A minor update went out overnight which solved a lot of the grammatical/formatting issues. I haven't implemented many of the suggestions that have been made yet. I've gotta do quite a bit of house cleanup today - so might be tomorrow before things start rolling again on improvements/fixes.
Suggestion (mediated from my experience in guilds on Path of Exile): if a member of an empire makes a donation to the empire, and such donation gets used, the owner(s)/officer(s) of the empire should not be able to kick that member for X months (on PoE was 6). To prevent abouse on both sides, the donation had to be accepted by the owner/officer of the guild first, so maybe that's also something we might want. Not sure I have been clear, can try to give more details if needed.
I think you were clear. It gives pause for thought. I am skeptical about that though. Seems like an XY problem.
The underlying problems that tries to prevent are: - users getting duped into joining a clan, donate all their currency, and then getting nothing in return (the X months cooldown) - users abusing the cooldown by donating and then being obnoxious without possibility of being kicked (the donation acceptance) sure, the second issue is only mitigated, as it requires communication between clan owners so that no donations from a certain player are ever accepted. I am not claiming this is a must for EMC, but maybe you want to consider the underlying issue and see if you think we need a similar ad-hoc solution.
yeah, I get that. One fortunate thing is that the logging for Empires is extremely verbose. So if people do something dumb - they can get called out for their being a jerk - and publicly outed for it if needed. And/or punished for scamming I will definitely keep this topic in mind.
Still just having a first look, but so far really like the update. Thanks chicken and anyone else who contributed!
All hail the Chicken! Quick question if you're able to answer, how far is the "activation range" on the dispensers. Do I have to supervise it right by it or can I have it running in loaded chunks while I work around the surrounding area?
I can't believe what my goggles are reading! Thank you, chicken, and co. for all the hard work on this and bringing it to fruition. Thank you for your dedication to keeping our server alive and well! Y'all have done a great job, and I'm grateful to able to be part of the community. There are so many new commands to familiarize myself with. The hierarchy structuring of the new system and features will take some time to get used to, but I'm too excited to care. Thank you!!
Not mentioned: Randomly added square brackets around item names to the rupee history to mess up any systems that might have depended on the previous formatting.
There is currently a bug with rupee history displaying something wrong. Not sure about square brackets though - haven't seen that yet.
All of the shop-related transaction descriptions have changed: Before: "Player shop sold 10 String to player" After: "Player shop sold 10 [String] to player" I've gone ahead and now accept with or without the square brackets and rescanned all the new transactions after the update time, and luckily everything seems to have not come out of sync (as best I can tell). While I will never get this time back, it wasn't nearly the hassle I had initially feared. I have no idea if this will break other tools like EMC Shopkeeper that others might be using. If you do revert something, I assume that the descriptions of existing transactions will remain the same. I have no idea what I'll do if descriptions of past transactions are changed, as my system will assume they are new and inventories will be double-adjusted. So if you do find the source of the square brackets and want to revert it's probably best to just update descriptions of new transactions.
The restart overnight implemented lots of fixes. But then also a couple of changes. I have switched out the formatting of the chat channel when it describes which server the player is on. It has been suggested to use more hover stuff in chat messages - that suggestion is definitely accepted, just hasn't happened yet. The change went from "C-1" to "C:1". Let me know if you don't like it. I think it will be better overall. For Empires/Officer chats - it attaches which empire it is for next to the E/O. That was always the intention, but it got switched around at some point. In the Tablist the Empire tags have been moved to the end of the name. Which definitely makes the tablist much more readable again. MOST of the reported bugs have been fixed. One key bug that hasn't been resolved is anything related to the Primary Empire. It has some weird caching issues cross-server. It will be fixed, just not yet. Also adjusted the in-game URL color. The original release used the Bold ยง9 Blue color which was hard on the eyes. Then I switched it to a lighter blue. I thought that went too far, so I split the difference to a new color. Though a lot of the bugs have been fixed. There have been a lot of great suggestions for the system. Many of those have not been added yet.
Wow. I've been reading for 15 minutes now, but am not yet close to the end. I will continue later. But this Empires update is amazing! I feel like it should make the news somewhere, but I'm not sure where. Maybe a subreddit? Or have there been other Minecraft servers before that had got something similar? What should we note?
I'm not sure if the update did this or a previous update, but it seems villagers are missing their final tier of trades. Even when egged and respawned.. can anyone else confirm this?
