[FORUM GAME] New Nations

  1. The SNE's food production is being upped to supply all the new born. This requires more farm land and/or meat packing plants. This opens up new jobs for all the citizens in the SNE. The SNE Government makes a law called "Workers Wage and Health Act". This act improves minimum wage to €15 per hour and no more than 45 hours per week. Any injuries during work must be payed for by the employers and failure to do so will give the employers jail time.

The SNE starts a project called "Burning Hand". All that is known for this project is that it is deadly. Top scientist have been employed, along with military advisors.
Also, soldiers in the SNE have been training to use Guerrilla tactics, and will be using them in the field. Silencers are equipped to weaponry and camouflage is becoming more present.
The spy system in now becoming more present in the SNE and now spies that were not at the "top" are being removed. The spies are being out through even more rigorous training. Torture, multi lingual programs and field test in third world countries are being conducted.

  2. The Zeta code is being restrengthened, and deliberately changed to confuse SEU and USSR spies. Spies and agents who are not up to par are strictly fired, except for those who know the Zeta code. Even if those who know the Zeta code are seen as lacking or uncooperative in recent times are not fired, but kept their job and furbished well so the chance of them getting fired and then backing up the enemy in pure revenge doesn't happen.

This is rare however, every spy apart of the Maelumat or M.B.G Corp (which is basically the secret police and spying network of the Caliphate) are well picked, lowering every chance of defection, although, the act of treason is punishable by the worst punishments in the Saharan camps which includes hanging at the end of their period of work.

The Ashqar Rebels go under "Operation Desert Walker" a grueling and secretive mission to enter Mecca, the capital of the Saudi Caliphate through the An-Nafud Desert. The action is to invade from the desert by the still of the night, away from detection and through smaller forces, such as camels, fast moving vehicles, the "Super Saladin" (which is the E8 Saladin but the final variant upgraded as a militia tank and widely used) and other means of transportation. They set up a decoy however, pretending to leak a "secret message" to invade from the south through Yemen.

The Saudi Caliphate military is busy fighting rebels in Iraq and in the Nile regions to really focus on every aspect of the landmass, giving Ashqar time to move a massive rebel army through the desert and to Mecca to hopefully kill Ibn Saud or take over the Caliphate.
  3. SEU has deployed a Supercarrier squadron; a Supercarrier squadron consists of 6 supporting Destroyers, 2 Cruisers, 1 tanker, 1 food supply ship and 1 Supercarrier. SEU is experimenting with Anti-Ship Cruise missiles and has completely abandoned the Gun Cruiser (although SEU makes very good Gun Cruisers with a ridiculously fast rate of fire). They are just waiting for the development of the Antiship Cruise missile, but this leaves SEU with a gap. Now, this assistance group is standing by to help the Ashqar Rebels.
SEU has designed a Cruiser that will be converted at the first possible opportunity into a Guided Missile Cruiser.
    Wuhu-Class Cruiser
    19,515 tons standard load
    22,412 tons full
    9 203mm 50-Caliber guns in 3 3-gun turrets
    12 127mm dual-purpose guns in 7 twin turrets
    42 40mm AA Bofors Guns
    33 knots
This Cruiser is designed to handle the loads of many missiles but is by no means an incompetent gun Cruiser. With a rate of fire of 7.5 rounds a minute (brand-new autoloader), and a new 50-Caliber 203mm gun with Superheavy shells, it is able to fight off aircraft and ships with ease. It is however ultimately designed as a missile Cruiser and is optimized as such; its armor is simply not the best in its category and it is slightly weaker at ship-on-ship combat against its 12-gun Caliphate adversary. Its performance as a Missile Cruiser? It'll be okay, not good, not bad. It will pave the way for a generation of SEU Anti-Ship Cruisers and ASW warfare Cruisers/Destroyers.

  4. "Caliphate cities which are known as "desert" cities such as Herat, etc, rely on underground aquifers, rivers and other natural water reserves for their water and irrigation supply by using advanced drilling systems to access water from underground. Truly, the Caliphate excels in the world at desert survival, although every other country on the planet sees their desert cities as mud huts in a scornful desert. What they do not see is the major refinery and massive welling systems which supply cities and town, creating a miniature oasis with palm trees, green grassy parks, white vibrant houses and busy street vendors and markets along with vehicles."

    Jericho City - Palestinian Region

The Caliphate is proud in their use of the desert, and has also begun "crop circles" which are basically groups of massive circles of irrigated pivot crop systems in the desert, exploiting the randomness of underground natural aquifers to establish a sustainable way to harvest food.

