  1. TUN examines The Empire huge growth in culture and diplomacy with other countries and is not happy. They already took over 2 major countries, China and India and envy the thought of the United States. TUN fears The Empire's theocratic ideals may lead to world domination. TUN closely monitors The Empire's moves, at least no one is being hurt... yet...
  2. Let me just clarify the Empire's mindset.
They operate under three assumptions, which can be quickly changed.
    1. There is a god are gods, and they can be influenced through National actions.
    2. The Empire has nothing to gain by further conquest.
    3. The Empire is full of fallible humans.
    The reasoning behind these assumptions.
    1. They have seen gods' effects. They have seen them change reality with a few clicks. Therefore, there must be a god, and because they have seen gods discuss "Rules of the Game", gods must have their own order, which they could influence through actions.
    2. The Empire is already dangerously overextended. While the Empire is doing well, anyone who wanted to bring it down could utilize this. Further conquest will only exacerbate the problem by draining the Imperial population of fit men and women and creating new territory to govern.
    3. They have seen the failings of Stalin and the Korean and Chinese bureaucracy. They do not want to repeat their mistakes.
This is the Empire's current actions.
The corruption purges were based off a system, not a human deciding things. This made the purges... brutal, at best. It also prevented any big issues with corruption, because no one wants a 20-year jail stint or death. The Empire detests corruption, the Theocracy seeing it as the greatest blasphemy to gods, and the Democracy seeing it as a disease that should be wiped out with no mercy.
The overextension assumption was formed with the annexation of India, and the constant violent riots that occur sporadically and randomly, with no organized resistance. Most independence movements are betting that the UKNS and TUN will force the Empire to keep the 5-year vote word, and are using books and words. Of course, the Empire is countering with bread and circuses. This proved to be a bigger problem than actual organized resistance, because organized resistance can be crushed. Random riots, cannot, and this forces an eternal police presence.
The Treletian ICBM retconn was not the first reality retcon the Theocracy observed. They saw another one, and certain members can even see otherworldly meanings within reality itself, which amount to rules and discussion. Most committed suicide, claiming that their existence is nothing but a game for the amusement of said gods. Some, however did not lose hope. Some used their power to see by steering the Empire to benevolence and ethical behavior. To date, they have predicted several events, which allowed them to seize a fair bit of power. This, is the sheep of god we know today. Two, however formed the group "All is Illusion", a movement to educate the world about their truth. They are right. Their end goal is to educate the world and to allow them to realize the nature of their existence.
We see you. We can hear you. We can sense you.

  3. The great thing about a theocracy is that they operate according to ideals.
Democracies can be hijacked, but Theocracies with proof of their ideology? No.
This is the Empire's greatest advantage.
The second one is the Empire's sheer amount of resources, but that's a bit limited considering the amount of corruption that might occur.
The Empire has comfortably taken their place as a superpower. They want to make sure they remain uncontested. There is only one country on the Global stage that even compares to the Empire in raw capability, and that is The United North. Of course, the Empire is still rife with problems, limiting their ability.
A good relationship with The United North is crucial to making sure that the Empire remains unchallenged.
India is the last phase in a 6-year long plan. To create a vast Empire stretching over Asia, to be the greatest. Yes, some hurdles remain. But this is the endgame, and now the Empire must get used to a new type of diplomacy.
Being a superpower, getting used to power.
Acting like a superpower, not swinging their power around.
In their capacity as a superpower, not tipping the world in any one direction with power.
This is a new challenge, one that will plague the Empire for as long as they remain this powerful.
This is a new phase, one where the Empire must make sure to have webs of allies, and to make sure any upstart nation or organization cannot stand up to them and destroy them. This is new.
Of course, eventually, they will go the way of so many Empires before them. It's just a matter of how long they hold up.
In the end, it's just a matter of how long they remain great. They cannot keep this up forever. Inevitably, a combination of foolish leaders and dire circumstance will fell the mighty Empire.
This is simply a matter of when those two arrive at once.
The current government has realized this.
This is the reason for assumption 3.
But even that assumption will not mean the Empire lasts forever.

