  1. Ah, I thought us three had problems with it because we're Dutch.

  2. So to move forward from here, instead of batting away the suggestion with no alternative mentioned, what is something that WOULD help you as of this point? What ideas would you propose that would be amicable to the community as a whole. Please keep in mind the survey results in the OP.

  3. Use a different word than AFK - rephrase the point 4 to make it understandeble for people who like using words the way they're officially defined.

    And fix this, please:
Maybe, a little bit differently said: Be more precies with how you formulate the rules please: make sure there are no loopholes or possebileties of misunderstanding. Both of them are there now.

  4. Sure.

Can you please rephrase the following without using the term AFK, so I can understand what you mean?

  5. Please suggest a replacement.
It means that you should be able to respond within 3 minutes were your account to be interacted with.

  6. You're still not defining anything...
Also, you're making both a circular reasoning and contredicting yourself here... I hope you see that yourself...
  7. The term that you need to suggest a replacement for should be equivalent to not being able to respond in a timely manner, were your account to be interacted with.

  8. Congratz. you just found what you want. Now insert that where you say "afk" and mean that, and don't where you mean the original way of saying afk :)

    Also, this one here works:

  9. Make the term "Away from tab" or AFT or something, because you may be away from keyboard, but you could also be in another tab... Idk, something along the lines of that

  10. In any case, I suggest the following:

If I correctly understand what you mean, something like "not actively looking at the minecraft client you're interacting with"?

  11. Now define that in an easy to remember phrase that is easy to understand. Put yourself in the eyes of a newer player. How do you better define it so that someone can understand easily if they are coming from another server?

  12. away from tab

  13. Does every player immediately understand your definition of AFK then? And isn't that your job? Furthermore, what I said is easy to remember and makes sense as a concept.

Also, can you please reply to my other question and my other suggestion?

  14. Isn't that your job? Also: Isn't your "AFK" a very good example of somthing that would be very very misunderstandeble. Also: maybe make something as an exactly defined ruleset for people like me, as I have troubles undersanding that that is not exactly defined. (That's the reason I love maths: everything is exactly defined) (I do also like Otus' version: It's not as exactly defined: but works)

I would suggest a "bottomline" ruleset: one for people who don't really care and just do things casually, and a ruleset that is exactly defined, like real life law, so people like me can understand it too.

Please keep in mind there are quite a lot of people like me, I don't know how many on EMC, but quite a lot In real life, who have problems with understanding not exactly defined things.

  15. The majority of players are defining AFK as to mean not being actively online. So when you don't respond immediately someone usually follows up with 'are you AFK?'.

Regarding it being my job, that is the purpose of this thread. It's an active discussion about how we go from survey to official rule changes, and all the steps along the way. The community has expressed a desire to be involved in the decision process before items are final, so I'm providing that. I could have certainly changed the rules and set them in stone and say here you go, but I'm not doing that for a reason here.

Regarding your suggestion, that is about how we note someone as AFK and your preference to it being chat based direct personal message, and not the actual time limit, correct?
  16. I think it's time to slow down, guys. :)

Perhaps we'll all get a new idea for the term 'AFK' once we step away and do some other stuff. ;)
  17. Actually doing some further research on Macros and regarding the fact I have never used Macros but I did recently see someone use them. I think they should not be used at all. This is contrary to my original thoughts on Macros but I do see them as an abuse that gives an unfair advantage to players who understand coding and modding. Young players and even myself cannot figure out how to install them. To people who use this in the market it is unfair. I work very hard in vanilla minecraft to stock my mall, and preform all of my actions without macros and now suddenly a few individuals can come in and dance circles around me with their Macros! No, I do not think we should allow them. I feel kinda stupid thinking they didn't affect me. They affect all of us because in it of themselves they allow abuse of the economy. These are my final comments on Macros.

  18. I think so, yes.

Suggestion: to check if someone isn't at their screen, send them an ingame PM, and if they don't respond, send them another one. Should they then not respond, a kick is fair. Should the response seem like it could have been automated, ask them a "complicated" question (e.g. how is the weather?, what day is it?).

The majority is not enough, for something to be put in the rules it must be concrete with one and only one correct, universally seen definition, so no misunderstands can occur.

  19. This is unfortunately not possible. There will always be someone who claims they don't understand something as simple as "don't touch what isn't yours" or"griefing". You're talking about a game server with players from all over the place: age, culture, reading ability, etc. One size can't fit all, but we settle for what fits most.
  20. But at least then the factually correct term is used.

Can you please respond to the first part of my post?