Newspaper article written for the Caliphate Sun by Nehemiah Wallach - Hebrew journalist.

Hmm, a light distraction from the literal chaos and civil war in the Saudi Caliphate it seems...

  5. Warlord's guide to the Nuclear Triad:
    • Strategic Bombers: They are flexible. ICBMs may devastate cities, but they are effectively useless against mobile targets (Carrier Task Forces, etc). They are also recallable until the bomber drops and activates the payload in the case of a catastrophic error, something that is not possible with the other two branches.
    • Land-Based Missiles: The cheapest of the three. ICBMs are hard to intercept and can be deployed in massive numbers. It is also incredibly immediate, being able to launch a counter-strike in minutes. However, it can be destroyed relatively easily.
    • Submarine-Launched Ballistic Missiles: Submarines are hard to find. This gives them excellent second-strike (striking after an enemy strike) capability. However, they do not have the kind of range of the other two branches. They are also expensive, because Submarines are expensive to maintain.
In order to have an effective Nuclear Arsenal, you need to have at least a Nuclear Dyad. In order to be considered a true Nuclear Weapons power that can retaliate and launch first strikes with equal efficiency, you need a true triad. Now, as of now only the first is truly relevant and the second is coming. The third will take a while. Of note, a true Triad is very expensive and a luxury only very rich nations, as in Caliphate, Federation, or SEU rich can afford. SNE, Balkan Federation (OOC: exists only in name) and UBR can have a Dyad.
This is because Triads require a strong military infrastructure, and you need lots and lots of prerequisites. Effectively, it's not the Triad that's expensive, it's what you need to make one. I cannot understate just how much military and civilian everything is needed to build a true triad.

  6. SEU is beginning construction on a new Supercarrier; SEU's goal is six, because that way they can have 2, and 3 in a stretch operating at any one time.
In addition, they are starting to further distribute aid to many less affluent nations. While their aid was already extensive, SEU is making sure that the "Socialist" states in regions get plenty of aid and support, making "Socialism" look more attractive than it is. I mean, it's a good ideology and does try to combine the best of Capitalism and actual Socialism, but it's no silver bullet. In any case, SEU has requested UBR help it out on this matter, because SEU is being strained in its ability.
In addition, they have sponsored an overthrow of the corrupt government in Honduras and endorsed the Democratic-"Socialist" government that has taken root. They are exerting their influence in Central America, and making relations with the US (now effectively dead but somehow not fallen apart) even more strained.
After a lengthy debate between Orthodox Christian groups, Atheist groups, and Confuscianist Groups, SEU has legalized abortion under the following rules.
    • The Fetus must be under 22 weeks old from beginning of gestation period.
    • In the event the Fetus survives, it must be treated as a full human child with all rights. Deliberately attempting to kill the fetus will be treated as infanticide.
    • Abortion is to be discouraged and alternative methods of birth control to be made freely available. Chastity is to be encouraged and birth control discouraged.
Now that the great Socialist project is in full swing, SEU has requested the Soviet Union try to shoulder the burden of spreading Socialism so that SEU can try to deal with internal affairs (SEU is being strained to the limit trying to excel both outwards and inwards with insufficient funding. It's basically holding up the entire Socialist agenda alone.) In any case, SEU is redirecting funds to the military now that they've sorted out most of their long-term problems and managed to stabilize their demographics into a significantly more sustainable and long-term birth rate.
In any case, SEU is trying to catch up with the Caliphate in the whole "Rocket" business. This is... less than successful. While SEU is efficient, they are hopelessly behind. No amount of money can solve that, only time.
SEU plans to catch up by at least 1965. 15 years, enough time with enough money, but as of now SEU is behind, and badly.
SEU has developed the World's first Nuclear Submarine. Its name is SEUS Quozhou.
Now, it's a prototype and an inefficient one at that. It doesn't even have any weapons.
But it works. SEU is learning all it can. The next submarine will be larger and better; this is but a test for the Socialists.
In addition, the SEU has almost succeeded in developing a Nuclear power plant; it'll be done in 3 years, at most. SEU plans to make this absolutely standard, and they dream of an age of clean atomic energy.
SEU's most trusted ally might be the UBR, but the most useful ally is the DRC. SEU knows this well and is trying to keep them both. Currently, the SEU is strained to the limit trying to do everything at once. It looks to delegate responsibilities to their allies.
  7. The Caliphate develops anti-ship cruisers and anti-ship and anti-air rockets and missiles, especially technology to intercept missiles.

