[FORUM GAME] New Nations

  1. The Federation has started Operation Clean-Up

This Makes throwing away recyclables hard as it all gets hand sorted before getting burned now the Federation expects country wide polution to go down by at least 15%
  2. The government doesn't really have any permanent place or area in Stockholm; most offices are just strewn around the place, causing very large demand for offices. And so: the Regeringstorget. We are going to flatten some land in the northern, eastern and western parts of the Älta locality a bit southeast of Stockholm and call it the "Regeringstorget", or "Government Square". We are going to pour quite a bit of money into constructing offices and other government buildings inside the Regeringstorget.
  3. I HATE SPRINGSHARP
  4. DAMS! WIND! DAMS! WIND!
There are so many unused opportunities for wind and hydroelectric energy. We are going to be pouring 100,000,000 Soci into creating jobs, creating new, renewable energy, and phasing out coal power. A lot of the wind will be in the mountains of Sweden and Finland, and hydroelectricity in Denmark and Finland. We also offer our services to other USSR members.

  5. SEU has decided to request the assistance of UBR engineers in building a number of Dams in China; this will bring renewable energy. In combination with Nuclear Power, renewables will supply 72% of SEU's power by 1970 and 98% by 1980. In any case, SEU has sent important Nuclear Engineers to UBR as a trade; UBR will get Uranium and Nuclear Engineers, SEU gets assistance in building huge dams. SEU has decided to build quality dams that will last, because they can't exactly tear down an entire dam to rebuild it easily.
In any case, SEU has also requested UBR send engineers to the DRC, SEU's undoubtedly most useful ally. SEU wants to assist them to build a giant dam, the Grand Inga Dam. SEU wants UBR to help them build 4, the Grand Inga dam being the last. This will supply lots of energy to DRC. SEU has told DRC that they owe UBR one, and that should they enter any state of conflict DRC should yield.

  6. The Caliphate begins the Southwest Anatolia project, building dams from the Euphrates and Tigirs rivers and others which flow into Turkey. This will allow greater energy in the region.
  7. We welcome the trade with the SEU and the DRC. However, we are very sceptical of nuclear energy. This doesn't mean we won't build nuclear plants, though. We are going to install very secure measures in these plants once they are built.
  8. SEU reassures UBR that if they are that concerned about an accident, SEU can instead provide Light Water Reactors; they should be safer than RBMK, which can go runaway and boom. LRWs are more expensive to run and maintain, but safer. As the SEU people are unhappy with the extensive pollution of the sky and sea (SEU burns a lot of Coal to give their people electricity. Understandably, there is a lot of smog and SEU is looking for ways to fix it.). SEU's Chernobyl RBMK plant has installed 7 different failsafes. (Spoiler alert, it does eventually fail. SEU has to deal with it but it's less bad than IRL Chernobyl thanks to the lower power output (1/8))

  9. SEU has decided to build a "Great Green Wall". The Gobi Desert is expanding into an alarming degree; SEU does not want China turned into one giant desert for obvious reasons.
So how will this wall be built?
SEU is harvesting trees. Thousands of them, seedlings, saplings, sand-tolerant plants, basically SEU is carting off dozens of native plants. Farmers are not happy, and SEU isn't compensating them.
In essentials, SEU will plant millions of trees. While planting lots of one tree will simplify issues, it will be at risk of all being ruined at once and that would be bad. So, SEU is planting many types of trees at once.
However, this is just the build-up phase. SEU is surveying forests and trying to replicate natural ecosystem. This will take 5 years. After this period, SEU will start planting in earnest and also releasing wild animals to replicate a truly healthy ecosystem. The project is designed to assist SEU long-term, and will allow for greater population growth.
It will take 50 years to complete the project.
  10. 1951 Caliphate Musafakhi Parliament Elections

    Legend:
Light Green: Caliphate Redemptionists (Ashqar Ayyad) 20 Delegates
Dark Green: Islamic Fundamentalists (Wajeeb al-Soltani) 12 Delegates
Red: Republicists (Parsa Panahi) 15 Delegates
Blue: Nile Convention (Aïn Defka) 3 Delegates

    How it worked:
Nearly 50 well renound regional governors, politicians, great minds and high ranking officials in parliament and those of such ranking legible to vote, voted for their preferred party out of the 4. (None of the ones voting had ties to the parties)

    Outcome:

    Majority win for Ashqar Ayyad.
    Minority win for Parsa Panahi.
    Devastating loss for Ain Defka.

