  1. Update:

Just a quick update. Just to be advised, if you are going to send in a large quanity of songs, I would highly appreciate if you break it down to 1-3 songs, I can't review everything. If you want the best review though, please send one song, because if there are way more to review I will usually review them quickly and that's not good for you or for me haha.

Also, do not forgot that I review bands, genres, musicians and other musical pieces! I am a Music Snob, not only a Song Snob! I also will not fully review a band I have 0 experience with, so most of the time I will put the suggestion down, unless I'm up for the research :)

Also, note my favourite genres are Classic Rock, Prog Rock, Hard Rock, Psychadelic, Blues rock, Heavy Metal, Doom/Sludge/Stoner Metal and Glam metal, etc. I typically like music between the eras of 60-90s (90s though is usually a few select rock groups of dying glam metal bands) As for artists, I can review recently very popular artists and famous artists of years past, those would be the most easiest for me to review, but if you are going to send me some songs, this is just a heads up, suggest whatever :)

As always, keep sending them, I want more! And I want them diverse! Thank you :)

  2. Well, this part you got right. ;)
This is the third iteration. For some reason I really like them, though. I also really like some of the oldest songs from the original line-up, from the late '90s and early 2000's.
The generation I'm in is the one that grew up with the original line-up, and as such, it is sometimes referenced at school... it usually takes some time before people believe I am seriously a fan, as a 19-year old male. ;)

I'll give you some jazz, as we haven't seen that yet.
South Bridge, from SimCity 3000 (a soundtrack to a video game, but it features real genres, namely New Age and Jazz, and I also recognise Minimalism in some tracks)

Edit: I am also curious what you think of Jazz in general, as you said you could review genres.
  3. Ten Tonne Skeleton by Royal Blood.

No music video for that though so you can do I Only Lie When I Love You by them if you need one.

    SimCity 3000 - South Bridge
    [Jazz genre]
    Suggested by: 607

The song itself was great :)
It had a swingy, yet relaxed ton, great trumpet playing, simple piano riffs, simple bass, and SIMPLE drums. (When I mean simple, I don't know if it's actually really hard, but It's just rhythmic, so it seems simple)
All of these instruments mold together to form a perfect jazz song, and it worked!
Overall, very jazzy, semi-relaxing and good brain fuel. I wouldn't listen to it on a normal basis, but I would definitely do if I was studying or relaxing!
    Grade: "="

As for Jazz itself, I can't not appreciate it as a genre. Although, not my favourite, I respect the amount of talent Jazz musicians have, I mean, in guitar playing their style TOTALLY shifts, it's like relearning the guitar, the chords are crazy! I also respect jazz for the reason it was one of the founding genres of Rock n Roll, so if jazz never existed, Rock today wouldn't ever be the same.
For those reasons, I can respect Jazz a lot, as it takes time and talent, too bad they play 1000 chords for 3 people while pop musicians play 3 chords for 1000 people :(. With that said though, I appreciate the task that Jazz has had on Rock music, but I still wouldn't call it my favourite genre, and I wouldn't go out and listen to it just there and then. Jazz music however is perfect for studying or chilling out. It's perfect brain food, like classical music. It can also be used for quiet background music if you're playing a game. Usually, when I play minecraft I play spotify on the background and it's usually playing very heavy music, so a lot of times I can get distracted. But I thank you for getting me interested in Jazz again, because when I work on my projects EMC and in real life, I might consider playing jazz.

The song is pretty intense and hearty, I like it! Its lead guitar though I must say is unique and compelling, but It can get really annoying at times. Although, the drums and the other instruments are very intense and meaty, I like it quite a bit. The vocalist does a fair bit too, he's pretty good at what he does :). As for the music video itself, I don't fully understand it, but I assume it's about murder and betrayal?
Other than that, the song is very intense and hearty, the guitar can be annoying at that time though, yet still sounding cool! All instruments are vocalists voice are blended well, song is good even for modern rock.

    Suggested by: AltPunisher

Very sludgy and beefy guitar riff, I like it a lot, it brings authority to the song and makes it stand out. Seriously, I love that riff. The drums are simply done yet bring a good beat, I really like that cow bell that rings out throughout the song. All of it makes for a sludgey, beefy and groovy song which I adore. The vocalist seems very punkish, but he is quite good, although I do hear auto tune. Wow, I just realized they're a duo, and they're pretty good! They work together extremely well, they deserve any fame they have, it's not easy being a duo in a rock band. They really do remind me of Black Pistol Fire though, they are a Dirt Rock band basically, they have a really gritty, sludgey and dirty tone and are a duo I believe, exactly like these guys.

