Mandatory MC Account Migration

  1. Not sure I agree, most internet login systems have some system to allow for a change of email address, as lost email accounts is quite a common issue. Many cable providers and companies offer email service, and they can easily be lost when you move or change services.

  2. There was never a need to access the email address, because it was only used as a login name.

I know that in one case it is because the owner of the email address has sadly passed away. Bit hard to deal with that, I'd say. Especially because it's an ISP email address that has long since disappeared into the void of unexistence. The three security questions are therefore also hard or impossible to answer.
  3. Most? I don't think so. Mail services do, and some other services also offer options to add a phone number, for instance, but I think this is actually quite rare. Twitter and Facebook probably do, but those seem a lot bigger than Minecraft. Although to be frank, Minecraft is extremely big too, now, and very important to probably thousands of people. So they should add such options. ... which is probably one of the reasons why they're doing the migration, actually. ;)
  4. Uh, yeah, and the conclusion seemed to be that they wouldn't do something like that. :p
I think the deadline you're thinking of when saying 'abundantly clear' is that of being able to play without having your account migrated to Microsoft. :)
  5. I find the opposite. I dont use many social apps, but I use numerous banks, forums, image hosting, etc, and almost all have a method of updating an email address.

  6. Can't you change your email address by logging into the website once and then changing the email address

As for security questions if you can't remember them then I think it may be that that account is gone

  7. true, but they have an infinite loop built in. If you never added security questions before, the only way to add them is via an email link, so if you no longer have access to your email..... well....

  8. Update for me:
Thank the lord for security questions. I was able to change my email for CatNapInn without having to access that lost email it seems because I remembered all the answers I think, at least that is what it says. Now to try this for my other account, which shouldn't be a problem anyways since I can just tell my mom to change it if I get stuck lol

  9. That is surprising. Maybe the services I use are too obscure. ;) It's also possible that many have an option I don't know of.
But hey, I suppose it doesn't matter anymore, as it turns out Minecraft has this option too. :D Or at least Mojang accounts do.
  10. Has anyone's account been migrated yet?
I find it weird that I now have to log in pretending to have a Mojang account, while I do not... (well, I have one, but I don't have one for 607)
  11. i migrated one of my accounts a month ago
  12. I did not see this earlier, MultiMC finally has MS account support

  13. I migrated just other day..... Not happy about it but whatever, not a big deal either. Unless you are referring to being forced, I switched before that happened :)

  14. I’ve migrated a few times already the process is easy and in the end you get a cape.. It’s not a rare cape because thousands of people will have but it’s cool to have a cape anyway. It doesn’t really bother me having to login via Microsoft instead of mojang.
  15. This is about what my problem is! Only other way, according to them, is proof of purchase/credit card details....from 2012. So, dead-end there.

I expect to be locked out of this, hence will be transitioning to my alt DrasCorp, but if I do find a way to migrate later will post here.

@Raaynn...is there a way to move Tokens to another account?
  16. Oh, you can migrate voluntarily? I thought all accounts had to be eliged first.

In account loss ou can have SS transición your reses and so forth, I would ask SS if that includes rupees and tokens...
  18. At the very bottom of the launcher screen I had 2 notices, 1 was "We have begun migrating some Mojang accounts to Microsoft accounts. If you have not already migrated, you'll be notified when your account can be migrated. " The other was along the same line with "Get started" That option was always there. Once and a while I would get a pop up saying I could start migrating now. I would have to either start migrating or close it out to login with Mojang. I closed it out several times before finally deciding to migrate. I did it with an alt 1st to test it out. Then when I wanted to do my main the pop up wouldn't show and I found the "Get started" tab at the bottom and did it that way.

  19. You can volunteraly migrate once able till 2023 i think it was then they will give a warning that this is your last chance to and then they will start deleting ones that have not been done but that's like 2 years probably before that happens

  20. I am not 100% sure if you have had this answered or fixed, but I retrieved 3 of my accounts from an email I did not have access to. Whole process took maybe a month for all 3 accounts.

You just need to provide the email that it was under and let them know you no longer have access to that email. They will verify a couple of bits of information with you before they transfer the account to a new email.

If you somebody doesn't respond to you after a week, just submit a new request.
