[Ongoing Event] The Wizarding World of Harry Potter

Discussion in 'Public Member Events' started by JDHallows, Sep 1, 2018.

  1. Indeed I have! I went to quite a few shops to buy materials for all of this, in addition to some old fashioned manual collecting from the wild :p

As for helping out with donations:
Very stubborn! However, since so many people do want to help with the event, I have setup a donations room for people to donate items that we may need for Hogwarts.

You can go to /v +hdonate on SMP7 and put items into the chests there. I have a sign there that I'll update periodically with whatever items we need the most at that time. Currently, the sign says we need: books, ink sacs, feathers, vines, and snow blocks. Rupee donations can be sent to my WeasleyHallows account, since that's my "bank" account for Hogwarts :p

Thank you guys for your support of the project, it really means a lot to my family and I. Don't feel like you have to donate either, this is an event that I have been happy to support on my own thus far and it was a great way to get rid of some of the rupees and items that I had sitting around on my alts :p But if you decide to donate, thank you!
  2. I went thru the first year and then the second with spitfyre while she was home(she'd never really seen it at that point). She has been a huge fan of HP from the moment she first opened her first book and rereading it.. not sure how many times and of course watching the movies over and over again.
It was just as magical for her as it was for me.
Thank you again to JD and his family for this incredible build and sharing it with us.
Much <3 from this fam to yours.
  3. (the door to RavenClaw is stuck open)

  4. Perhaps someone got their claw stuck in it...
  5. Ok.. you convinced me. Starting to watch the movies this week. :)
  6. Woohooooo! :D

  7. "This thread is very old, and in most cases it is rude to bump it again."

Well then, it's time to be a little rude!

So for those who aren't aware, yes this is still a thing. Recently though, it has come to my attention that since the 1.15 update, most of this build is now broken.

Due to this, please consider Hogwarts "closed" until further notice. Move is still on throughout the castle, but I will be turning it off soon. I'm going to try to spend some time this week trying to update Hogwarts to work with the 1.15 update, so expect additional updates later on this!

Note: This is still only to make Year 1 and Year 2 content work. Year 3 was a work in-progress before I became inactive on EMC. Year 3 being completed will be dependent on my personal schedule over the month of April and after I determine if there is enough interest in Year 3 being completed to make it worth it.
  8. I have not participated in year 1 or year 2 but count me interested if you decide to do year 3 :D (was not active when this thread was posted up until like 2 months ago lol).

Will look at the year 1 and 2 activities once those are all fixed.
  9. Classes suspended due to covid19 like other schools I imagine..

Hoping year 3 makes it into the curriculum
  10. Yesssss! :D <3 Let me know if you need anything ;)

  11. So I never want to wish ill on someones schedule but.... for the sake of harry potter fans I hope your schedule for work isn't to terribly busy =P

  12. To be perfectly honest, I won't remember to (nor would I care to) be at Hogwarts if other people aren't there - so if there was a launch event, I'd be there for sure. Otherwise? Probably not

  13. Hogwarts is best done in a group. It’s a long event just for Years 1 and 2, I think the average completion time was around 3 hours after Year 2 was released.

While I would def do an initial launch party, I also designed Hogwarts so that the event could be completed at any time convenient for the player. But, this may result in nobody else being around to help with the event.

You bring up a good point that doing it by yourself, you wouldn’t be likely to complete it. For Year 3 then, I’ll need come up with a way for people to be able to easily group up or plan times to complete the event together.

One of the things I’ve loved seeing at Hogwarts is people who have never talked or seen each other before now suddenly working through the quests together and helping each other out. That’s something we can do on launch day easily, since everybody is there. After that though, as people continue to complete it, we see fewer and fewer people showing up, making it harder for people to go through it with somebody.

I’ll need to come up with a way for people to find others to go through the event with even when nobody else is there.
  14. The events for year 1 and 2 were a blast. I would be interested in a year 3 if you decided to do one.

  15. If you ever need some assistance Hallows let me know! I am a super nerd when it comes down to the Harry Potter world!

  16. Nice of you to offer help to the Hallowed Halls of Learning!
  17. Hogwarts Years 1 and 2 should be officially fixed now!

Hogwarts Year 3 is still in a decision phase at this time. I'll update on that later once I've made a decision.
  18. Hi, I hope that it's ok that I am not starting a new thread. I don't want to be rude, I just have a question. I tried the Hogwarts server and I cannot buy the supply list. It says it's out of stock, is this not available anymore?
  19. It is still open but JD is busy atm and people tend to buy out all the shops, he will have to restock them when hes available

  20. I just mailed you an extra I had. Let me know if you have any other trouble before JD can stock some things, and I'll see what I can do :)