    Caliphate Redemptionists Results:
Very popular during election process, not only with people but also the parliament, as the party leader is literally the brother of the previous Caliph of the Sunayyad Caliph, giving Ashqar Ayyad a head start in credibility. However, most heavily devoted Islamic politicians insisted that a Parliament election was unnecessary, as the process of choosing the Caliph should be within the hands of the Islamic "Dive Choosers" or the Clergy, but a proper democratic vote was necessary unless the outcome of the Caliphate should be decades of infighting.

    Islamic Fundamentalists:

They began with a rocky start, however, more people realized that having a religious leader as the countries leader was a bad idea, leading many to believe that the Caliph should reside like a "constitutional role" as the Caliph is designated to a "ceremonial role" and as a religious leader while a secular government is in charge to keep everything fair. Wajeeb never gained mass traction however, as many believed that it would cause an uprising and infighting between religion and state.

    Republicists:

Very popular, the republic party that made it very close to winning if it weren't for the fact that the majority of the Caliphate was Muslim and believed in traditional Islamic ways of government. Panahi however, made many accomplishments in Persia and Turkey, getting a majority popularity in the region, but the mere fact that the Republicists would convert the Caliphate into a secular republic with zero ties to a Caliph and religion was an attack to most people.

    Nile Convention:
Popular in only the Nile and exempt communities, the Nile Convention never saw enough funds or even enough support. Even though their ideas of allowing all communities in the Caliphate to have a voice and to be included in all government talks was a success as it quenched Ashqar Ayyad's party and their need for being a party of the "people." That was it however, the Nile Convention had no policies except protecting South Nubia and ethnic minorities, and the Caliphate Redemptionists, who had borrowed their similar ideas just simply won instead due to their greater policies.

    Ashqar Ayyad Policies:

Ashqar Ayyad is a man of the people, he believes that the rich should not dominate society, and that mega companies should not dictate the lives of people, as is such, he has vowed to never live in a palace or douse himself in gold, but instead live in a smaller sized manor which would fit multiple people so he doesn't benefit himself. His views on human rights is progressive, believing that everyone should have the rights to life, freedom, justice and religion. He believes that women should be given equal rights to men, and that the Burqa should be banned as it is not a Muslim headdress, and that the Hijab should only be optional.
He also believes that everyone deserves "innocent before proven guilty," and that Sharia Law should be removed or at least minimized. In his own words, "Allah" is the grand judge, not us of flesh and blood."
He also believes in improving the economy of the Caliphate and supplying the fast growth of the region, opting for cleaner and abundant energy, while also benefiting infrastructure and proper food and clean water supplies.
Internationally, Ashqar Ayyad reaches out to the SEU and directly thanks them for their support, and wishes to become friends with the nation, as well as with the SNE, UBR and USSR.
Ashqar Ayyad believes in building a military, but not draining the budget on it, however he believes peace is the best way, and he believes that everyone should have the right to religion, and that no one should be oppressed in an Islamic society, regardless of who you are, Sunni, Shia, Christian, Athiest, Jewish, etc.
However, he believes that Wahhabism is a massive threat and that it should be completely eradicated, and that anyone participating in it should be imprisoned or killed for their brutality towards Allah's people.
He also believes in the five pillars of Islam and benefiting the poor, unfortunate, disabled and weak, supplying them with Zakat.
Ashqar is also a strong believer in being fair and growing the country, and the most important ideology, the "Islamic Golden Age" and "Caliphate Golden Age."
He believes in being devout to the Quran, Islam and Allah, but to also be social and to contribute to the world and being progressive and adaptive.
As for the government, he believes that the Parliament should be much more democratic, and all regional leaders should be given the voice in all Parliament discussions.

