FIRST BATTLE OF MOSCOW Outcome: Great HMKX Victory: EC Spearhead shattered by first line of defense; Moscow rendered uncapturable for several months. Stalling of Northern EC offensive and beginning of Northern HMKX offensives. The HMKX 14th Combined Arms Army, which regrouped to Moscow joined the totally intact 3rd Army Group, adding about 240,000 thousand soldiers unto the 560,000 thousand soldiers already stationed there. The HMKX 4th Tank Corps, with 240 tanks and other armored vehicles joined them. The HMKX 6th Combined Arms Army, with about 120,000 soldiers joined them from being driven back from being defeated by a smaller EC Force. The 6th army was quite well supplied and was able to deliver vital food and ammo to the HMKX defense. All of HMKX's defeated armies converged at Moscow, and heavily reinforced the 4 defensive lines. The European Commonwealth Force, numbering about 680,000 thousand soldiers was split into the European Commonwealth 8th and 9th armies that was defeated by the HMKX 14th combined arms Army, as well as the 12, 13th and 14th armies. The FRNS forces numbered 140,000 in total with the FRNS 5th army having been replenished with reinforcements. The FRNS 5th Army began their attack by striking the Northeastern part of the Oblast. However, they were repulsed by the HMKX 4th Tank Corps and the HMKX 1st Combined Arms Army. The casualties on both sides were negligible. FRNS's minimal losses tactic had been used to make HMKX losses larger. The failure for this tactic to work properly would be crucial. However, this was diversionary. About 140,000 troops had been diverted to defend the Northern Part of the Oblast, weakening the HMKX Empire defenses. The showdown came at the Northern part proper, as a FRNS Artillery Bombardment commenced. The EC Force struct the First line of defense manned by the HMKX 13th Combined Arms Army, under the 3rd army group as well as segments of the 14th Combined Arms Army. The European Commonwealth rammed into the Western area of the HMKX defensive line with a large tank corps. The ensuing fight was brutal, but suffice to say that the EC temporarily pulled back to reorganize their forces. The HMKX 13th and 14th armies were both All-Russians and needless to say the resistance was fanatical with , Soldiers not surrendering under any circumstances where an EC soldier would surrender, HMKX forces giving and following without hesitation near-suicidal orders, and Soldiers charging positions that outnumbered them by 2 and winning. HMKX took heavy losses, but the EC was routed. At that moment, HMKX's concentrated air attack broke the back of the EC Air Support. The 13th Army and 14th Army commanders, sensing a change in the battle reorganized themselves and attacked the slightly dislocated European Commonwealth 12th Army which was completely surprised at the HMKX attack and terrified at the sheer determination of the Russians, driving them right into the HMKX 6th Combined Arms Army, who was relatively small was coincidentally in a position that completely outflanked the fleeing EC soldiers. The 6th Army was mixed Russians-Chinese, but the Russians as well as the Chinese both rallied to strike the EC 12th army which was now completely surrounded. Had the 6th Army been smaller, the EC 12th army would have broken out. The HMKX 13th army gave a small path of escape. The now completely panicked 12th army fled and was met with HMKX bombers, that at first inflicted heavy losses; at this point, the 13th army offered terms of surrender. The 12th army accepted. Needless to say, losing an entire army is neither good for morale or battle performance. EC has been forced to retreat.
FIRST BATTLE OF VOLGOGRAD Outcome: Minor EC Victory: EC damages HMKX defenses and forces first line of defense to merge with second due to damage (there are 3), repulsed. Beginning of Southern EC offensive. HMKX, taking full advantage of Moscow's victory has forced several divisions through EC lines and attacked them via the air. HMKX is counterattacking and surrounding more and more EC forces, driving them back in HMKX's revenge. EC's Northern Russian offensive is stalling and weakening, becoming extremely problematic. The savagery of the Russians, loaded with rage is unseen and terrifying. Even the Chinese and Indians are impressed and inspired. The South, however is a different story. Volgograd's defenses are weakening and problems are emerging. A Southern Attack might be smarter. Meanwhile, HMKX declares that "Estonia is next", "Ukraine shall be retaken" and "Central Europe will be filled with HMKX soldiers". HMKX secretly reassures UNAFR they will not dismantle EC if they win, nor will they dismantle the European Military, nor will they demand ridiculous reparations.