  4. Of course, even the Empire is rivalled. (Out of Game: the respective nations know nothing about this. This is directly to the players themselves as insight into the Empire.)
The UKNS-TUN alliance stands as a particular short-term problem, with them having forced the Empire into renegotiation of the annexation of India (however secretly). They exceed the Empire in many ways, and overall is much stronger. This is a massive problem for them, because the UKNS has a history of stifling Imperial ambition.
The Trelet-TUN alliance stands as a longer-term problem. While not currently a problem, the moment a nation trying to emulate the USA comes along and joins them? The Empire now has a USA power boosted with Canada to deal with. This is not a good thing, primarily because what remains of the USA views the Empire as:
    • Communists.
    • Warmongers.
    • Expansionists.
    • Evil.
    • The Villian.
If they decided "die, Empire? The Empire would have to fend off a superpower reassembled. The Empire fears that when the smoke clears, they will fall apart, regardless of whether they win.
Really, the TUN is the Empire's biggest single-nation worry. Their fleets are big and strong, and could block off the Empire from Japan, a huge defeat for the Empire. They also have oil, and are on good terms with many nations, which worries the Empire significantly.
This is the list of Imperial worries, so far. It will grow.

  5. Trelet celebrates 2 years!

We have done a check on our military equipment. It's not looking good.
    --- Donated by TUN, post 168 ---
    3x random battleships
    3x random aircraft
    50x M46 Pattons
    1x T32E2
    1x M24 Chaffee
    -------------------------------------------
    --- Donated by TUN, post 218 ---
100 New Tanks, mainly the new M46 Patton, M4A3E8 Shermans, M24 Chaffees, 3 T32E2's, and a small batch of the newly produced M41 Walker Bulldogs.
25 New aircraft, not all the newest models, but great fighters nonetheless.
    3 Naval Ships
    50 Armoured Cars/Trucks
and an assortment of Artillery, mortars, and anti aircraft weaponry.
    -------------------------------------------
    355,000 military members

It has become apparent that we need to get more stuff. We start production of 15 AJ Savage aircrafts, 350 P-51 Mustangs and 300 B-25 Mitchells. We also build 400 M46 Pattons and 4 Mitscher ships. Construction of these will take 8 posts (till 235)

Edit: this post gave me elite member rank!

  6. The Empire only continues to worry.
It might be time to speed up missile development.
(As if it wasn’t fast enough already, the scientists are getting all the money they need and then some.)
As well as Nuclear Weapon development.
(They’re decently funded and staffed, but the Empire wants to kickstart them.)
I’ll do a military overview at some point.

  7. Trelet sends 1 naval ship gifted by TUN out to Malaga Island at the Maine-NH line full of soldiers (about 1,500 onboard) and set up a small (and temporary) community on the neighboring Smuttynose Island.
We also send a military member every 0.1 mile along the 200-mi ME-NH border. That's another 2,000 soldiers.
Another 700 soldiers are sent along the NH-MA border. We are advising TUN to do the same around the Canada and Vermont borders.

Trelet formally requests New Hampshire give up their land to Trelet, but they refuse. We send over 50,000 soldiers to Manchester and another 50,000 to Portsmouth, and yet another 50,000 around the Monadnock. While Treletian soldiers are taking southern NH, the 1,500 soldiers on Smuttynose Island have a swift takeover of the Star, Lunging and White islands. Meanwhile, the Seacoast area of NH was also quickly taken over because the population there was less than the number of soldiers we sent! The >100 injured as well as 1,500 other soldiers stay behind in & around Portsmouth while the other 48-some thousand go to help with the Merrimack Valley takeover, which isn't doing so well, considering the capital and largest city is in that region.

  8. TUN finally finishes their long awaited pipeline through Buffalo, New York, and to Regina, Saskatchewan. Environmentalists had some strong opinions about the pipeline, but it was finished and gave a huge amount of jobs. Now the pipeline will easily transport clean energy.

One problem though, Vermont. Ever since Vermont was colonized, there have been nonstop riots and conflicts. People are angry about the fighting that ensued to take over Vermont. There have even been small rebel and anarchist groups that have popped all around the state, which have led to insane property damages by vandalism and large amounts of money and military equipment stolen. TUN has no idea what to do, as they do not want to be violent again and be seen as warmongers, but something has to be done. TUN can't be no more Mr. Nice Guy.
  9. TUN sends a large amount of military personnel into Vermont, and around the New York and Canada borders. Action has to be done, and that would be to use militarized for, or.... Propaganda...

Or maybe a new Justice system!
  10. TUN plans on refining the courthouses and laws around Vermont, and to enforce these heavily. Military personnel have been given the mission to flush out rebel groups and to protect military bases.

TUN also starts construction of military bases all around Vermont, this will take 3 posts.

