  1. The MiG-21 has entered service after many years of development.
The MiG-21 combines fighter and interceptor characteristics. It is also cheap to produce and maintain (don't tell them the service life is 2/3s of the other jets!).
It is an excellent knife fighter and is able to fight off all existing Caliphate and SNE jets. With a 23mm autocannon and extensive array of Air-to-Air missiles and the best Radar on Earth. (There is very little difference between the IRL USSR Air Force and SEU Air Force, with one massive exception. The SEU Radar is better, easier to maintain and cheaper. There are a lot more differences between the Soviet Navy and SEU Navy.). It is fast, agile and supersonic, achieving Mach 1.05 at sea level and Mach 1.76 at 13 kilometers.
It is also incredibly abysmal at anything long-range. As in its range sucks, a lot. It is so abysmal that SEU is considering making attaching external fuel tanks mandatory, despite the drawbacks of such action.
Sukhoi has gone in a different design direction; namely, they have decided to unify their Naval and Long-Range Fighters into one Fighter, because both are so absurdly large that it would likely be cheaper to just make one type (given, there will be many differences between the Naval and Air Force variants) where parts can be exchanged.
The Su-12 has been split; the Navy will get the Su-12Voy made specifically for Carrier operations and to withstand the stress of steam catapults. The Su-12Vos will be the Air Force variant, with a less reinforced Airframe. Their ground attack and Air Superiority capabilities are the same. Honestly, the Su-12 (fictional) is probably the first multirole fighter in NN with a healthy mix of Air Superiority, Ground Attack and range. The Su-12 will enter service in a year.
SEU has ordered 2 jet Airliners from a Civilian company. They are undergoing modification to serve as transportation for the PL and other members of government; it is heavily modified to fit SEU's unique needs, just like the PL's Car. It will be defensible and a mobile headquarters for the SEU Government.
The PL either cooks himself or has a chef do it for him. Either way, Vodka is always never missing in state dinners within the USSR, with various brands being used. Soju and Baijiu are close seconds, with them used in all high-level meetings to defuse tension between officials, of course after all the important stuff is done because negotiations should be done sober.
The staples of SEU are Rice and Wheat, with various types of meat. China, consisting of more than 80% of SEU's population (a staggering 681 million. This is 4 times that of the IRL 1954 US, and the SEU GDP is three times that of the 1954 US. India isn't too far behind with a GDP two times that of the US and 460 million people.) eats the most rice.
    SEU essential statistics:
    • Population: 680,989,000 people as of 1954
    • GDP: 964,000,000,000 Soci (9,000,000,000,000 2018 USD)
    • GDP Per Capita: 1,415 Soci (13,208 2018 USD)
    • Land Area: 38.1 million square kilometers (given, at least 20% of this is uninhabitable desert or Siberian Wasteland.)
    • Notable Natural Resources
      • 194 billion tons of Coal
      • 138 billion barrels of Oil
      • 104 billion tons of crude Iron ore, 48.1 Billion tons of Iron content
      • Holds unclear amounts of Rare Earth Elements, near-monopoly on supply.
      • 176 million tons of Copper
  2. (I'm going to be making each of the networks separately by country/region/etc. This post is just the UBR, a couple cities in Russia, and Norway.)
The highway system is being renumbered to conform with the IHS (even though the UBR is getting rid of the old numbers used, not all places must do this). In red strikethrough are the old numbering and routes, and in green are the new numbering and routes.

  3. With the elimination of The Federation the SNE doesn't really have allies. UBR is on neutral terms and ever since WW2, the SEU and the Caliphate haven't really been considered as allies. But now the SNE, though not on the best terms, requests an alliance with the Caliphate (In case of another war) The SNE hopes that if this goes well, their will be a mutual trust between the nations.

In the SNE, the economy is decreasing. Unemployment has reached 20%, Only 2% is considered "rich". To fix this, more factories are built creating anything from clothes to cars and possibly tanks. This is also an operation to create more war materials.
  4. Dude, there is a loyal, Italian buddy who has been your friend ever since WW2. They're still on your side, and they really really hate the Caliphate.
Also, most of your nation is a Christian of some sort, mostly Catholics. Remember that the Caliphate murdered the Pope very publicly. And that most of your nations are majority Catholic of some sort. There is literally no reason to ally with the Caliphate, and even less reasons that your populace might support it. As a matter of fact, there is still a lot of lingering racism between the Caliphate, SNE and SEU, all of which regard themselves as superior.
  5. O yeah, Italy exists. Let me rephrase this.