A reminder on UNAFR capital punishment. The UNAFR still practices the death penalty, although at a smaller rate, with an average of 8 executions per year. Yet, people still oppose it. The death penalty is reserved for the worst of criminals, serial killers, family murderers, and those who rape, torture and kill others. It is basically only used for people who kill others in the most gruesome ways. Some may expect that the death penalty is just a quick way to escape life, but that isn't really the case. In some instances, inmates on death row have waited 10 years for their execution, and that isn't that different for others. Many other deranged and mass murderers and family killers are tortured by waterboarding, starving and beatings. This has only been done extensively in one Prison though, a prison in Alaska, and there have only been 4 incidents in the past 5 years of extreme torture to death row inmates. This information is hidden from the public, although many people are for some reason calling it out as inhumane. Ways of execution: Hanging, Lethal Injection, Gas Chamber, Firing Squad, Electric Chair. The most popular is Lethal Injection because it is the most humane, although a recent trend has shown that serial killers who tortured, held hostage and raped their victims have all experienced the Electric Chair. Legal documents state that the electric chair takes around 1 minute to fully disable the prisoner, although this is never the case, as a man who murdered his daughter on her 11th birthday was found out to be tortured, starved and then sent to the electric chair, which took 12 minutes of slow excruciating pain to kill him. The mass public doesn't know what to say about this information, although they were re-informed that this was only used on one occasion, and in reality, most executions via electric chair take 2-5 minutes. Since the UNAFR still wants to be as humane as possible, most murderers with no valid excuses to their crimes are sent to life in prison. Prison conditions in the UNAFR aren't that bad, sure, they are not like 5 star hotels, but they aren't like the dumps that the HMKX probably still uses. Inmates aren't tortured 24/7, and everyone gets at least enough light, food and fresh air. Again, it isn't pleasant, but they aren't chained in a dark mud hole for the rest of their lives. Besides, rapists and child molesters are more than not killed by other inmates for their actions, and guards are alerted of their crimes and barely bat an eye if someone beats a child predator up. In shorter words, the UNAFR prison and punishment system is as humane as it gets, without being too much of an ease trip. Execution, torture and rough conditions are only given to extremely terrible people, such as serial killers, and generally every type of murderer without a valid excuse which tortures or rapes their victims, or kills children. In reality, though, the death penalty is rare, and torture isn't very common. There has never been a case where anyone has been tortured or executed for any crimes which didn't involve the murder of the victim.
HMKX's Army is not yet ready. I mean, they could theoretically launch an invasion of the EC right now. But half of them would die from trekking a desert with no water. (HMKX isn't stupid enough to go through Russia itself. Kazakhstan will do.) Also, this is an all-in-attack, with everything gambled here. HMKX will take no chances. This is a repeat of India; India where long supply lines did not kill HMKX because they prepared for years. HMKX has secretly reassured UNAFR they will not dismantle the EC nor will they annex anything. HMKX also makes motions indicating they will invade the bulk of Europe.
HMKX is making its Northern Counteroffensive. Russian reserves, fanatically determined push EC troops backwards, out of the Moscow Oblast and into the surrounding Oblasts. The only ones who can match them are Gurkhas, and even then they are outmatched by the trained HMKX killers, the very same that participanted in OPERATION SCANTRON.
Oh no The SOG is in a state of Panic; PROJECT INFINITE HUMANITY is in effect. All selected Ideal Genetic Carriers have been identified and ordered to board the vessel. HMKX desperately reassures UNAFR they will not annex anything, nor will they dismantle the EC or European Military. They will punish those who committ atrocities. Just don't end the World.
