Dragon Tombs - Where are they?

Discussion in 'Empire News' started by Aikar, Dec 4, 2012.

  1. Sure. I suppose. The harder to get a dragon egg the better though.

On another note, what a wild resets?
  2. I'm sure they will have ways to keep the claimed areas from resetting. I also don't see why dragon eggs should be rare seeing as how legitly playing the game you get them easily and they don't do diddly squat, until this update comes into play.

  3. well wild resets, if ever, are far away from now. The last wild reset was because the way maps were stored entirely changed. So it was a necessary thing, that had to be done. With the PRA's working, and Anvil making it so new map features will always be able to load in new chunks, I do not foresee a need for a wild reset any time soon. In fact, this could just make it easier for those who want to get to 'new' areas quicker. I could create an outpost far at the edge of the currently rendered wild. Then, people could use that outpost to venture into 'new' areas.

This could make things like wild resets a hushed subject. As going deeper into the wild will be much easier. And far more rewarding.
  4. I have a question on that, what dimensions of land would be available to claim. Would these depend on supporting the server and/or the amount of dragon eggs your spending? Does the claim have to be square?

  5. Alright guys, I just read the first page and I agree with Aikar - I would rather have an amazing new update than a rushed piece of crap. Also, my best advice to anyone that's "bored" is to make your own fun. It's actually quite fun - look at EMC from loads of different angles. :)
  6. Exactly, might I just add stimulating your brain through planning and engaging in a Minecraft project you'll not only grow mentally but will find yourself being drawn into EMC... It's just that kind of a server what is there to say, it's awesome :D

  7. Wilderness won't become town, don't worry. It is so huge, the we would need billions of players to turn in into a town.

What size shall the claimed piece of land have?
    I'd suggest at least 5x5 chunks, i.e. 80x80 blocks - or bigger,
as it seems to me to be usable size and also because of EntCount issues.

    PS:
About selling EMC land for real money -> "cheap diamonds"

    PPS:
This is a perfect example of derailing (or "spamming"?) a thread...
  8. I wouldn't call it spam, just a bit of "light-offtopic-ing" haha

Anyways, I believe all the details of land claiming in the wild has been decided on by staff :)
  9. will vault work out there?
how will we get items back?
or will it just be that you can claim land far out in the wild?
What will be the benefit's of claiming land if? 1. we have to travel back the same way as now? 2. The land can still or could still be griefed by other players?
Is it just the when the seed is updated you get to keep you area, and it is not updated to the new seed?
  10. When he said 'Claiming/Griefing areas close to spawn' he was more informing of PlayerA claiming a large plot of land, leveling it to bedrock, and then when PlayerB tries to walk that way, there is no way around it. The scenario that we are trying to avoid is, someone claiming enough area around any spawn point to actually prevent players from venturing further out without going through their protected/claimed land.

There will be a way back and forth between town from your claimed land. There will protections similar to what you have in town.

I guess the simpliest way to put it in understanding for most Minecraft players, especailly if are familiar with other servers that use it. Is, think Towny, but a way better EMC version.

  11. You'll most likely still have to go to town for vault, because that is a town feature.
Aikar's got a plan for this, but it's not walking or a train system. I'm not sure if we've revealed the details about this or not, yet.. Just know, it'll be fast.
You'll be able to claim land far out, yes, and it'll have more then just that feature.. ;)
The whole point of claiming land is to protect it from griefers, making it almost residence-like, in the ability to give flags to other members of your wild base. (Therefore, if you get griefed, it'll be your own fault for giving out those flags, much like town.)
..Asking about wild resets (Slightly confused)? Aikar's got a different plan for wild resets, but I don't believe it involves claiming land.
  12. Just need clarification here Aikar, A few days ago the grinder I have worked a little better then before as you said in you post then that you had increased the chunk loading area's from 4 to 5. It was not as good as it was back in 1.2 early days but it was still better.

At the moment I am standing at the grinder, its a natural one and not one mob has spawned at all for the past 20 plus min. So I take it by this post quote that they have been turned off ?

If this is so, will this be permanent? and if not can you say how long rough estimate of time it will be before they are turned back on?

I found this thread to be very helpful it has answered many question as to how things are at EMC, also shows how much players care for it also. With such great staff and supportive players EMC has a great future and its great to see new players coming to the servers.

A big hello to all the team at EMC
  13. That question (as well as some explanation and maybe even an answer) would be better placed here

  15. What about existing outposts within the unprotective zone an egg can claim? That means an outpost is still vulnerable, and having to migrate and re-settle can take a very long time. Ever since I've started I've been developing my outpost, I'd really rather not see if left unprotected while others can claim willy-nilly. Could there be exceptions for long-standing outposts?

  16. No.
  17. I've answered that earlier in this thread:

  18. Thanks a bundle, I don't think I read your post correctly the first time 'round.
  19. Great idea IcecreamCow, people would abuse it if there was no limit. The dragon tomb is a great idea, and EMC is already on its way to its former amazing glory. I joined just under a year ago, when we had three servers, and they were always full. Now, EMC is getting back to that point. I'm glad.

  20. What is the definition of an existing outpost? A certain area around a locked chest?

I've got a nice residence hidden underground far out in the wild. I'm happy taking the current risk, but I don't want someone to be able to suddenly claim it and lock me out.
