WAR PLANS: EUROPEAN COMMONWEALTH [CLEARANCE LEVEL 5]The European Commonwealth has emerged as a new power in the collapse of TUN and formation of SUNAFR. They are the only world power that could match the HMKX Empire's ability to mobilize soldiers. In addition, they all use a unified currency, the Euro and has a powerful military, with the FRNS Navy being just superior to the HMKX Navy in overall terms. In order to combat this threat, HMKX has devised a war plan.SECTION 1: EARLY ATTACKAs the European Commonwealth will likely not bother invading the Empire's Eastern bulk due to the fact they either have to cross a frozen Arctic Sea that is already controlled by HMKX and die in droves or suffer the wrath of nature, march across the Russian wastelands and freeze to death while being harassed by Kazakhstani troops, or attempt an amphibious landing resulting in an utter bloodbath. So, they will likely attack the relatively disconnected Russia. While Russia has enough food and food production capabilities to hold out on its own for 2-3 years, sustained bombardment will likely destroy this capacity and force the Russians to rely on the Black Sea entrance. To this end, Turkey is to be defended regardless of whatever the cost of lives is. Human wave tactics are perfectly acceptable if it means feeding Russia's entire population. [CLASSIFIED LEVEL 6: CLEARANCE ACCEPTED] 10-12 million Dead is to be considered acceptable, with surrendering the canal is to be considered at around 20-25 million dead. [CLASSIFIED INFORMATION ENDS HERE] In order to make sure that Russia will not run out of soldiers in the foreseeable future in the event of war, a rail line that will transport soldiers, supplies and information has been massively expanded. Counterattack is not to be considered, and Russia should instead make the war as painful for the EC as possible while seeming like the victim in an unjust war.SECTION 2: BATTLES AT SEAAs the HMKX Navy rapidly undergoes expansion, with [CLASSIFIED LEVEL 6: CLEARANCE ACCEPTED] 3 more Supercarriers planned for the 1990-2000 period and [CLASSIFIED INFORMATION ENDS HERE] 7 Supercarriers in the Navy and 2 being built, as well as Heavy Cruisers and Submarines getting focus, the FRNS is expected to react. Russia must extend this war for as long as possible to make sure HMKX has long enough time to flex its full industrial might that outclasses the EC by a wide margin so that HMKX may outproduce the EC in all aspects, especially the Navy. FRNS is expected to outclass HMKX at first in Naval affairs, and HMKX will stick to land routes for the first 3 years of any war and defend their own coast. After 3-4, HMKX's Naval forces will be powerful enough to challenge the EC in blue water. This will allow HMKX to wreck the overextended EC Navy and then to dominate the Sea. UFOS is not included in the equation as they have proven unreliable in the past.SECTION 3: THE RESOURCE WARAs the war drags on, HMKX will need UFOS imports for the most important, and unfortunately most deficient resource, Food. This alone will be an extremely valuable contribution and will be more helpful than any amount of military aid. In order to make sure UFOS continues exporting food from their rich earth, [LEVEL 7 CLASSIFIED: CLEARANCE ACCEPTED] HMKX will provide them with powerful ABM Missiles that will be more than enough to block over 300 Missiles in a Nuclear Strike with ease. [CLASSIFIED INFORMATION ENDS HERE]. The EC is weak in all other Areas of resources. Even the Oil-Poor UFOS possesses more Oil than the EC. EC has only two countries with oil fields and only 1 with significant Oil Reserves. The EC may try to invade Saudi Arabia and Iraq. This will be a bloodbath for them, as they will be forced to push through extremely well-armed states. In the event EC tries to import oil from Iran, Iran is to be blockaded. HMKX and UFOS also has more Iron than the EC, with Sweden being a major source and Norway producing aluminum well. In order to prevent this, FRNS's Nordic sections are to be made top priority targets. Norway and Sweden is to be invaded before Germany. HMKX has a monopoly on rare Earth metals, this is to be exercised to our full advantage.SECTION 4: NUCLEAR WARIn the unfavorable but possible event of Nuclear War, [CLASSIFIED LEVEL 6: CLEARANCE ACCEPTED] HMKX is very well prepared. The ABM systems around every major city [CLASSIFIED LEVEL 7: CLEARANCE ACCEPTED] could block up to 20 Nuclear Warheads without breaches, and up to 57 with a low probability of 1 breach. [CLASSIFIED INFORMATION ENDS HERE] As FRNS has 16 nuclear warheads that could directly attack HMKX's mainland, this is not an issue for the East. In the West, FRNS has 32 warheads. This is worrying. In the event of war, the West's ABM systems are to be massively strengthened. The East's systems are also to be upgraded. If FRNS does decide to go down on the mutually suicidal path of Nuclear War, HMKX is to launch a massive counter-strike, with 1,000 Nuclear Weapons attacking with variable-yield technology to reduce civilian deaths targets with this priority, various targets listed from most to least important: Nuclear Weapon Silos. Nuclear Weapons Research Centers. Nuclear Power Plants. Miscellaneous