The European Commonwealth is reinforcing the men lost in Moscow with hundreds of thousands more men. They set up an artillery barrage outside of the city and fight to encircle it.
The Russians, seizing on an overextended EC front line moves to encircle another Army. EC can't keep this up. The Soldiers sent to reinforce aren't there yet, so there is time yet. Meanwhile, Volgograd catches a break from constant EC attack. Russian resistance is becoming more and more problematic, with Partisans disrupting troop movements. The soldiers are fighting with a ferocity that is only matched by the best of FRNS. HMKX starts bombing EC troops, realising that despite the fact soldiers are literally starving to death they aren't stopping. Moscow will be defended to the death. SECOND BATTLE OF MOSCOW OUTCOME: Major HMKX Victory on Operational and Strategic Levels. EC Victory on Tactical level. FRNS attempted to bombard the City itself with artillery strikes. To achieve this FRNS overextended the line heavily, and HMKX took full advantage of this with an airstrike as well as an infantry attack from a newly organized HMKX army completely dislodged the EC from the outskirts of the City. Meanwhile, the Empire had organized a large armored force and prepared to use it to encircle the EC forces fighting. This was done successfully, cutting off an entire division from the rest of the line. Meanwhile, in the Northern end HMKX launched an offensive to break down the EC attack. As they had focused far too much on Moscow, HMKX was easily able to break through demoralized Czechoslovakian defenders. In a poetic repeat of World War 2, HMKX broke through. However in the ensuing battle to create new lines of battle HMKX sustained heavy losses, blunting their charge, tactically being defeated. However Operationally they have created a large bulge in the FRNS lines as well as proven HMKX can strike back.
OOC: Even if HMKX wanted to end UNAFR, they can't. Unlike EC, HMKX is literally an Ocean away and would gain nothing from marching through Canada all while being hounded by Hostile resistance. Also, Nukes. HMKX is honoring the treaty. Also, HMKX isn't lying when they say that they're not dismantling the EC, disassmble the European Military, letting atrocity-doers go or annex anything. EDIT: Otus I swear to god, If this is another one of your instant-OP moves I'm having the SOG intervene directly and blowing it to pieces, undoing the damage with Magic and coming up with a few insta-OP moves of my own.
UFOS has decided that they will side with HMKX in this war as they are one of the trusted nations but if HMKX makes a move toward nukes or UNAFR UFOS is pulling out of the war
Commencing: Operation God Hates Us All After months of vital planning, defence, intense fighting and neutralizing, the UNAFR is finally putting the final nail into this via a large scale military operation. Along with this planned attack, the NPATAR involved themselves, sending 100,000 troops into the wasteland, along with Pakistan, the UNAFR-Pakistan-NPATAR force amounts to 400,000 troops. A massive number, although these troops also amount for the Airforce and Navy. In the morning, at roughly 5:30 PM, a time where the sun was still scratching the scorched desert, the President called for Operation: God Hates Us All. The Operation is simple but complex, invade the Taliban and Al Qaeda through every direction, squeeze them like processed ham into a tin can, and then obliterate them and find Osama Bin Laden. It started in Kabul, just as workers were rising to provide for their families, the UNAFR called for an entire city lockdown, shutting all city quadrants. UNAFR special OPs teams then spilled into Taliban controlled territories and commenced bloodshed. Taliban headquarters in the outskirts of the city were blown to pieces, then searched heavily by Special OP forces, making sure of their fate. Kabul was easy to take over, but the rest of the cities were not. In that same morning, every city with even a pint of Taliban resistance was invaded and liberated. Taliban were pulled out of their homes and shot in the streets, weapons dealers, bomb makers, and even riot leaders were either executed or detained. Bombing commenced, targetting any place of Taliban refuge, civilian homes and commercial buildings were avoided, hospitals, schools and government buildings especially were avoided and were even protected by UN fighters (the UN doesn't exist in this game, so when I say UN it is short for UNAFR). At the end of the day, every major city was liberated and under UN control, the urban Taliban population shrivelled into small resistance gangs by the end of that day. In the desert and mountains though, that's where immense gunfire was exchanged. Pakistan invaded through the East and South borders, while the UNAFR took to the skies, dropping