Note: Oops I accidently clicked on Better Strangers from theirs, and holyyy I thought modern rockers were dying out, these guys are still rocking. The riff is very meaty and dirty for that song as well and has good drum kicks,

Overall, they work very well together and they have a great dirty tone to them, although the vocalist could be a nudge bit better. Other than that, great band and great song, "+" for this song and Better Strangers :)

Classic rock as a Genre (I assume)
    Suggested by: Ancient Tower

Oh boy, this is my favourite genre of all time, so here comes the rants!

Classic Rock is over all one of the greatest genres to step foot into the music industry. Seriously, not only does Classic Rock require talent, but it's one of the most popular, like come on, seriously I think everyone knows at least 10 songs from this genre! It has been very popular in the 70s and will reign as the most memorable, as Disco is basically dead now.
What is it that I enjoy about Classic Rock so much? I don't know Classic Rock has the most memorable and the most unique sound out there! The vocalists of these bands are all unique in their own way, they all have a very bluesy sometimes raspy voice, I can't explain it, they are too good, the most memorable voices out there!
The guitar though, oh boy, the guitar is what makes these songs incredibly memorable, especially for a guitar player myself. One thing that stands out for me and defines Classic Rock is the guitar solo. Pure rock, pure talent, pure genius, those solos are literally unexplainable, they have a soul if you could consider it that way, it's just so much to take in and so beautiful! As for the riffs, I could not leave that out either, the riffs are pure iconics! Look at ACDC for example, kings of riffs, I bet you could recognize 3 of those right off the bat! Not only are the riffs recognizable, but each riff is incredibly fun to play and each riff is unique. A good riff for me is something that catches your mind, not a quiet riff in the back, I mean ACDC riffs, pure rock and pure beef, totally taking over the whole song (in a good way) and bringing absolute authority.
I'm not going to miss the bassist and drummer though! These two are the least recognized but the most important, they both work to set a good rhythm and beat in the background to support the song and make it memorable. A perfect example of this is Led Zeppelin, the most famous Classic Rock band out there and for a good reason, it was not only Robert who took the show along with Jimmy page, but they all worked together to create extremely memorable and well orchestrated riffs. In other words, you can choose to listen to one instrument throughout the whole song, you could listen to only the drums only and hear it fine, you can listen to the bass only and hear it fine, etc. Their band was successful because they included everyone and used their talent to express themselves well. THAT's what classic rock is, when a band uses their whole talent to create a song.

So for me, Classic Rock is a genre that's very difficult to explain fully. In one word I guess, it's Iconic. Every song has their own unique sound, a unique melody, great instrumental playing, AMAZING guitar riffs and guitar solos which steal the whole show for us guitarists, and over all, it's just Rock n Roll! It's just so explainable and so marvelous, you cannot explain it in one sitting. I really hope other people would open their eyes and delve into this genre, it may be dead as in no new bands are playing with this sound (a very small select few probably) but no one will ever forget the time they heard these amazing songs, it will always stick within our culture, and that's what makes it a good genre.

    SUPERHERO - Michelle
    Suggested by: 607

The song itself brings a very good message, in that we could really use a superhero to help our social, political, religous and disasterous problems that face our world. With that, it brings a little more to the plate in terms of songs which motivate us to change our world. As for the music itself, the beat was clearly not the centre piece of the song, it's incredibly mundane and was most likely bought online for a dollar discount. The singing though is quite good, both Michelle and that guy do make a good duo and they should sing more often (Idk if they do in other songs). Although, the singing is not my type, I prefer bluesy vocalists, like Robert Plant, James Hetfield (I know, he does metal, but he's good :p) Paul Rogers, BB King, Johnny Van Zant, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Axl Rose along with others. Michelle is good, but her technical style is seen too often in today's music.

Other than that, great message, good vocalists, terrible music as in the beat. Over all grade, "-"

    Avicii - Waiting For Love
    Suggested by: SliceOfRhyBread

Although I never listened to Avicii or ever liked Electronic music at all, I can definitely see why he left a big impact. The song itself has a good uplifting and sort of alien vibey melody to it, the beat is simple and clear, and although I depise electronicically produced music, this is not so bad. As for his voice, it is very familiar, I don't know where I heard it from, but I have definitely heard it. His voice is not the best, but not the worse, he belongs on a pop record it seems.
As for the music video, it gets weird at times, but it has a very simple and predictable plot, considering he is aching for love, and he finally gets it.
Overall, the music is not my type but well produced, and Avicii's singing is okay, the message is too predictable though.

