Today is the first day in many, that I've seen nearly 100% blue sky. I'm not letting my guard down as fire season for California is just beginning. That, and... the wind could have simply shifted, blowing the smoke away from the valley instead of towards it.
Los Angeles just cannot get a break in 2020. First it was COVID-19, now it's the wildfires. The Bobcat fire in Los Angeles County is one of the largest in the county's history on record. Over 100,000 acres burned and over 19,000 firefighters battling this inferno... It's really sad... :\ https://www.cnn.com/2020/09/21/us/bobcat-fire-los-angeles-county/index.html Click on that link for some hellish images, if you wish to see what it looks like down there.
This weekend is when we will be getting really hot temperatures. Not only that, but the wind we've been having all week, giving us blue skies, will be shifting. It's projected that the smoke from the wildfires will be blown back over my city. :\
A new fire just broke out in Shasta County today. That's quite a rural part of California, I hope that everyone was able to evacuate.
My mother told me that Denver's Air quality is the worst in the entire world. Even worse than BeiJing due to the fires.
https://www.msn.com/en-us/weather/t...illion-acres-burned/ar-BB19wgyQ?ocid=msedgntp 3,100 wildfires is not unique to California, sadly... However, the 3.7 million acres that were torched this year is very scary to Californians. That's not normal...
https://www.kcra.com/article/shasta-county-zogg-fire-september-30/34223740# Shasta County is being burned alive by the Zogg Fire. The video shows how disturbing it is to see the aftermath... :\ 4 people were killed in the fire and 156 structures were incinerated.
Mullen Fire 176,863 acres 75% contained https://inciweb.nwcg.gov/incident/7208/ Cameron Peak Fire 206,977 acres 55% contained Now beat the record for the largest fire record which was the Pine Gulch Fire (Photo of Estes Park) https://inciweb.nwcg.gov/incident/6964/ East Troublesome Fire 125,602 acres (Grew last night 100,000 acres) 5% contained One of the worst fires which currently is burning Grand Lake,CO a town on the headwaters of the Colorado River south west of Rocky Mountain National Park. Estes Park is now evacuated as continued highwinds till Sunday fan the fire. Cameron Peak Fire might merge. https://inciweb.nwcg.gov/incident/7242/ Calwood Fire 9,978 acres 24% Contained One of the most destructive fires in Boulder County for quite some time. https://inciweb.nwcg.gov/incident/7245/ Lefthand Canyon Fire 460 acres 43% contained In the same county as Calwood Fire, hasn't destroyed any homes. https://inciweb.nwcg.gov/incident/7247/ If I hadn't mentioned it before but this is the worst fire season that the western states have ever seen. The destruction of our forest of negligence has been unprecedented this year and can correlate of people trying to escape COVID-19 quarantine, 2020 what a year. This hurts me heavily because I have lived here for over 14 years and have happy childhood memories of the mountains lush of forests and animals, seeing the beauty that Colorado has to offer. If you do come to my state, if you live in my state, or plan to live here, we are going to be a charred state for a while. A heavy reminder that a little action as not tightening your trailer chains, throwing a cigarette bud out your car window, lighting camp fires and not putting them out after use, and using fireworks (Or any explosive) in dry conditions can devastate many. Thank you