Abortion under the caliphate is obviously banned everywhere, in the case of rape however, which is very rare, the rapist ends up being stoned to death. The only time when a woman can abort is if her or the child is in insane amounts of danger.
  8. SEU's Belt initiative is bringing it money. In addition, the recent increase in military funding for the Navy means that the Air Force demanded a raise. Mao felt generous and funded them, and now they are developing new Radars by pooling their funds with the Navy. They will be able to produce both Aircraft-Based Radar and Ship-Based Radar. In any case, the Air Force is using their remaining funds to develop the MiG-19, an experimental Gen2 Fighter Jet.
The MiG-19 is the MiG-15's truest successor, cheap but not by any means a terrible jet. Capable of Mach 1.22 speeds and mounted with an excellent Radar, with a decent armament. The MiG-19 will not replace the MiG-17 just yet, but as soon as it is optimized for mass production SEU will use it. The MiG-19's Autocannon has good ballistic properties, so SEU will try to refit it onto some Gen 1+ MiG-17s. In any case, the SEU Air Force is getting a new toy.
SEU has however cut some aid in order to finance this; this is a means of trying to pressure UBR to help give SEU aid to poorer nations, and to get the rest of the Soviet Union on board the idea.
The USSR and SEU are by the far most powerful faction of the thre World ideologies (Capitalists vs Islamic Caliphate vs Socialists). However, they have their fingers in too many pies and their power is concentrated in one nation. Their greatest weakness is the fact that their power base is next to a rogue wild card which is rather powerful and could ruin them as well as a hostile nation they are constantly at war with. They're strong but incredibly limited by their own problems.
  9. SEU asks the USSR nations to help it feed the rest of the Socialist nations, and states that its budget is near collapse (which it is; they are burdened with spending after spending). They've... lost their cool after a month of asking the same thing over and over with no response, and has effectively made several threats one and the most significant of which is "the cessation of all weapons exports" (death sentence for USSR militaries since SEU makes all their weapons).
SEU has offered to give knowledge gathered by the upcoming "To Light a Brighter Day" tests of Nuclear reactors for commercial use. In 3 months, SEU will have completed 30 miniature Nuclear Reactors. The goal? To blow all of them up by messing with them, in different and creative ways. Yes, that is the goal. SEU is gathering data on how to build a defense in depth, and SEU has discovered the ideal way to do that is to fail, learn from said failure and to make a better version. Repeat until you have no problems. Very simple. SEU has secretly said that UBR can also get a few Nuclear Power reactors for free. SEU is well aware that if SEU and UBR both agree on any one thing, DRC is sure to follow and the rest of the USSR and Socialist Coalition with it.
Also, SEU will make the MiG-19 available to the UBR and the MiG-17 and T-54 available to the rest of the USSR. SEU has enormous leverage because of its weapons industry, and SEU is using that to its full advantage.
Keep in mind SEU could do a lot more damage if it really wanted, but it's choosing not to do so to not ruin their relationships with the rest of the Soviet Union. Its economic clout is massive and it's really only not using it because it would also damage their own economy.
Indonesia and SEU have come to a "peace agreement". Of course, it is not a true peace at all and both sides really do want to nuke each other to nothing because of their fundamentally incompatible values and beliefs that cannot be compromised. But as of now, SEU is giving Indonesia time to rebuild and to stop fighting. However, Indonesia still harbors a great hate of SEU and is considering invading Australia. That is a very bad idea; it'll get them nuked by the classic Socialists.
  10. The Caliphate, realizing oil can not be used forever, switches to nuclear energy. They already researched this a long time ago, and when uranium was introduced for bombs, the Caliphate immedietly decided to make nuclear energy. The civil war has slowed this down, but in 10 pages the Caliphate will have developed their first real prototype/minituare nuclear reactor.
  11. The Federation has passed The Child Act