The SNE tries to become friendlier with the Caliphate as for the hopes that if war breaks out they may have a friend. This isn't a full fledged alliance but just Detente. Easing of tensions. If this will give the SNE even the smallest advantage if a war breaks out, they will take it. This may anger the populous, but the SNE is fine with this. This might just help
  6. Cough cough
  7. The Caliphate wants a boost in trade relations. Europe produces a ton of cars, household appliances, utilities, radio communicstion and civillian grade things. The Caliphate wants this, and is also willing to sell and trade oil to the SNE.

In Iberia situations are still tense, but the South portion is basically self governed by the Spanish and Portuguese.
Ashqar knows about how his brother killed the Pope, and directly condems his brothers actions calling it "unnecessary and evil." Ashqar has given funds to the Church to help rebuild from their pains, and wishes to strengthen relations with the SNE. Italy however, was a massive thorn in the side.

If the SNE and Caliphate unite in friendship (religion doesn't matter in trade) then both can prosper, and the SNE would be able to get out of the dirt their country is in...
  8. There's a talk for how state is run, and whether religion should effect state and how companies can influence control.
As far as production goes, the government has ultimate say, but there are many companies which by themselves own their own factories and produce for the government, but mostly at a civilian scale, which military production is by high paid companies and controlled by the government.

With the Emir Act published by Ashqar and supported by multiple governing states, it will see the powers that Emirs have in Emirates.

In the end, Emirs who are Islamic (Arab) leaders/kings/chiefs exist. They keep their own hold in a monarchy stance, mostly in the areas of the Trucial States (Modern UAE). However, their power is limited by the Caliph. They are ultimately federally ruled over, and must give certain rights to the Caliph over their crown, making the Caliph have mostly full power. Although they do have the rights to their own states and have the ability to produce and build what they please, they are under Musawaism and Sunayyad law, and if they are asked of anything from the Federal government, they must at least recognize. They have power in the end, but outside of their Emirate, not as much.

To avoid the curse of plutocracy and aristocracy, Ashqar wants their self indulging budgets to be limited. All Emirs MUST pay tax and Zakat, and they must full fill the needs of their citizens and reduce on building fancy palaces. However, they do have control on the oil monopoly, making them insanely rich.

The Trucial States (UAE) have been dubbed a special state, semi-self governed by Emirs, and have been changed to the United Arab Emirates. They do hold Monarchy power in their own rights, however they are required to submit to the Caliph.

On who controls oil, it's a fight between the rich and the government. Nearly 70% of the oil is directly controlled by the government, but 30% of it is held on directly by private oil monopolies.
  9. ooc--
I'm going to be gradually updating this map for the International Highway System. It's nowhere near done. I'd like to be done some time soon.
    ic--
    Uppland-Class Aircraft Carrier
    31,000 tons displacement standard load
    43,000 tons displacement full load
    STOBAR configuration
    31.5 knots speed
10,000 nautical miles at 15 knots
    Carries 30-40 Aircraft
As another STOBAR Carrier, this is substantially cheaper to maintain and operate than the CATOBAR Carriers of SEU.
The Ski-Jump can use the upcoming Su-12Voy and the in service Su-8. While their capabilities are limited with ski-jump, they still work fine. It is reasonably cheap for the UBR, although it still works.
As a SEU design, SEU is willing to build the UBR 3 and sell it at a small profit.

  10. The issues on Food, Energy, and Water have been addressed and initiates are being done. Progress has been made.

Food importation has increased, although South American countries aren't apart of The Federation, they all focus on importation of goods to the Caliphate, at a much higher rate. For the most part, the Sunayyad people are vegetarian and vegan, mainly out of forced situation due to the fact that it is easier to grow crops than take care of livestock. Though, meat in cuisines are a specialty. Chick Peas, Rices, and Breads are a staple in the region. (And Kebab if you're from turkey)

Desalination plants are being researched. So far, various chemical processes have been tested for the process of filtering sea salt water into fresh water. The plan to create the world's first desalination plant will be built in what many estimate to be 1959, hopefully as far as current progress can tell.

