So, I am building my shop, but I don't really know yet how I am going to be doing the lighting. I don't want to just put some torches down or gowstone/redstone lamps in the floor because I thought that doesnt really look too nice... However, my floor design uses furnaces for decoration, so I thought... what if I would use these furnaces to emitt light, they do that when they are burning something Just one 'tiny' problem though, like you probably predicted... This is not really energy friendly, it contibutes to global warming etc... And moreover I would have to constantly spend materials to keep my light working, and quite frequently too! (or I would need some kind of dropper system that is actively refilling my furnaces when the chunks are loaded). Maybe you guys have any suggestions?
You could have a light source block covered by a piece of carpet the same color or close to the same color of the floor?! Edit: It’s what we do out at an outpost I’m a part of to keep the area looking more natural than a sealantern just sticking out
I didnt think about that one yet, thats a really nice suggestion and I am going to try it out! Thanks
I think there's a lighting glitch with slabs, although it may be a pain and it won't have very much variety, you could do a design where you put glowstone or sea lanterns with cobblestone slabs on top, possibly. Like this, for example: (underneath the slabs are glowstone, covered by dirt on all sides)
No I mean how do you get the messages that are showed in the picture in the signature, especially the manual due to activity doesn't seem to make sense to me or am I missing something?
automatic due to no activity is something EMC automatically does after a certain period of time with no activity, and supporters can make custom AFK messages
It was clever use of the custom messages system. Like you used to have residence entry messages that would say you paid a certain amount of rupees to the owner. That means that if people view this thread later, they won't know if you're talking about what they think you're talking about, or they won't know at all, in case you've changed your signature since then.
Oh I just completely misread the picture I see now xP. For some reason I thought the third line was another user than he second line, even though it was both you . Thanks for explaining
I suggest using pistons: they let light true, and, placed facing downwards, they look the same as furnaces
I'm currently busy exploring a rather huge cave / mineshaft system around the SMP2 South East waste when I suddenly came across this. It was peculiar because the biome I was in (Taiga) isn't necessarily a cold one. It is cold (meaning: you'll get snow at a certain height instead of rain) but normally not cold enough for ice to form. So I explored and lit up this small cave and.... Now it almost looked as if someone walked over with frost walker. But that doesn't seem to be the case either (the area was pretty deserted). But even so, in no time most of the ice was gone. F3 even showed me that those weren't regular ice blocks but frosted ice. Which, to my knowledge, doesn't generate naturally. This seriously puzzles me One of those many cool Minecraft mysteries! Don't you just love this game? (edit) For the record: no, it wasn't me. I'm always wearing & using my trusty voters gear. Love that stuff. Reminds me that I was planning on a voters vs. god gear. Hm, maybe I can manage this weekend
Frosted ice can only be genarated by someone/thing with frostwalker boots. It does only go away at daytime or when there is a certain light level next to it though: so it would stay in the cave untill someone places a torch. I don't know if mons would be able to spawn with frostwakler, if they can do that, it would explain that too.
Here is another version... The picture on the left was taken November 2, 2015 (just four months after I joined EMC!) The picture on the right was taken February 10, 2018. I decided to go through my old computer and look at screenshots, and I found some from my first few months on Minecraft... so many memories... I would put an emoji or something here from the post editor but there are no emojis for what I am feeling right now... *sigh*
finally managed to clean up the 1st real room and several corridors, no more water! ^.^ im keeping the building so im only clearing out water from the inside. then im gonna add windows to walls and ceilings. the next room is the treasure room which is gonna be hard.