In 1953, once New Babylon is completed, Ashqar Ayyad will move the capital to it, and sit on the throne and become the Caliph of the new Caliphate (name is a mystery).
  11. The SEU has proposed the creation of the "United Nations".
There will be 11 "Permanent Council Members", only ejectable by an 7/11s Supermajority. They have the authority to control the resolutions that are made there.
The permanent council members are as follows.
    • Socialist Eurasian Union (Soviet Socialist Bloc)
    • United Baltic Republic
      (Soviet Socialist Bloc)
    • Democratic Republic of the Congo
      (Soviet Socialist Bloc)
    • Sunayyad Caliphate (Islamic Bloc)
    • New Abyssnian Empire (Islamic Bloc)
    • Islamic Republic of Indonesia (Islamic Bloc)
    • Socialist Nations of Europe (Capitalist Bloc)
    • The Federation
      (Capitalist Bloc)
    • Fascist State of Italy
      (Capitalist Bloc)
    • Indian Socialist Republic (Southern Socialists (Wild Card, basically.), recently more sympathetic with Soviet Socialists of all people.)
    • WILD CARD SELECTED RANDOMLY FROM GENERAL ASSEMBLY (Wild Card; unpredictable.). As of now, Slovenia (Capitalist Bloc)
These nations are all among the G20 of world GDP (they combined consisting of 89% of world GDP), the SEU being the top dog among them (and top in the world, only India even coming close) and Italy being the least of them. However, they are all equals there whether they like it or not. This platform is designed to be an open place for debate among the various nations, so any dispute can be mediated reasonably peacefully.
Nuclear War between the three major blocs (and the one wild card) would be very bad, and there is still a semi-state of war between Indonesia and SEU who want to nuke each other but is barely restrained by the threat of mutual annihilation. Yeah, the UN should solve that. This is because neither side truly broke the other and they still see the war as ongoing.
  12. Ashqar Ayyad sends a long letter to the leaders of the SEU by transportation, and then by a pigeon to the Kremlin (or where ever the base of operations of the SEU is.)

The letter thanks the leaders of the SEU personally and sends out an apology for all the past conflicts, war and disagreements, and also the mess that was Ibn Saud. In the letter Ashqar proposes a friendship to the socialist regions.

He even sends a letter of sincere apology to India for nuking Jaipur, however, India promptly refuses and continues their grudge.

As for Musawaism and Wahhabism, Ashqar Ayyad has proposed Musawaism Islam the STATE ideology of religion, meaning a liberal/socialist form of Islam is now the state religious ideology. As is such, extreme Wahhabist leaders are arrested, the House of Saud is executed, and Wahhabist people are either set free or asked to contemplate their choices or be imprisoned.

This means extreme conservative Islam is no more, and the House of Saud especially, IS NO MORE. Every male descendant of the house of Saud had been executed or imprisoned.
  13. The SEU is repulsed by the killing of the House of Saud's male line. SEU has realized that helping Ashqar was probably a mistake on their part; if he is that brutal to other Muslims, how brutal will he be to other religions? Even when Rhee took power from Stalin, he never killed all of Stalin's male relatives. Even when subjugating their hated enemies (Japan), they did not kill the entire royal family. They wanted to kill the emperor, but they did not.
That's just not how SEU does things.
SEU has started to distance themselves from the Caliphate. They messed up, and SEU believes they did so badly.
  14. Are you kidding, the SEU is siding with the regime that allowed nearly 100,000 innocent muslims to die in genocide? This isn't a religious attack, this is an attack against evil, because the entire Caliphate knows Wahhabism and Saud represents that.

