  3. Hahahahaha ... I'm not sharing my age with y'all but I will say that I fell in love with mc and played single player for a while before ever venturing to a server. That was mostly due to the fact that I had very very limited internet access back then. The first server I landed on is where I stayed for a while.. made some fast friends there that I still have today. =D As luck would have it I was also a mod there too for a bit until they had to shut down due tech difficulties for a while. I still pop back over for a bit from time to time... roots ya know. =] As much as I enjoyed aspects of the server I was craving a more mature place I could go. I looked and looked and was getting so disappointed that all the servers out there were the same... pvp, griefing each other was a good thing , townies, clans... always warring. :( That is just not me. I did find a place that was more mature and they were nice but... everything was done already and the space was limited. no one really talked to each other except in pm's. uuugh! I could do all that in single player. =/ I had almost given up when I stumbled onto emc. Honestly... I was not blown away to begin with. o_o No one talked to me and most ignored me when I asked any question. Not all though. =] I headed out into the wild and was lost having no idea about the live map or how to chat to anyone. lol.. I was on my ooold laptop and I could only use it on  ..render 2. Ya, I know. ok.. trying to shorten this up a bit .. I went back and forth from emc to mod'ing on the first server for a while. One of the admin's, Kai, built my lovely computer for me. I was so wowed! the first time I got to actually see more than render 2 and I could move! Oh glory day!!! :D .. and a sunset. I just stood there watching from my tree house I had made (on render two) and marveled at my surroundings. Now i thought, with knowledge under my belt and being able to see I'd finally find my way back to town. o_o I was right next to a path that lead straight to the spawn area. >_> I had not even known it was there before. lol
I will conclude with this.. I love it here and I won't be going anywhere. I've brought some friends with me to emc .. some have stayed and some have drifted away even as we stay in touch in other ways. I love being a mod an d being able to help and I try to always say hello to a new person. They could be someone like me.. searching for a good community to call home. sigh... yeah, I got it all here.
ps~ I too have those friends that tell me that I'm too old to play kids games. I just smile and say, "Yea, I'm sure yer right. I'm the only adult who plays." :)

  4. I wouldn't dare ask. My father taught me long ago:
There are 3 things you NEVER ask a lady:

    - REAL Age

    -REAL Weight

    -REAL Hair Color

    ;)!

Edit: I have no idea how my post ended up purple or how to fix it

  5. You should've started it with [/COLOR] ;)

Oh, I know that feeling... in the first years I played Minecraft I could only play on Tiny render distance too, and I was used to it.
When I had finally gotten a new graphics card, I was amazed by the sky changing colour and the stars and the sun visible... and I noticed two of my bases which I thought were 100's if not 1000's of blocks apart only had about 40 blocks of forest in between them

  6. Hmm a little about me..... Well first off No significant other and no kids I just turned 29 last month as for anything else well Im an open book if you want to ask me questions. As to what got me started in Mine craft and gaming... well I started out on the Nintendo pretty much even a big gamer ever since. My dad works in computers and was big into certain games the Civ series to be exact and that got me hooked there. Always been a big fan of RPG's and Simulators like civ and kind of scoffed at the idea of Mine Craft at first. It was actually me playing Terraria (Yes Shock right still play that on occasion to) and my my brother and cousin that got me into Mine craft and I do enjoy it quite a bit.

AS for servers this is my first serious go on a server Most of my Multiplayer is from playing on a relm my Older cousin owns. Hardly anyone gets on their lately though so I looked fore a server to try out. Joined this one after liking what I read and am enjoying it so far. I am big on family (even if half mine on my moms side would disown me) so anythingplace that is family friendly is big in my books I have some younger cousins that play (well just the pocket edition right now) and to find a server where they could probably join me later on is kind of cool.

AS for people saying this is a kids game well then to toes I say just because therie to much of a foggy to be a kid at times does not mean I cant :p
  7. I am a lifelong fan of legos and computer games (I grew up in a gamer household). I was sold onto the idea of a digital creativity toy with monsters in it after watching a "Zero Punctuation" episode reviewing it. I ended up purchasing it while it was still in beta and played it off and on until around 2 years ago when I discovered there were non-pvp/non-creative multiplayer options available. I fooled around a bit but was mostly disappointed/frustrated until I decided to try out EMC and I have been hooked ever since. I was so nervous/anxious that first month on EMC I wonder if there is still anyone that remembers?

  9. Soo.. First year of college for me :p New Zealand is weird for schools :p I just started as a teen on feb and in college, failing :) I came here cause.. Does a teen qualify as a young adult? ;)

    Also, sorry for bumping this

  10. Weeelll, since I was last here I turned 16. I guess I can qualify as a young adult now.

I can drink (I've made good use of this one and will continue to do so lol), smoke, ride a moped (also the first step towards a motorcycle license), marry someone (I abstain from this for another at least 9 years thx), I can legally do sexy things (nobody has offered yet though), travel abroad without an adult (I have no money or a passport though), get a job (I abstained from this for another few months at least), I have a usable National Insurance Number, I can now register to vote (which I keep planning to do but my mum is the one with my details I need and she doesn't 'see the point' of me being registered, since the next election isn't until I'm 20...), and I start college in a month and 10 days, I also get my first qualifications in under a month. I can also start a business now (kinda wanna do that).

