I know this has been talked about several times in the past, and I know this is a big request for the dev team, but as I see Membership numbers trending lower every year, I feel like this is something that should seriously be considered. What I am proposing is to convert the server to bedrock edition so that mobile players can log in and participate. This is an amazing server providing an experiance unique and different from every other server I have participated in. I remember the early days when there were so many players, you would have neighbors in the wild or meet people in town. Now it's a ghost town unless you and some friends have begun an outpost. Maybe this is too big of a request, maybe I am being naive, but I would hate for this server to shut down due to lack of numbers. As an additional note, some of us (myself included) have grown up with this server and now have busy lives, unable to find time to sit at a computer. Converting to bedrock edition would allow us to once more participate the way we want. Thank you for listening. If there is a good way to log in through mobile, please let me know.
i would possibly change the suggestion to something more like allowing a port so that bedrock players can join as well as people who are using java instead of saying remake the server on bedrock. As for numbers part of your thing, it has been recently said by a high ranking member of staff that the server is self sufficient and is not loosing money.
Allowing a port so mobile/bedrock members could participate would be nice. I'm not ruling anything out, but then again I'm not part of the dev team either. Just here sharing my thoughts because I love this server and want to see it continue to thrive. Good to hear that finances are in good shape, I'm just thinking how to future proof the server. It's been around for over 10 years and I'd love to see it continue another or more years.
Geyser is a plugin that can allow Bedrock players to play on Java servers. I've heard this mentioned in the EMC Discord over a year ago, but I'm not sure if it's being considered or was chosen not to. It's been a long time. 🤔
yea and there was another one, started with a p but can’t remember the name. I gave it a try but never had any luck with it.
This was discussed last year june and this was Chicken’s reply And as for server decline and how it can improve I’d suggest to fill out this survey if you haven’t already Thread: http://emc.gs/t/86892 And also some of EMC’s recent post highlighting changes and path foreward: (Server RoadMap & forum updates)
Were you thinking of Pojav? I tried it and it works but in about 15 minutes I could fry an egg on the back of my Samsung S10.
That's the one yea, I wasn't able to make it work. Given those issues I wouldn't consider it a viable alternative.
I doubt that EMC would be more popular with Bedrock players than with Java players. Moreover, I think many Java players might be lost by being unwilling to move to Bedrock. Don't Bedrock players only play on mini-game servers? I might be very much mistaken, but that's the impression I have...
I think it used to be that way, but bedrock now encompasses both mobile (android and ios) consoles and pc. When you log in on pc you have the option of going to bedrock or Java with a simple mouse click. It’s a valid point that people may not want to switch from Java, (personally I think Java performs a bit better) but it’s not a huge inconvenience to go from one to the other. Plus there seems to be more players on bedrock overall
I will be dead in the cold earth before I ever personally click "Bedrock Edition." I am for adapting for them to come here, but I will never betray Java Edition.
That sounds overly dramatic to me. However, I think the sentiment will be shared by many of EMC's players. It would be great if we could allow Bedrock players to connect! Maybe Mojang could help with that at some point...
Right? I get it's not the original, but it is still playable. And the ability to connect with mobile players in the family is worth the trade off.