For Energy, massive water dam projects are being made in the Euphrates and Tigirs rivers, code named the Baghdad project. Multiple massive dams are being constructed near the city of Baghdad, those of which are located in the Tigris and Euphrates rivers which will be used to control the flow of water for irrigation and to power the multiple cities in the region. Two dams have been built near the mouths of the Tigris and Euphrates river in Southern Turkey, and 1 Dam has finished construction in the Nile. Much more are planned, a lot more along the Nile, Tig. and Eup. and Jordan River, giving power to millions of residents and directing the flow of water for again, irrigation.

The Food, Energy, and Water initiative is the biggest non military project the Sunayyad government has begun, however, they ask the ministers of these categories in the UBR for help.

  11. SEU refuses to allow UBR to build highways to Japan, or any road networks to or from Japan. SEU hasn't demanded any reparations or compensation from Japan, instead opting to not let them have a military, or self-defense forces so Pirates can thrive. SEU also refuses to trade with Japan. This is pure spite.
OOC: Can we cooperate on this matter? I want to improve the Asian parts.
  12. Any way to make a road system for the Caliphate and MENA?
  13. The ministers of the UBR would be glad to help, however they already have their own problems due to... bureaucracy. The elections are coming up, and it looks as if the LSPY (the current government) might not get a majority due to a scandal in the middle-management positions of the party. They are focusing on trying to get their polls up so that the LSPY stays in power and, most of all, keep their jobs. The ministers will help all they can, but unfortunately, "all they can" is not very much at all.

  15. SEU execution methods: The Death Penalty is used sparingly for treason or mass murder.
    • Firing Squad: The cheapest and the method preferred by SEU, standard protocol is to aim for the head and heart to near-instantly destroy the brain's ability to think.
    • Carbon Monoxide: Used for lesser death penalty offenses. Considered a mercy for most circumstances, and often used as a way to compromise.
    • Cremation while Alive: Used for the most evil people. There aren't that many people in the world that are this messed up but considering that SEU has 700 million people there are around 10-20 bad eggs that have to be executed in this manner every year.
  16. Sunayyad Caliphate Death Penalties under Sharia Law practices: Only really used for the worst of people.
    • Firing Squad: Basic method, used as a cheap way just to kill of murderers, treasoners, rapists etc. without being ritualistic.
    • Hanging: Incredibly cheap, only a rope is used. A punishment very common, usually for the scum of the earth, easy and cheap because there is no point on wasting bullets on such scummy humans. Body is usually buried deep in the desert or cremated.
    • Beheading: At the same level as hanging in terms of crimes committed.
    • Stoning: Offenders are buried in the ground to their neck where the victims relatives (if willing) or towns people/whatever throw stones at the offenders head until they die. Reserved for literally the WORST of people, mass murderers, rapists and killers, child killers and what not.
As is common in Islamic tradition, the victim of the offender's closest relative etc are given permission to kill the offender without any penalty.

    • People who falsely accuse innocent lives are given the same punishment that the person they accused would receive.
However, the worst death above all is Desert Walking. Doesn't sound that bad, until you realize the offenders are forced a few months of free torturous "slave" labour in Saharan camps, and then once their work is done they are whipped until they bleed, and given a canteen and bread before being sent out into the desert. They have a choice to die in the desert or walk until they can find civilization. Little do they know, they are actually walking into the heart of the desert, and not to civilization to gain a free "escape" ticket. They always die, always. Rarely used, but for the absolute worst.

