For a parent employed in education dying before age of retirement. I think all of us (my brother, sister and I) receive it monthly between the ages of 18 and 24, or something like that. I'm not quite sure why (maybe they assume that if my father was still alive he might have given me financial support?), but it's welcome. ;)

Ahh, I see! Your assumption seems right to me, that's also what happens for me: I don't have to worry about money yet and don't need to get a loan because my parents care for everything. And, as I'm still living at home, the only extra money spent for my studies is a couple of books per year and the yearly fee, so it's not that much more anyways. :)

To the points your trying to make:
        1) No, that is not what Solipsism is. Look it up again.
        2) “Vengelance instead of turning the other cheek” is exactly what the LaVey activists are doing: Christians do something wrong, and they push back just as hard in response.

All three responses, by the way, are written as one small continues essay, of which I post one (or maybe two) paragraphs per comment.

        1. I said "practical solipsism". Engaging in public spectacle and finding a response extraordinary would involves a particularly self-centered state of mind.
        2. I haven't mentioned Christianity and it is irrelevant with respect to my line of query. I would presume if you lived in a predominantly Muslim nation for example your viewpoint would he the same.
        3. Thanks for your time.

The only thing humans are worse at than not killing eachother is predicting the future. We always expect utopia, where in fact we tend to get smarter ways to do the stupid stuff we have always been doing.
      1. Joy_the_Miner
        Joy_the_Miner
I agree with that statement. I also enjoy how we used to think that "flying cars" would be the future, or how in the 50's (in America at least), they tried to predict what our lifestyles would be in the year 2000. Boy were they dead wrong. Such an interesting species humans are, yeah?

        Well... Not really...
It's a joke, where the joke lies in that correlation doesn't always mean causation. Indeed, People in wheelchairs have a worse health on average, but that is not because the wheelchair made them have that worse health, that is because if you have a bad health, there is a change you have to get a wheelchair.
Explained the joke for you, now it's no longer funny :P

Not as in: How to use the statistical methods, but as in: How to mathematically proof the statistical methods are true, even the very obscure ones.