TUN wants to make sure all law-abiding citizens know they are safe and free. Rebels and Resisters will be met with force and punished by prison time.
  11. Soldiers in New Hampshire & bordering it: 154200
    Soldiers on Standby: 200800

We send 10,000 more soldiers into Monadnock, which seemed to intimidate them enough to give up the region. We keep 2,000 there and move the other 58,000 north into Dartmouth, another key area. We send another 90,000 into Merrimack Valley, but it's such an important area to New Hampshire they refuse to give it up.

  12. Dartmouth was surprisingly easy to capture, considering 90% of the military are fighting the 180-some thousand (if my math is right) in Merrimack Valley. They leave 4,000 behind and let the other 54,000 go to the Lakes region. Maybe if Concord is completely surrounded, they'll give up...
Yes! Well, kinda. A few minutes after it had been announced that the southern portion of Lakes had been occupied, they let us have all of the Merrimack Valley except for a single area where the city hall is. We surround the hall and they agree to letting us have the entire state as long as all government employees and military personnel are pardoned from all crimes. We accept.

New Hampshire is now part of Trelet. Population statistics and military stats coming soon.

  13. POPULATION TOTALS:
    Trelet - 19M (rounded)
    PA - 10.5M
    MA - 4.7M
    CT - 2.01M
    ME - 915K
    NH - 535K
    DE - 325K

Trelet Military Total, Pre-Merge: 355,000 members
NH Military Total, Pre-Merge: 225,000 members
NH imposed a mandatory draft that Trelet has removed. 10% of the pre-merge NH military decided to stay, which is much more than expected.
Trelet Military Total, Post-Merge: 377,500 members
Trelet Military, New Hampshire Division Total, Post-Merge: 22,000 members (500 of them moved to Maine Division due to being in such a rural area)

The Empire is disgusted at best.
Conquest with honor, conquest with war against the enemy? That is one thing.
Conquest without honor, by trading with the enemy subversion of justice? That is another.
The Empire demands information on the "crimes" of New Hampshire's government and military officials.
The demand is worded somewhat like this.
    To the leaders of Trelet.
The HMKX Empire has taken note of your recent invasion of New Hampshire. The Empire has, similarly taken India. However, India was treated well. The victory was honest. After this, we have treated India as one of us, with all the precluded benefits of cultural preservation. They were even allowed to keep their flag. However, the Empire is beginning to question what happened in your invasion of New Hampshire. Imperial intelligence suggests a deal was made between your nation and the leaders of New Hampshire. Specifically, a deal involving pardons. Reveal the nature of the pardoned crimes to the Empire, at once. Your victory may not be like ours, and the Empire would be quite displeased were that be the case. The Empire stands, for most of all, peace and justice. Pardoning corrupt officials, a 20-year sentence at best in the Empire, would be an ideological insult to the values of the Empire. To put it in bluntly in your terms, flipping the bird. Retrieve the pardoned crimes at once. Make this information public to the world, or face a referral to the GAD with mild economic sanctions. We will, in kind make our information of India public. It is only fair. Forgery will be met with an immediate referral to the GAD, with the Empire advocating for heavy sanctions economically, and possibly a referral to the Human Rights board, which has the authority to launch invasions, one of two boards to do so.
    Yours truly, HMKX Congress.
(The other board is the Board of Security.)
  16. To the HMKX Congress,
We agreed to the contract before knowing what crimes were committed. We assumed these crimes were ones like "fighting back against the Trelet Military" (5-yr. sentence) and "spying on Trelet" (15-yr. sentence for the spy and all people involved) but then found out these crimes were much worse than that. Such as sending Hampshirites to Massachusetts and Maine so that they can get political office and slowly deteriorate the neighboring states by cutting down on military funding, etc. so they can eventually take over Trelet with no resistance. They had been doing this since before Trelet was even organized by the 5 states of DE, PA, CT, MA and ME, looking to form a stronger government. NH thought this was an advantage, because they would take over 5 states instead of only 2. They were wrong, because we had been planning to take over their state from the beginning. Another crime they committed was bribing hundreds of Treletian government workers & political office holders millions of dollars in order to be in their favor. When one worker came up to us and said they had been attempted to be bribed by NH, we sped up our work by 500%. Another crime was gathering up Treletians who had a small criminal record and encouraged them to commit crimes against the government. Obviously our intelligence agency isn't doing good at all which is why we are doing investigations on all of them and have hired a new intelligence group.

  19. This is why TUN doesn't participate in many international government organizations. Being restricted and told what we can and cannot do is something we do not want, unless it comes down to dictatorship, which we do not support.
  20. It's been published to the Trelet Papers. They are also sending it to the Indian newspapers (if there are any)
