here...

Until I finish this project of an auto sorter for at least the stackable items here...

Gonna make that 12 DC deep and pretty it up too. :) The sorter wraps around my entire res.
  16. Couple hundred some-odd item sorter, arranged into halls by block type. Currently three levels deep, working on making it deeper for more items!

  17. I found this storage system on a youtube video that luckily had a schematic. It automatically sorts any item I put into the 'dump chest'; all special items are filtered out at the end.

  18. I know I’m bumping an old thread, I loaf sorting stuff and storages... needed some inspiration for my storage 7.0 ( I think idk I lost track I can’t stick to a design haha)

Anyone have any more bootiful storages

    Soooo
your gonna need a lot of buttons.
    and a lot of shulkers.
you have say 100 basic items you use on a daily bases and you assign buttons to all of them.
its a basic sorter but here's the catch.
Shulker box fillers ill be under each item.
you press a button and the shulker box fills with either 1 full shulker of the item or it will fill it with how many items you have of that item :)

Ask Yix to help you aka do all the hard work,

The thing it self I sent that hard but the comparator is gonna be a bit challenging. This type of sorter is normally used for bulk items

  20. So... Tom and I changed storages... It was designed during the summer of 2019 and constructed during my christmas break of that year. The design took ~70 hours, the building a little under 30.
(All screenshots are taken from the creative design world, since I can fly around there, but it can be visted on EMC via /v 752)
This is the double-res monstrosety :p

The first thing you might notice is the aestethics... What you're looking at is the side-vieuw of a flying ship docking area, featuring, first and formost, this ship. which I designed specifically for this residence:

This rather sizeble build was constructed in two parts, first the gigantic baloon, after that the aestethics around it. The inside of the balloon has a purpuse... This is what it looks like in creative: (find this on EMC with /v 753)

As you can see, we moved 859 inside a baloon, well, we are busy doing so. I coulnd't find a way to store the random item imput Tom and I have from auctions and random buying sprees of items that seem cheap. Each chest you see here will store one item time, and can get chests on top of it for 8 high, when we have more than a DC of that item type. The chests themselves are organised in some way.
I will add that I am quite surprised with how the aestethics of this turned out. It is quite low-effort, (the majorety made with two commands in worldedit) but I find it looking quite good, and, this was the reason for setteling on it, I haven't jet grown tiered with it.

Under the balloon there is the docking area. Let's start with what is on the first screenshot the right side:

The walls of the indent docking area are all chest walls. All these chests are automatically sorted, with a variaty of techniques depending on what the item type [stackable / non stackable] and the quantety of the item demands.
This system is meant for building and such: It's mainly my home. I still need to adopt it to 1.15 as my vault piles up with unsorted random items.
This place also features two side areas, one of which deals with gear and enchantments and such, the other features a small smeltry, potion brewer, water bucket filler, that sort of stuff.

On the other side of the road edit, the aestethics are a lot more involved, but, as it turns out, compleatly useless from a storage perspective (though I like the shulker boxes used as wall blocks)

This are the trains that, in the aestethics of the build, take the items shipped by the flying ship, and destribute them to more places. This is what the docking area is made to do.
For the people who don't know: Tom is obsessed with trains.

Looking at the first screenshot, however, you can see there is something under there.

This is that. This is the bulk storage for items we get from our outpost, which we want to store in town.
You might ask "do you have an outpost with farms that produce items?" the answer to that, of course, is no. We do not. We made this in the hypothetical situation that we might. (we have some plans that get endlessly pushed further into the future)

The redsone needs some resigning by now: it was constructed with the idea that we would have to empty all our shulkers and the bring the items in as items to this place, after which they were sorted into chests. Now, however, the shulker boxes are brought in filled, which means that the sorted needs a shulker box emptying system on top, which can also be a sorter in itself, which woiuld be a lot more lagg-efficient than just plopping an emptier system on top of what we currently have.

One aspect that might be intersted though, is the storage itself:

As some of you might know: a hopper with items in it that tries to fill an alredey filled chest creates a lot more lagg than an empty hopper. For this reason, I decited I wanted to lock the hoppers that are not in use. For that I created a system that detects when items are flowing in, to then move the stone+redstone blocks down one block, which unlocks the hoppers in thwo colums. these get automatically closed after some time. This can also be activated form the inside.
Also activcatable from the inside, is a clock that stops the hoppers from getting locked in a small colum for a few hours. I managed to archeive this delay by taking two clocks , one with delay x and one with delay x+1, that turn off when in sync. Because x and x+1 are semiprime (no number exept 1 devides both,) they are only in sync once every x^2 + x seconds. This way, instead of creating one clock that lasts six hours, I could create a clock that lasts 2 min, something quite a lot easier. (I am quite proud of this one)

This is the pulse extender that lasts 6 hours:
It can be made to last up to 36, I believe :p

    Anyway...

There is a lot more I can share about this place. It's quite large, and really overdesigned. It also has quite a few fun random things, and some really usefull and less noticeble redstone. Did you know every room has a rendstone lamp indicating if it is either usefull to afk at this place, not usefull, or nessecairy to not break anything.? :p

That's it for this one, I suppose :p
