I was wrong.

Very happy England massively overachieved though. I've lived through five World Cups and this is the first time I've ever been happy to support them.

I hope this is the start of something that we can carry through to the end in Qatar in 2022.

Your team done well and got further than was expected 3 weeks ago. It does bode well for you in Qatar. If the media had not suddenly changed tunes from berating the England team to FOOTBALL IS COMING HOME!!!111!! I too would have welcomed an England win.

Same to be honest, I don't know how crazy they're going in Croatia, but if it's anything less than this stupid "it's coming home" then I feel like they more than deserved to win.

I know a lot of people worldwide have took some kind of offence to "its coming home" but i'd like to point out this is a 20 year old meme that we use every world cup. The only reason youre seeing it now is because weve finally got past the round of 16/groups.

That being said, i think a lot of casual english fans started to catch on and get annoying with it, in the end its all good fun, nobody seems to really identify with english humour though.

Aaaand I don't have to build a statue. England wasted so much time during the game by diving and delaying, got what they deserved ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

You have to agree that in a group with Panama and Tunisia, it would be stupid to bet they wouldn't win at all, but I'll build something.

It might have been stupid, but that doesn't mean you can't stick to your word. I'm looking forward to seeing what you build.

Personally, I usually like English homour, so it's not that, but even here in the Netherlands I was seeing that "it's coming home" thing all the time, and I saw a video with some English people (of multiple ages, younger too) acting a bit crazy around that thing.

Probably what bothers be most is that the sentence doesn't logically make much sense to me. "it's coming home"? "What is? You? "
I believe to remember that it was because "football was coming back to England", which, meh, makes it a bit more acceptable, but still.

That was a phenomenal game by both teams. First one I was able to sit down and watch the whole thing for luckily. England put up a good fight and came very close to tying it up a couple times!
That yellow card made me laugh

Glad to hear we put up a fight and almost came close to scoring. I didn't get to watch and only saw notifications on my phone telling me lost 2-0 and thought maybe we'd played like lobotomised monkeys devoid of purpose.

They certainly didn’t play their best, but they kept pressure on the goal and had good defense. Belgium has some awesome plays too, though