hundreds upon hundreds of tons of bombs on Taliban positions, giving the B-1B Lancer and the B-52 an incredible name for themselves. The UNAFR forced Iran to close their east border to anyone breaking through, threatening them with war if they found Iran was in support of the Taliban. The Stans graciously allowed the UNAFR to invade from the North. Where troops were, the A-11 and AC-130 Gunship were. The A-11 focused on swooping in from nowhere, deploying a massive rain of bullets and then following it with that incredible Air-to-Surface missile combo, completely splitting armoured vehicles and houses into nothing. The AC-130 acted as a cloud in the sky with the ability to shoot bullets, entirely chopping up Taliban troops hiding in ridge lines and buildings. UNAFR troops entered into villages, killing off any resistance while still keeping civilians safe. After each village was liberated, traps and IED's were dismantled and civilians were given shelter, food, water and medical treatment. The new M5 Gun holds up very well, having systems which block any chance of receiving dirt and sand, while also still being reliable if crap gets into the gun systems. The RK-12 for the NPATAR troops holds up increasingly reliable as well. Within an entire day, Al-Qaeda and the Taliban lost over 40% of control over the country, estimated to only have 5% of the land within their reach, that land is just rock and sand anyway. UNAFR planes and bombers targeted Taliban training camps and hideouts in the mountainous regions, blowing them up to bits with bombing never seen in that region before. In one instance, a massive cave system in the mountains which supplied resistance forces with ammo, food, supplies and weapons was literally flattened, killing an estimated 200 Taliban in the attack. They had held UN forces off for weeks, hiding in the mountains firing upon anyone who peeked their head out of anything. The bombing force of the equivalent of a small nuclear bomb was much needed, calling the end of a huge Taliban presence and trade road in the Northern Mountains. The MQ-1 Predator used in the operation was absolute groundbreaking. The Predator was the main source of key information in the operation, without it, there wouldn't have been such a wide extinction of the Taliban. The Predator also found something new... Osama Bin Laden. No, the Predator didn't find where Osama was headed, they FOUND HIM. He was discovered hiding in a remote village at the Afghan-Pakistan border, where he was followed by the Predator drone. The Pakistan government was notified and urged to avoid him at all costs. The UNAFR wants him under strict surveillance, they want him alive because Osama was proved not to be the only operative in Al-Qaeda. If the UNAFR can find more than one Al-Qaeda leader to kill, they will be extremely happy. The Navy Seals are on their way to Abbottabad. This Operation saw the cost of many lives, mostly Taliban, but also NPAT-UNAFR-Pakistan troops, and even civilians killed by accident in shootouts and unintentional bombings. This operation saw the estimated force of 12,000 Taliban/Al-Qaeda fighters plummet down to an estimated 4,000. That number is expected to plateau and then drop within the next year, as long as the UNAFR keeps fighting. This operation also means that the UNAFR has dominate control in Afghanistan, who has now placed a brand new government, this time one that fights for peace and for the good-will of their people. The UNAFR's mission isn't over yet, they still have a lot to do, such as killing Osama bin Laden, destroying the Taliban and then helping reconstruct Afghanistan. OOC: The reason why Afghanistan was so easy to conquer and hold in this game is a few main reasons. The Soviets never invaded, although since the HMKX is the closest thing to the USSR, the HMKX Empire never invaded Afghanistan. The US didn't supply Mujahideen, who transferred as the Taliban because there was no need to. There was no large-scale resistance because the Soviets never invaded and caused a massive hellhole, meaning the only reason to fight was because of hate towards West Culture (Now that I think of it, this war makes no sense. HMKX never invaded Afghanistan, meaning Afghanistan was never touched for so many years, so there is no reason for the Taliban, meaning this situation should have never happened in-game)
UFOS assistance is not yet needed. HMKX thanks them. Volgograd catches its breath, it was on the verge of collapse. If Volgograd falls, HMKX will be forced to pause its northern offensives to retake it. Every one of HMKX's allies want HMKX to beat the hell out of the EC. As their leader, HMKX will oblige even if they don't want to. They are the leader, and that gives them responsibilities. They have to do these responsibilities, even if they don't want to. And they want to. A lot.