Total grade: "-" not my perferred genre at all, but still, hats off to Avicii and the legacy he brought to this world, I don't know him at all, but I am sure he left a big impact positively on many peoples lives and I hope he brings more joy to people as they listen to his music. R.I.P Avicii.

    Chinese Sleep Chant by Coldplay.
  16. Well, that's wrong. I know you're exaggerating, but I'd like to share the truth. :p It was made by Black Gryph0n's brother Baasik. He often arranges and produces both his and Michelle's songs. Also, I just remembered Black Gryph0n has actually got an account on EMC. :p Not sure if he plays anymore, though. I found out about him when he introduced himself here, and I found out about Michelle through his YouTube channel. :)
And yes, they do indeed sing together more often.

I'll keep alternating pieces of music with and without lyrics.
I'd like you to review the Donkey Kong Country 2 soundtrack, by David Wise. If you don't know it (not sure if you do, as you did say you emulated classic video game consoles), perhaps pick Lockjaw's Saga and Mining Melancholy. :) But if you do know the soundtrack, it'd be cool to hear a review on it in its entirety, because it's got a lot of different tracks, and it's hard to pick one or two.

To Here Knows When and Come in Alone by My Bloody Valentine.
    Suggested by: AltPunisher

First thing I would like to mention, this song must of been on a really tight budget because the quality is garbage.

The beginning has some really awkward chimey riff, which is pretty annoying if you listen to it enough. After the intro is over, my head phones are greeted with fuzz, the kind of fuzz that makes you want to smash your speakers with a golf club. The music itself is pretty mundane, just some simple chimey electronic tunes, over dubbed with a vocalist who was most likely injected with some sort of narcotic, because i'm pretty sure she cannot speak. Seriously, all I hear is uhh.... ohhhuhh... uhhh.....(glad my parents aren't listening)

And then the song cuts off because of an error that occured, and frankly, i'm glad YouTube is acting up, because WOW are my ears ringing.

Over all, the song is incredibly disorted and fuzzy, I don't know if it's intended or if the artist is living off of only ramen noodles and cannot afford a proper studio, but it really turns the song off for me. Literally, I wanted to turn it off. As for the melody, it was okay, but at times got really annoying with the electronic chimes. As for vocals, all I can say is... "uhhmmhh"

    Chinese Sleep Chant by Coldplay.

The song starts off with a pretty simple twangy guitar riff, i'm pretty sure they hired a guitarist with 1 year experience. The song kicks into motion with a pretty kicky drum beat which I liked, but it unfortunately is joined by most likely the same vocalist as My Bloody Valentine. Because quite frankly, they both cannot sing, they even needed autotune for their mumbling.
The guitar solo is pretty out of tune and annoying, nothing really impressive.
The song basically continues on like that, same drum beat and untuned guitar riff throughout the whole song along with a vocalist who is probably about to pass out from that weird mushroom they ate earlier.
Overall, the song is pretty boring, same melody throughout the whole song, nothing special, both songs were pretty similar in that their recording quality was very poor and difficult to listen to.

Reviewing videogame music can be very difficult because they are usually not composed the same as a regular song but I'll go on with it.

The song has very heavy and thrilling drum beats throughout the song, which I really do enjoy, it brings a lot of intensity to it. The melody as well is pretty intense and seems to evoke an adventurous mood, very thrilling.
The whole song I guess has great loud drums, a long with an adventures, thrilling, dark and dangerous melody.

    Mining Melancholy
    Suggested by: 607

Now this song I can get behind. It has a very neat groovy intro which I enjoy. Throughout the song that same intro riff I guess you could say although it isn't, plays well throughout the song and really spices it up. The song's main melody seems to evoke a bit of emotion, and for some reason reminds me of an ice level or the snow biome in Terraria.
Overall, the main riff part brings a lot of intensity and epicness to it, I really do enjoy it, while the main melody and harmony brings an emotional ambience to it which makes the song feel very twinkly. It does seem like it would fit in an ice or snow level well.

    Over all grade: "="

On your comment on Black GryphOn yes I may of exaggerated it being bought, but I will stand by my statement on it being mundane.

Sorry for the poor review on video game music, it is very difficult to review it as someone who does not actively listen to this kind of music at all, along with it's different composition it's very different to adjust to.

As for video game related music, I really enjoy metal covers of them, especially this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i8-V4yuM984
I also appreciate video games who use metal as their theme music!

Although, I do really enjoy most video game soundtracks and I get nostalgic rushes every time even if I never touched the game, it is still something I enjoy. I don't know why you seem to have a negative view on legal emulators though :p