Nuclear Facilities. Factories, Industrial facilities. Governmental buildings. Major civilian centers are not to be targeted. The only exception to this rule is in the event FRNS decides to utilize "Dirty Bombs" or otherwise aim to cause the end of the World. (I'm just gonna keep playing on New Nations until New Kingdoms comes out, looks like you got a companion for a little while Warlord) With 6 nations all leaving the influence of the SUNAFR, it led to a huge break within the economy and a shocking effect within the media. I won't get much into the now Independent TUN states, but they had quite and importance. The SUNAFR military has shrunk in numbers from 1.8 million to now 1.2 million due to the TUN collapse. Mandatory military service is still in effect though and continues to stride. Even if SUNAFR has a large military, its a shattered financial situation that needs to be addressed, and thus SUNAFR has delved into projects to fuel the treasury. The Military budget is going to be dropping by 6%, and the focus will be on economic development. Thus, in the poor state of the SUNAFR government, military equipment is being sold at large quantities to NPAT members, such as the F-4 Phantom and the M60, which is already out of service. SUNAFR is also selling territories in the Pacific to FNRS and NPAT members. The SUNAFR President has spoken against Sharia Law and its supporters, stating that Sharia Law and its followers are not welcome within the Sovereign States of the United North.
OEO REPORT: RWANDAN CIVIL WAR AND GENOCIDEThe ethnic tensions between Tutsi and Hutu have gotten to an all-time high, culminating in Civil War. Shortly after the outbreak of Civil War, what can only be described as senseless slaughter of the Tutsi ethnic group as well as the Batwa Pygmy peoples. As the President was killed, the Peace Accords were rendered moot. After this, Hutu began systematically slaughtering Tutsi. It is currently day 5 of this Genocide, and it is estimated the Hutu may have killed up to 40,000 people. Many have been burnt alive, shot, killed by shrapnel, but by far the most common is hacked to death via Machete. It is clear a humanitarian intervention is needed to defeat the current Government and to stop this Genocide. The HMKX health authorities have discovered a small disease that has low lethality but is quite severe and extremely high infectivity. The infection has been contained to rural farming villages, and HMKX authorities have launched a health alert for the disease. It is a virus, and a vaccine is being made for it, ready in 5 years. Jordan and Israel are once again having a dispute, this time over Israeli alleged settlements over the Jordan river. HMKX plans to let Jordan be beat up by Israel, but their Arab allies are not having it. They kind of liked Jordan, and HMKX throwing them under the bus as a scapegoat was not liked. They plan to defend the Jordanians from Israeli invasion if it happens. Iran is indicating it could join as a third party to counter the Israeli, but the Saudis are not pleased. If anything happens, it will be a 3-way war. The Empire is experiencing a famine. It is unknown when it will let up. A lack of rain coupled with pests have destroyed a harvest, and the Pests seem to have died down for now, but it is likely only dormant rather than gone. Next year's harvest will likely be destroyed. Due to this, the Army size has once again been cut down to 2.8 million as HMKX cannot afford to feed them all. The HMKX Army is dangerously stretched thin. Already, things are going horribly wrong in Rwanda. Guinean Army Forces have collided with NAE forces, and no side is backing down.
Things are going very badly in Africa. Guinea and NAE have declared war on each other. Sudan has attacked South Sudan under NAE pressure, so that Sudan can get their hands on some OIL, because NAE needs OIL. Sudan and NAE have agreed to trade Oil. Sudan's pretense is that South Sudan is under constant Civil War, which is actually kind of true. But this has ticked off another power in the region, Libya. They were not pleased NAE was outpacing Guinea, and this is even worse. So they are shipping Oil to Guinea, because Guinea needs OIL. The war is a complete mess. Regional warlords have taken the opportunity to seize power. The War has spilled over to Burundi, where Guinea, NAE, DRC, Burundi, OEO Peacekeepers, Warlords and sometimes Uganda joined in. 2-sided battles are a luxury where one knows who are enemies, 3-sided battles are much more common. One recorded battle had 5 sides, Guinea, NAE, OEO Peacekeepers, Burundi and a regional warlord clashed. It was an absolute bloody mess and nobody won. South Africa is being offered increasingly better deals by both sides to let them use South Africa's ports and Sea Lanes. So far, the advantage goes to DRC. Their army is fairly well-equipped, and they are much closer. Currently, this is the overall "How well are they doing, how well are they likely to do" cumulatively, higher is better. DRC Guinea/NAE OEO Peacekeepers Burundi/Rwanda Regional Warlords The Plague is breaking through the quarantine. HMKX is in no condition to intervene, and public opinion demands they stay out of the African war.