UNAFR leaders secretly question who the mentally issued one was who made the idea to invade Russia. First was Sweden, then Napoleon, then Hitler, now FRNS. Absolute waste of time, the only way to defeat the HMKX is by diplomacy, or by nuclear force, which would signal the end of the world.
OOC: It was about Afghanistan, not europe I won't bother protecting the EC, UNAFR signed the peace pact and it's their honour to keep it. The UNAFR is glad, since Romania hasn't been touched at all. Romania tried to reinforce the Black Sea, but NPAT told them to stop being dishonourable.
POST FOR FUNSIES AND ACTION POST This is just fun facts for battleships. The age of the battleship is over. Battleship Calibers and Turret Layouts: 2-gun turrets, quadruple: PROS: Can't take out everything with one shot, firepower divided evenly. CONS: Not much firepower for displacement (relatively). If FRNS built a battleship (WW2 era), it would probably be this. Probably UFOS too. 3-gun turrets, triple (Warlord's choice): PROS: A lot of firepower for its displacement, nice compromise. CONS: Firepower uneven, able to take out a 1/3 of the ship's firepower with 1 good hit. If UNAFR or HMKX built a battleship (WW2 era), it would probably be this. 3-gun turrets, quadruple: PROS: Crap ton of firepower for not much displacement. CONS: Expensive, requires large ship. 4-gun turrets, double: PROS: Roughly equivalent firepower to first option, lot less displacement. CONS: Prone to failure. A lot. 4-gun turrets, double, 2-gun turret, single: PROS: Similar to above. CONS: Similar to above. Calibers: 11-inch: No real advantages, small and ineffective. 14-inch: While somewhat small, effective in large numbers. 15-inch: Reliable but slightly underpowered. FRNS's Caliber of choice (probably). 16-inch: Large and powerful. UNAFR and UFOS's Caliber of choice (probably). 18-inch: Gargantuan, powerful. HMKX's Caliber of choice (maybe, might alternate between 16-inch and 18-inch.) ACTION PART: HMKX has sent Asian conscripts to Volgograd to reinforce it. HMKX is deploying Eastern and Asian conscripts to reinforce the Russian people's faith in them. In addition, HMKX's Army is nearing completion, ahead of schedule. All HMKX needs is food and HMKX has massively increased imports. A document has been leaked by UNAFR spies on OPERATION UPPERCUT: It is redacted heavily, but some details are seen. It seems to be the counterpart to OPERATION UNDERCUT. While OPERATION UNDERCUT was not mentioned in any documents before, the documents suggest that it was only just conceived. It is a bit odd that OPERATION UNDERCUT, the counterpart to UPPERCUT was only created now, but some of the details that are leaked include: Invasion of Estonia via [REDACTED] men, moving into Latvia, and punching into Poland. Massive concentrated attack of Poland via [REDACTED] to create a 1-month victory situation. Turkish invasion of [REDACTED] to cause a distraction. Libyan naval raids on [REDACTED]. Moroccan raids on [REDACTED]. Belarussian invasion of Poland, linking up with HMKX troops and [REDACTED]. HMKX troops linking up in Poland with the forces from OPERATION UNDERCUT, which has invaded [REDACTED]. Involvement of [REDACTED], [REDACTED] and Finland in OPERATION UPPERCUT. Mass [REDACTED] break of IRA and [REDACTED] to cause chaos. [REDACTED], GROUP-001, [REDACTED], will not be serving in an active front-line capacity. Full-scale [REDACTED] invasion of [REDACTED] to crush morale and to neutralize the [REDACTED], as well as [REDACTED]. Preliminary spying seems to suggest HMKX will go ahead with the original plan, because the document was heavily redacted anyway.