It states that once the egg has been fertilized it has all the rights of a citizen and should be treated with the unalianable rights to the persuit of life liberty and happiness and any doctor who does an abortion is kicked from the medical practice and charged with murder in the first degree
  12. SEU basically says "screw it" after begging the rest of the USSR to help it give aid to the various Socialist Nations around the World being ignored and cuts off weapons exports to the rest of the Soviet Union. They also cut economic aid to the poorer USSR states, telling them to blame the rest of the USSR's obstinance.
SEU has completely lost its cool now; no one in SEU is happy that they're holding up the entire Socialist agenda on their own with none of their "allies" is doing nothing to assist them to do this. SEU asks themselves "is this the price to pay for being leader"? They're paying massive prices while getting very few benefits; they don't get free money from a economic powerhouse, and no one does what they ask.
The SEU treasury, having to make do with very little suddenly getting lots of Soci really, really likes this new state of not having to help their allies, but Mao and Deng both agree that this state can't last forever and that a permanent continuation would not be good as it would erode the integrity of the Classic Socialist Bloc. They make one last appeal, stating that the Socialist Agenda is unsustainable without their help.
  13. OOC: Wait, who here is reading the thread as it progresses but not participating? I'm not talking about active players (e.c. Warlord678, WaffleCoffee, Otus_Nigrum)
  14. I just stopped getting alerts for the past 10 posts, not sure why.
The UBR can possibly assist, however we are having a lot of internal stuff to deal with right now. Denmark, polders, highways, etc. If we have a budget surplus, then yes, we will help aid poorer nations allied with the SEU. However, it's unsure if we will have a surplus.

  15. The SEU Navy, with a significantly increased budget now that the rest of the USSR has lifted most of the burden (and it was tapering out slowly on its own anyway as the Countries developed) has contracted Sukhoi to build them a new Gen2 Navy Fighter.
Sukhoi has obliged, drawing up plans for the Su-8, a Fighter-Bomber that can operate in Catapault Aircraft Carriers. It is of note that SEU Navy Fighters are at least 10% heavier than their Air Force counterparts; they have a better Thrust-to-Weight ratio, much more range (Navy Aircraft tend to do that) and a slightly heavier payload. It will enter service within the end of 1951, and replace all unupgraded Su-4s by 1953. Many Su-4s will be upgraded and modernized because these new fighter designs aren't the cheapest things in the World.
In any case, SEU has produced a version of the MiG-19 for export (although UBR gets undowngraded, original versions) for export for the DRC and rest of the USSR. They have also prepared downgraded versions of the T-54, although a new version of the T-54 is in the works and when that's finished UBR and SEU will get that T-54A and the rest will get the older T-54s. In any case, SEU has resumed weapons exports to the rest of the Soviet Union.

  18. The SEU has come up with a reactor design for the first ever Civilian Power Generation Nuclear Reactor.
Called RBMK, (High-Power Channel type Reactor) it is able to produce electrical power with low maintenance and low costs compared to the other considered design, Heavy Water reactors. All these saving will go into patching the seriously dangerous problems inherent in this design, because of course it is. The Void Coefficient will be no more than 0.7 Beta; it is to reduce the risk of a runaway reactor meltdown. To reduce the risks, utmost care has been taken and the designs of the components been examined by dozens of engineers in order to make sure to make sure that they are no design flaws. In total, SEU has reduced the number of design flaws by 74%; every once in a while this number goes up, because someone catches a flaw. SEU has planned 2 reactors each generating 250 Megawatts. Each reactor will operate separately and will be entirely separate reactors, together only in name; they will be spaced far apart (1km). Each reactor will have 7 different backup mechanisms to shut down the reactor should it exceed operational limits. Only 2 of these mechanisms can be shut down at one time for testing; should any more than 2 of the mechanisms malfunction, the rest will kick into action and the operators have been instructed to shut it down immediately.
In addition, any sign of a chain reaction mandates a reactor shutdown. (I mean, chain reactions mean the reactor is probably already doomed so shutting it down can't hurt.). In addition, there is an onsite team of liquidators protected from the radiation; additional liquidators can be called in as needed from Pripyat.
Roughly 20 kilometers away is the City of Pripyat, and for the proper integration of Ukraine into the USSR SEU will place the pride and pinnacle of the Socialist Eurasian Union's scientific advances and technological prowess in the autonomous region. The nearness to Belarus is also significant, and SEU has hired many Belarussian engineers to work in the reactors. Deng Xiaoping has masterminded this in order to better integrate these countries into the Union.
Pripyat has been designed to be evacuated easily, in a mere 3 hours and if SEU took shortcuts to evacuate people in favor of safety, 1.5-2 hours.
In essentials, the RBMK design is inherently dangerous and carries the risk of a catastrophic meltdown. The risk of an accident has been reduced by around 800-1200%. However, it is still very high at 120-150% of other possible designs. In any case, it will likely be finished at around the end of 1952. And then comes the challenge of operating the damn thing.
SEU is taking its time, waiting to see if anything goes terribly wrong before they start advertising it and making propaganda posters about the "Clean new Power Source". However, the name is set in stone.
    Chernobyl Nuclear Reactor.
