The redstone thread!

  1. I know this thread is kind of old, but I just found out, and, I didn't share my super-duper Item elevator jet, so, I updated the redstone testing world, and I'll share how it works:

The thing I talked about that started working again in 1.11 is the glass item elevator, but not the way it used to work, it now just works with a dropper facing into blocks of any kind that are surrounded at all sids (I think the picture explains it...) so, if you now want to build a item elevator you just need a rappid dropper item dispenser. A normal one is good enough for a single hopper line, but, what if you have got two hoppper lines you want to let go up in the same space? well, this is what I made, it's fast enough to bring 2.5 hopper lines up, but you can only let two go in... annyways, it works really quite easy, you just place a dropper facing upwards, a compartator facing out to that one (the only thing you can't see) a sticky piston getting a output from that comparator and two observers observing eachother to create a redstone clock when the piston is extended.
One warning I will give with this machine is that is it kind of a lagg machine, mostly becuase if you put one hopper line in it, the piston will constually extand, intract, extand, intract, wich isn't that good, so, if you think about using it, think about if the thing you want to use it for gives it enough items.

As for the thing that gets the blocks back into hoppers (I'd suggest just letting it be a waterstream untill you need it to be in chests) I'm using a quite smart system, the enderchests are there becuase it aren't full blocks, they mis one pixel (normal chests do not work, don't ask me why) wich creates the items to be at both, the ice and the hoppers, so that they are traveling fast and don't get stuck in the hoppers becuase they're on ice and are getting picked up becuasethey are on hoppers, you can also make a item soring system like this btw, wich is the fastest possible :)

annyway, let's just say it annyway, BUMP :)

  2. I was searching online for a simple binary incrementer and decrementer circuit, but couldn't find any that were extremely small and easy to build, so I made my own.
Most minecraft players would not have a use for such mechanisms, but i'm sharing it becuase I think it is cool. I am going to try using this to make a curser move around a screen, and possibly make a little game if i put more time into it.

the unit in green is an incrementer and decrementer together, which isn't compacted.
the orange unit is the decrementer alone, with 3 units put together. The input is the 3 levers on the bottom-left most side. The output is the top-right most side.
The lever to the left is to turn the decrementer on/off (if im not moving the curser, I dont want the value to decrease)

^ in this one i have an input of 010, and get an output of 100

^ Input of 001 is decremented to 110

^ if the input is 000, it will roll back the output to 111

^in this one, the decrementer is turned off, so the input is the output.

  3. Now this thread is bumped, I also made a thing:

This here is what I call a "fancy storage silo" you can infenetly expand it in any way as long as you don't hit any border and is just really fancy, this here holds 4*5 chests with an extra 4 single chests for output. why do I call it a fancy sistem?
Well, this is the way it shows how much items you've got stored, as you can see, this are 2DC, I know you can also use redstone lamps for this, but this just looks ways better, since it looks like it's actually getting filled up with the material. I also, of corse, made it all as fast as possible, I have used the double hopper line item elevator I talked about before I improved it with chests on top so that items don't get stuck on top. I also used a water steam based item sorter, with re-designed units to make it all a smidge bit smaller (fit in to the rest of the redstone) (I, whilst typing, also re-designed the item sorted, Now it's just water running over hoppers instead of the overly complicated way I used first (to make the items being picked up by hoppers even though they are on ice to make them go over it faster) since I found it being such a smidge bit faster not worth it using 3 packed ice per item sorted more. It also is one block smaller like this, so, in my oppinion it's better.

Also, this is what it looks like from the side, I know it's quite big for the amount of chests, but I personally really like the way it displays the amound of items like this.

  4. I know this is probably a typo, but that'd be quite interesting. :p