The situation is getting even worse. DRC has completely taken over Rwanda, Rwanda is doing the "Insurgency" gig in its own lands. NAE and Guinea's war has spilled out of Rwanda into Burundi. The Burundi government cannot do anything, as any attempts to send aid (I mean, the government was already crap but they can't have their own country collapse) is blown apart/raided (in the case of material goods) by NAE and Guinea soldiers. The immensely destructive style of warfare practiced by the Empire has been applied to full effect, with none of the restraint practiced to reduce civilian casualties. Which basically means Burundi is being rendered completely unfit for human occupation. Carpet bombings are common, and hundreds of civilians are dying every day. This rate is increasing. The real problem lies in the sheer number of refugees. NAE, DRC and Guinea both at least try to kick civilians out of their land before blasting it into oblivion. This has the unfortunate effect of refugee creation. So far, the war has created 500,000 refugees. In 2 weeks. In two countries that has the combined population of 13 Million people. DRC has simply closed the border. Armed mercenaries are hired by either rich people or groups of poor to break through border defenses, as literally no one is letting them in. This usually ends in massive bloodshed. It is estimated nearly 10,000 people have died at the borders trying to force their way in, or as collateral damage from Mercenary-Border Defense clashes. It is predicted a starvation crisis will occur, with most of both countries' farmland blasted by carpet bombing it is expected 100,000 civilians will starve in the next 3 months, and 700,000 in the next year, by then 2 Million refugees will be created. The war has spread to Uganda, the South Sudanese and NAE chased DRC forces into their borders. Uganda seems to be holding its own, however and things are relatively stable there. Guinea has formed an alliance with the Ugandans, as they are enemies of NAE. Splinter factions of Omni Laham, now reorganized into a group known as "Hezbollah". Unlike in our timeline, Hezbollah is Sunni and has support from African states. They are a stray variable, and they want to seize this opportunity to create an Islamic caliphate. Unfortunately, they can't do that when all their land is being rendered unfit for human/animal survival, so they have launched a Guerilla war against NAE so they stop blasting their precious caliphate apart. Alty, I would still like to see those specs. Please, NN is basically over, but I am still curious.
The Empire is moving to expunge FRNS spies in their lands, the last thing HMKX needs in these bad times are spies in its own lands. Once caught, they will be deported and a extensive record made of their face, fingerprints, voice, physical characteristics and genetic material. They are to be placed on a blacklist and ordered to quit their job as a spy, as a first and only warning. In the event they are caught again, they will be executed by hanging, as they have previously been warned. The Plague has mutated. They are now less virulent but much more lethal, which will slow its spread and allow it to be better contained. However, the leakages have already created problems, as isolated incidences of the Plague is still occurring in Cities, but is quarantined quickly. HMKX Authorities are handing out leaflets that inform of the Plague's symptoms. The one sliver lining is that its symptoms are distinctive, and that it can easily be found on persons within the first 12-18 hours of the symptoms appearing. While it is Viral, the symptoms resemble the Bubonic Plague. So far, a total of 180 people have contracted it in bigger cities. 117 people received advanced treatment upon the first 24-48 hours of symptoms and only 9 people died, a very positive sign for such a lethal plague. For the first 24-96 hours, if treatment is given survival rates are at least 90%. However, going beyond this point, lethality increases exponentially, at 5 day's time lethality approaches 70%. The quarantine is slipping, and HMKX is rushing a vaccine into development and improving hospital infrastructure so it can handle the sheer numbers that will come. Pestilence is happy the Empire is preparing. Preparing means less Death, more suffering. War is busy in Africa, killing thousands with its great sword and leaving a mess for Death. Famine waits its time to wreak havoc, it is not yet time to attack, that would collapse the Empire. Poor Death is left mopping up the mess that the others leave. He hates his job, it's hard mopping up.
