I did consider adding a command to check your status, but I figured people would consider that a waste of their turn, so I decided to leave it out. Do keep in mind that your inventory is kept when you die, so if you craft something now and starve shortly after, that's not a huge deal.
Because it deincentivises actually keeping track of it, and keeping track of such things is an intended part of the game. The only reason why I do give output when your inventory changes or you eat is to help people to clear up mistakes.