  17. UBR Capital Punishment: near non-existence.
Our prisons are meant to rehabilitate terrible people to prevent them from doing that bad thing again. That being said, this on a case-by-case basis, but a general rule of thumb is that, if the prison system fails to rehabilitate someone thrice, they are sent to the SEU for cremation whilst alive.
  18. SEU has retained the 280mm 50-Caliber and 203mm 55-Caliber guns for shore defense in important areas, because the 280mm and 203mm guns are reliable little buggers, small enough to be easily fortified against bombs and missiles (unlike the 406 and 457mm guns, which are too large to easily fortify), and is cheap. In addition, SEU has a few 280mm gun forts in the SEU-Caliphate border, which can be loaded with experimental Nuclear 280mm shells. The 280mm gun is a favorite of SEU, and will have a venerable military career serving as a shore defense, shore bombardment, and all-purpose superheavy land gun, of course with only the best targeting systems. It will be the final, lonely survivor of the long-gone Battleship era, serving well into the 2010s as a shore defense gun in some areas, and with new guns being manufactured into the 1980s.
SEU's 127mm 38-Caliber gun is a reliable gun, and even though replaced by the 127mm 54-Caliber gun in all new ships thanks to the 54-Caliber gun's superior AA and anti-ship performance, the 38-Caliber was the unrivalled best dual-purpose gun of World War 2. It did not earn that reputation for nothing, it was terrifyingly effective against all opponents and even now is partially effective against the MiG-21 (provided with good fire control systems).
    Let that sink in.
The MiG-21, the latest and greatest of SEU's fighters, and the only 2nd generation fighter jet in the World. Given, SEU has only procured 200 so far (They are planning to acquire another 500 or so by the Su-12's introduction), but still. The MiG-21, legendary in its performance, superior to any other existing SEU, Caliphate or SNE jet. Its sophisticated Radar and Computer guarantee results, and despite the fact that it is unergonomic and uses low quality materials almost everywhere else (directly resulting in its shorter service life), is still very effective.
In any case, SEU is funding UBR's road projects and making attempts to connect it with the Belt and Road initiative so that the Soviet Union may benefit and stand up for themselves.
In any case, the SEU is doing pretty well. The devastation of World War 2 has proved excellent; SEU's stringent regulation of the banks, and SEU avoiding service economics like the plague has resulted in SEU having only one path to go, manufacturing.
And oh boy, do people of the Caliphate and SNE with devastated homes need bricks and mortar! If only there was a nation that produced massive amounts of everything!
    And there is.
  19. *poke* trade?

The government is now looking to tax the rich by heavier amounts than the poor, although this has already been in action due to the amount of business people gaining riches off of oil, but because of the boom those rich business people are getting taxed much higher than before, and lower income families are being taxed much less.

It's an economic revolution in the Caliphate, a golden age maybe. The railways and highways have gained a steady income for the Caliphate, making them the optimal country for transportation and trade in their own borders.
Owning 3 of the world's most important trade routes (and the most well defended) has boosted the economy of the regions respectably high.
Much like the 1800s industrial revolution, farmers and fishers are finding jobs in the city for business and engineering/sciences and medicine. Is this from farmers and fishers being forced out of their jobs? No, it is just because:
    • More farmers are open to more techniques and technologies which allow them to work less and produce more.
    • Greater education leads many of the "new generation" to leave their farming families and work in the big cities.
    • The population is expanding fast, and infant mortality rates are lower than ever in recorded history of the region.
    • More office and corporate jobs are open, and there are actually SKYSCRAPERS which are being made to accommodate these people.
    • Universities and scholarships allow engineering, science, math and medical fields of education to expand rapidly.
Oil rich regions have begun extracting their oil and expanding their infrastructure, to the point where small fishing desert villages like *cough* Dubai are beginning expansion.
The region of Israel-Palestine is expanding as well. Business markets love the Jews, even though the top majority of the Caliphate is Muslim markets, Jewish businessmen are literally flying to the top like rockets. This has led to the Levantine regions to expand their markets rapidly and become a major progresser in the Sunayyad Caliphate.
Seriously, business is booming heavily, the sight of fishing villages and sheep herding oasis towns are now fading away, (although those communities still exist) and they make room for heavy infrastructure to expand. The Caliphate Golden Age has now begun.
  20. Brick? And Mortar!?? Wow this is amazing

The SNE proposes trade with the SEU.

The SNE is behind on some technology's, so science and engineering programs in the military are starting to pick up. Scientists are thinking of new massive weapons, but not sure of what it is. Everything else is unknown.
Engineering picks up and tanks and ships are expected to be made even more in the future.