This doesn't say that Ashqar is egible for killing innocent people, all the males in the house of saud who were directly in support of Ibn and ignored the genocides and supported the oppressive killing regime were killed, while the rest were put into prison.
  15. This was supposed to go up on post 1250

    ELECTION TIME!
At the last moment, the UBR government decided to switch to a Single Transferrable Vote (STV) system to make sure all votes are made more equal. Also, a new system where people are voting for actual candidates, not just for a party, has been put in place. Replacement politicians in the case of vacancies between elections are chosen by the politician a few days before they are inaugurated to their office. Anyway, on to the RESULTS!
    Voter Turnout: ~75%, 35,000,000 people
0.8% quota required to get 1 seat
For convenience and my own sanity, percentages have been rounded to the nearest 0.8%
LSPY: Purple, 46.4% of the Vote, resulting in 58 seats
Liberals: Sienna, 6.4% of the Vote, resulting in 8 seats
Moderates: Brown, 10.4% of the Vote, resulting in 13 seats
Minority's Party: Pale Teal, 3.2% of the Vote, resulting in 4 seats
Christian Democrats: Tan, 14.4% of the Vote, resulting in 18 seats
Conservatives: Pink, 15.2% of the Vote, resulting in 19 seats
Baltic Nationalists: Olive Green, 4% of the Vote, resulting in 5 seats
  16. That's almost half for a single party.
  17. 607, SEU's congress is even worse.
It's dominated by the only legal party (although there are factions within said party.)

  18. Currently, the SEU congress is an absolute mess.

    Okay...
Let's take a look at this. There are 1,200 Congresspeople. Yes, 1,200. Not 120. 1,200. Now you understand why SEU is building the Palace of the Soviets, there is no building on Earth big enough to both fit them all and give them all offices and not having a Capitol building is kind of pathetic, so SEU went full overkill and decided to build 2 massive fortress-like buildings that would have its own weather system, is 515m tall and has an overly sturdy foundation so that they can be improved on in the whole "height" business, and is so tall that SEU engineers are having to find creative ways to make it work. In any case...
    • Classic Socialists: 412 seats. These guys have been in power for a while now, they are Maoists and represents a good chunk of the East. They basically like SEU as it is and wants to keep sailing ahead. Center by SEU standards, Left by rest of the World standards. The Founder was a part of this faction but eventually migrated to the new Socialists.
    • New Socialists: 308 seats. These guys are more authoritarian and right-wing, but still left of anything in the Federation or SNE. Center-Right by SEU standards, Center-Left by rest of the World standards. Rhee Syng-Man spearheaded them once, but they had to ditch him.
    • Reform Socialists: 214 seats. Left-wing and Libertarian. They're rather interesting, because some of them are actually rather conservative. Center-Left by SEU standards, Far Left to Center-Left by rest of the World Standards. Stalin of all people were with these guys.
    • Conservative Socialists: 156 seats. They're closer to free-market Capitalism than SEU-style Socialism. Right by SEU standards, Center by rest of the World standards.
    • Communist Socialists: 98 seats. Actual communists. Not even Socialism, actual IRL Communism. They are a disparate coalition of far-left politicians. Off the Political Spectrum by rest of the world standards, far left by SEU standards.
    • Capitalist Socialists: 12 seats. Capitalists. No one likes them really hence why they make up 1% of the SEU People's Congress. Far-Right by SEU standards, Right by rest of the world standards.
None of these factions are legitimate parties. There is only the Socialist Party. However, these factions are very much independent of each other and in general elections they all have different candidates.
    607 likes this.
  19. OOC: The whole party has basically turned into an extension of my own IRL political ideals, so I tend to give more seats to it. Heck, the party leader and prime minister's name is Höpöttää Kahvi, which is literally "Waffle Coffee" translated into Finnish (using Google Translate, so it's probably not accurate). I'll try to be fairer in the next election.
    Warlord678 and 607 like this.
  20. SEU hates the Saud and supported Ayyad because he was a lesser evil to them, but now they are questioning whether the Sauds would be better than the Ayyads.
Also, SEU has 2 really major Capitals: Beijing and Moscow. Seoul (the naming dispute is settled) is prpbably the third most important city and is gunning to be an equal to Beijing and Moscow. In any case, SEU has no official Capital, but the fact that there are only 2 Palaces of the Soviets in Beijing and Moscow should tell you something.
