Today I learnt that in the USA, there is no distinction between university and college; they're the same thing. There's not much of vocational training either. After secondary, you don't go different paths but you go up to a different point. Thanks, Rhy and waffle! Sep 22, 2020 at 2:24 PM

I find it peculiar that it seems that in high school everyone has to do somewhat the same level of lessons. Here there is quite a clear difference between what people had to do, and I'm fairly sure that if you were to try everyone to do our highest level, most people wouldn't manage it.

Indeed, it is peculiar. Maybe the level of secondary education is just lower? Or they tailor education towards each student? That would be ideal, but seems infeasible. And sounds very un-American on top of it. :P

What makes my situation a lot worse is that I have been hearing my bloodflow for the past 100 hours. My left ear being completely stuffed after preparing to go to the general practitioner's but there being no space. And now I had to cancel the appointment I did have, of course.

I got ill... :/ and I can't get a COVID-19 test, despite having to teach at university (they didn't even ask about that, which is strange, as I thought I would get priority).

Frankly, even if I knew I didn't have COVID-19 I might not want to get into public, as I might spread the common cold I probably have, and as such put other people into an awkward situation. Honestly, I'd be happy if it turned out that I _do_ have COVID-19, as in that case all the hoopla would seem a bit more useful. :P

:P maybe, if you have just a cold, you could wear a mask outside, as that'll help with preventing to spread it. :)

Why do some people on EMC that seem fairly mature neglect using capitalisation and punctuation? I hope they aren't all depressed... :(

I try to keep at it, but the subject wasn’t ever my best. Truly, as CD pointed out, if the point is understood, that is what matters most. Not how formal it is written.

Yes, but in this case it doesn't. I am left to guess whether 'the point' includes the person in question being depressed or not. In some cases it's obvious they are, in others it's obvious they are not, but in most it's left ambiguous to me.

YouTube is going to remove the community contributions to closed captions. They probably aren't going to change plan, because it's YouTube, but please do sign this petition if you think this would be a bad choice. http://chng.it/94MTZjS7BC

Watched WALL-E with the study association today. :) It was an online event. I ended up organising a big part of it, because we only realised two days ago that we had a film scheduled for this evening, and I had the most time and the most technical knowledge. :P Amazing film!

It's nice to rewatch or reread a detective, and figure out all the hints that were dropped.
My favourite instance of this ever is actually the play my study association did last year, which had both a detective story and a huge plot twist; for both of which many hints were dropped throughout the rest of the play. I didn't play in it myself, but I did see it all four times. :D

SGDQ2020 did not have a venue; because of COVID-19 everything was done through the internet. However, it was still a very enjoyable event! My highlights: Millennium Racer, VB Wario Land, M&L Paper Jam, Night Trap, Baba Is You, Sly Cooper and the Super Mario Bros. games.

As much as I have enjoyed the action and strategy Mario games are packed with, Super Mario Kart is sooo difficult! By no means, is that an easy feat. I have it on SNES cartridge, not pc. Those points on your video are so spot on!! Congrats on your victory!

I was playing it on Switch Lite. I was intending to get an SNES for a while, but the Switch Lite seemed great for me (because I love handhelds), and it includes most of the classic NES and SNES games. :) At least all those made by Nintendo themselves.

The heatwave is ongoing. It's wearing me out, I've got to say. I'm grateful for the -2nd floor I have in my house, but sitting underground for most of my waking hours isn't pleasant either.

[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]Find the Rubber Ducky It seems that always the latter part of this verse is featured. But what came to my eye today is Mordecai's faith that his people, God's people, will be saved even if Esther does not play the role she might be meant to play. For if you remain completely silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father’s house will perish. Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for [such] a time as this?” Esther 4:14
