Extra residences are the only big "advantage" over other players, since the rupee cost for that is slightly higher, still everyone gets a residence. Gold and diamond supporters don't get an automatic utopia plot, they are only given the option to claim one, which most players actually don't. Upgrading your vault is 10k rupees, and a regular member's limit is 2, but then there are Vault Vouchers, which are around 14k, and actually exceed your vault page limit. The extra rupees aren't that big of a "perk" either. If you get diamond for a month, you'll earn about 40k per month. Voting every day will get you 50k + bonus + tokens + a vault voucher every 20 days.

Any official event will get a server cap raise, to make sure no one misses them. The daily 40 player cap is to make sure the server offers the best experience to everyone. Would you rather wait a bit on a few days and play with no lag, or have a 100 player cap and get disconnected every 5 minutes?