Stuff's gotten scary. I don't even have a job yet lol.

  11. The clear solution is to skip 16 and move straight to 17, so you don't have to do exams. That's how it works, right?

  12. 22 years of age, of which nearly 5 years of EMC (oct 6th 2011). Yup. I joined that long ago...

Used to play a lot on other dutch MC servers but they eventually all went down due to insufficient funding. Went looking for new servers, as any avid MC Multiplayer would, and found EMC after about 6 failed 'hmm this looks like fun' server attempts. I even had the honor of being walked to my residence by JustinGuy himself :p. Have been playing on and off ever since. Some see me as an urban EMC legend, some say my name is well known on other servers as well? I just know I'm having a good time and im sure will continue to do so for quite a while :)

Anyway, I'm one of the happy adult players on EMC, I have some great friends here and a second online family that I very much enjoy playing with!

    Thank you, Thank you all!

  13. Age; adult :)
My wife was playing minecraft way before me, and in the early days she asked for my help to find a good server, (being sick of unprofessional run servers), we found emc. I then returned to my usual games, but after a year of listening to her talking about EMC, and how much she enjoyed it, I bought it and logged into (in hope to suprise her) and never looked back. Oh, she new it was me straight away, she knows the names I use, lol.
I guess it was inevitable, as a kid I also loved Lego, so this is a natural progression.

Oh, I generaly keep my gameplaying to myself, I find so many adults dont understand, which in itself is weird, as we all grew up during the gaming boom.. yes, Ive been a gamer since space invaders was new...

  14. Lol, that would assume so (& true legally) but really it's very circumspect. =] I've met 12 yr olds that were far above and beyond their years and vise versa. => .. for me.. nope! not gonna grow up and ya can't make me. =p
I'm with cavie on this.. loved imaging/building stuff way before mc.. was a perfect fit. =]

  15. Here you're not officially an adult until you're 18, but you get most of your freedoms and such at 16. You get to drive a car at 17, and you're able to buy alcohol and cigarettes (you can consume them at 16, but aren't able to purchase them for reasons unknown to me), vote, and be able to get deployed in the army at 18 (can join at 16 as a form of continued education), and that's pretty much all you have left to get. It's nice :p
I have college exams for my IT/Computer Science qualification days after I turn 17 too :p

My exams will probably only stop when I'm 19 unless I decide to do Uni :(
    607 and SirTah like this.

  16. So college is what high school is for us and uni is what our college is?
    SirTah likes this.
  17. I think so. College for us isn't absolutely 100% required (forced continued education is only a requirement for people who turned 16 from September 1st, 2015 - August 31st, 2016), from what I can tell High School in America is required.

(Optional) Pre-School: 2-4 years of age
Primary School: 4 - 11 years of age
Secondary School: 11 - 16 years of age
College/Apprenticeship (a job where you learn a trade and skills)/Sixth Form (basically just a crappier version of a college)/Some kind of military service: 16 - 18, 16-19 in some cases.

If that helps clear it up or not :p

  18. In the USA though, many college and university courses are the same. High school is grades 9-12, and college/university are after that. It was very hard convincing potential employers in Sweden that my associate's degree from the USA was actually at their university level year 1 and 2!

In Sweden, grades 10-12 are more career-oriented and the students have the practical equivalent of an associate's degree when they finish, except no university accepts those credentials in place of the courses they offer. I love that my kids were both very specialized when they graduated from the Swedish high school. My son went on after going to a graphic design and computer programming high school to attend a highly specialized computer game programming school (technically not college or university, but more like a trade school - there is a big difference here beween the three).
My daughter finished her nursing 'high school' with a nurse's aid education and has been working in the birthing center here as midwife assistant.

  19. I'm in my, erm, late twenties ^.^ I used to game a little on and off growing up but I worked full time in the summers throughout high school and college and I wasn't *great* with balancing work, school, and home, so little gaming occurred. I got into Minecraft after looking for some concrete area and perimeter lesson plans a few years ago. After finally surviving the 5 day tutorial, I downloaded it.
A year or two later, my students were all abuzz with Minecraft this and Minecraft that. They brought in plush creepers to help self-calm and traded keychains. At that point, single player had become pretty redundant and I looked for something new, finding EMC. I certainly don't advertise to students that I play on a server, but Minecraft has given me great rapport with them. They love telling me their stories and I know just the right questions to ask in return.

  20. 38 here. I enjoy lego, so enjoying minecraft seems quite a logical followup :D

As for how I found emc... Well, I just picked a server randomly from a list of 'builder-oriented' ones. I used to play on a Factions server before, but I quickly realized that the fighting part didn't interest me much; my fun was in building those huge castles, redstone traps and other mazes.