The Empire is having more and more problems piled on top of it. The refugees are turning up in Saudi Arabia. The Saudis give them food, water, and fuel then kick them out of the Country, towards the Suez Canal. This has the effect of thousands of refugees turning up near Southern Europe. It remains to be seen how the EC will respond, as about 10,000 people have shown up near their cities and is begging for Asylum. HMKX is well aware this number will increase by at least 1,000%, and has reacted by offering food to refugees, as they have that at the very least. It should be of note Cannibalism was common on these boats, as the survival rate on these boats is 45%. Half of the deaths are due to starvation, a third due to disease and a sixth due to weather. Uganda has collapsed into total anarchy. Nobody anticipated this, this just exacerbates the already existent problems. Guinea has moved to install a puppet state, but NAE invaded before they could do that. Here, the warfare is a lot less violent and a lot more "We're here to bring order".
The European Commonwealth has ordered that refugees be turned away from their borders and back to their homeland. It has, however, ordered a safe zone to be constructed in the countries these people are fleeing. Those that don't obey are arrested and forcefully turned away. Controversy has erupted after Commonwealth peacekeepers opened fire upon them after a Molotov was thrown at them and a horde of refugees tried to run through. The public support the army and government's decision, but the media does not.
There is a slight problem. No food in their homelands. All the farmlands have been blasted to oblivion by the NAE and Guinea. The Homelands are a war zone. Literally all the Powerful African countries are fighting. And those guys aren't wimps.
As to avoid destroying their entire country, Nigeria, a fruitful ally of SUNAFR (I regret using SUNAFR as an acronym now, its kinda stupid lol) has stayed neutral during the conflict, yet has closed all their borders and stands on high military watch, in case of a possible invasion. Chad acts as a resting point for the conflict, although they aren't in the war, their land is forcefully used by the NAE as a "war zone away from the war zone." Cameroon's civilians plead to avoid a war, although it seems like their government is considering joining the engagement, although NPAT urges them not to. Kenya, Algeria, and Cote D'Ivore all keep their mouths shut, yet prepare their military just in case. They hold valuable supplies, and Cote D'Ivore stands as the most peaceful out of all of them. Yet if any were to go at war, it would mean NPAT and SUNAFR would be yanked into the conflict. That's why all African NPAT members are urged to keep their borders closed, their military guard up, and to stay neutral. If some tyrant government wanted to invade, they would have to stand up against the whole NPAT league.
A HMKX private company has discovered the wreck of WW2 pride of the Royal Navy, HMS Hood. Note this was completely accidental, and was unintended by any party. This private company, with the assistance of a wreck salvaging private enterprise has requested the FRNS government's permission to retrieve a Bell and a 15-inch turret and to donate it to a British museum. As an unfortunate coincidence, a HMKX Government sponsored news platform has released twin Documentaries on Bismarck and Hood. The Documentary on Hood heavily criticized the then-Royal Navy for doing nothing about the fundamental weaknesses of the Hood, including an ineffective Deck Armor scheme and the fact she was a weary ship that was overdue for modernization, directly resulting in her sinking by the newer and stronger Bismarck. The mighty Hood went down... Construction is finished for 1 of the 2 replacement Supercarriers. Volvograd Hull Number: 51 (This ship got pushed up there, for some reason. OOC: If you look up the Wikipedia page for Hood's pennant number, you'll know why.) Unlike her sister ships, this ship has actually gotten a bit smaller at 121k displacement, due to new building techniques. The Sejongs were not easy to maintain, this ship's new construction techniques will hopefully make it easier to do that, as well as extensive replacement of the old Anti-Missile interceptor systems with newer ones, easier to maintain and lighter, albeit with a small performance loss. "The mighty Volvograd".(OOC: Again, another Hood parallel) This ship is scheduled to go on a world tour, hitting a lot of spots, (OOC: you know the drill). This is to rile FRNS up, as they seem to want to rebuild their "British Empire". What better symbol of British invincibility than HMS Hood to make a mockery of?
HOLD EVERYTHING. Why would Chad be involved? Yet? The conflict is currently Contained to Uganda, some parts of Rwanda and Burundi. DRC shares a border, NAE is funneling troops through the South Sudanese, the Ugandan puppet state set up by Guinea lets them invade, Chad has nothing to do with this! (for now) South Africa has sided with NAE. This is very bad news for Guinea. The Central African Republic is, unfortunately, undergoing a series of violent protests and unrest. This might provide a good Casus Belli for South Sudan...
The Empire's plague has broken containment. It is far, far worse than HMKX anticipated, but HMKX did prepare for the worst-case scenario. Still, despite everything, the Plague spreads like wildfire. It butchers thousands, then hundreds of thousands. The death toll skyrockets, hospitals are overwhelmed. The vast factories begin to halt. The HMKX Economy begins to slow.
