I'm sorry to step in, but this argument has been bugging me. By Krysyy stating that you were claiming check mate without looking at the pieces, it was just because you appear to have been jumping to conclusions, which is what I got at too. Anyway, it helps to have a good number of contribution team members as well as leaders because we know that, like you said, some people aren't going to be active or online at the time. It just helps to have those extra members as well as an extra leader so that we don't fall behind on updates and anything of the sort. I don't see why it matters whether or not Krysyy talks to people directly about joining the team anyway. If people want to join, then by all means they'll apply. They won't necessarily be "better" than another member by being asked by and admin to join the team. I don't want to say much more, but I feel like this has just turned to pointing fingers at each other. I don't know, I don't want anybody to argue more than they have to. Regardless, I feel like you guys having backed down from the contribution team should be a topic that shouldn't be touched, because the questions you asked Krysyy seem rather hostile from my point of view.
Ok, fair enough. I'll drop it. However... I wasn't coming after them you know. Why you continue to insist that some critics are attacking Alex and Fendy is way beyond me right now. But it does show what some of us have been trying to address here. <unwatches>
I think this would be a good time to get back to the point of thread now that everyone is done arguing.
Putting all of this aside, I would like to wish everyone who applies a good luck on their application!
What would be a good recommended amount of builds to include in a portfolio for build team applications?
A good variety is best. Some outside, some insides. Make sure that you've got at least one 'giant' build.
3-5 Decent sized builds or a scene of sorts (city, world tree, underground grove, steamship battle, or island villages) are some that come to mind.
I have got dozens of builds to show, quite a efw are alredey in place here, but, I now haven't even got enough time to vote everyday... I guess that that isn't really the mening of being build team, is it?
Jack has a problem with Comic Sans. Even when I'm TRYING to make it look like something that would have been painted on a sign and it was the closest font I had to terrible. =P
Alex showed me how to do these a while back since when I'm making posts, often not even the Moderators (or even SS) know the specifics of what's going out before it does. Mostly because if it's not important for them to know, there's no meaning to derailing their work for comments. It's far easier to put together a header when you actually know what the post is to be about, and the 30 minutes spent doing so is better than having to wait for someone else to do it (with regards to threads). HOWEVER, as mentioned in another post, we are likely going to look at sprucing up the wiki/blog with some graphics. And those, we might develop a graphics division of the contribution team for. Stay tuned for any official announcement once we get plans in progress.
The wording on that needs some help. It's supposed to read invite only AFTER sending in your portfolio. *pings contribution team* 'Update needed!'
Simply put, it's garbage considering that there are other programs that aren't used for just minecraft and can deliver things with higher quality