Turkey has begun an invasion of Greece. Having encroached on Greek territory, the European Commonwealth has declared war on Turkey and allocated two million troops to do so. This has been the plan all along - bleed the HMKX in Russia while waiting for mobilisation to be completed. Then, engage in the real war in the Mediterranean. As such, a well-planned fallback line on the Russian offensive has been created. Occupied Ukraine and the pre-war borders are fully fortified at a level comparable to the Maginot Line and EC and FRNS troops are retreating there. A constant barrage of the HMKX ships based in the Sea has been ordered, and a renewed bombing campaign on the Suez has been ordered. Meanwhile, the Turkish offensive starts. The plan is to retake occupied Thrace, and push into Anatolia. Whatever jumped up HMKX Middle Eastern allies want to get involved will be duly invaded. In private, officials hope for at least Saudi Arabia - lots of oil to take control of, as well as a certain family to take down.
OPERATION UPPERCUT is here, ahead of schedule. 12 million men. They are being transported to Russia. The army is so large that it will take at least a month to transport them all. Thousands of Tanks and Planes, a force so large that HMKX had to take a year. They are extremely well supplied, having carried all of it with them. FRNS losses on the Suez are mounting. The Heavy AA defenses have been greatly effective at defeating FRNS Air Attack. The Suez Canal is safe. FRNS is wasting their time and pilots. HMKX ships have flowed into the Mediterranean Sea at a fast rate, slowly overwhelming the EC navy. The Bombardment Batteries are under fire, slowly but inevitably being destroyed, one by one. HMKX has decided to stay out of shores. Artillery batteries can only go so far, and HMKX Air Power is extensive. Meanwhile, HMKX has dedicated the last of its Russian reserves to defend Turkey, while Chinese and Indian reserves arrive, quite well trained and fresh instead of the War-Weary Russians. The Russians may be fanatical, but the Indians and Chinese are both well-rested, well-disciplined, and well-supplied. The Chinese and Indian reserves both exceed EC reserves, individually. HMKX just has to learn how to deploy it over the ENTIRE RUSSIAN CONTINENT. And they already know nine-tenths of it. Saudi Arabia has Nuclear Weapons, and HMKX has authorized their use if FRNS decides to invade the Middle East. Turkey is not part of the Middle East. HMKX is dedicating much of their reserves to the defense of the Bosporus. HMKX is nowhere near bleeding out. EC cannot possibly match up to a 12-million force. They'd bankrupt themselves if they tried. HMKX is the only one that can do it without extensive problems and even then the issues are heavy.
The largest Naval battle in Human History has begun. HMKX, seeking to break the EC Navy found this opportunity at Suez. EC had overextended its own Air Power and fought the HMKX Air Force, Egyptian Air Force and Egyptian Air Defenses at once. This came back to bite it. EC could not offer Air Support when their own navy needed it most. HMKXS Unity, deployed fresh with Heavy Escort, as well as dozens of Destroyers and Cruisers that were factory fresh attacked EC. The European Commonwealth was heavily outnumbered; HMKX's Naval Forces, while unprepared was very large from several years of expansion into an 880-ship navy and continually expanding and HMKX used it to its full advantage by attacking with disregard for loss of life or ships. HMKX was standardized, but EC's diversity proved its downfall. HMKX could coordinate with ease; EC could not. During the ensuing battle, HMKXS Unity, Yi Sun-Shin, Admiral Kuznetsov and Chandragupta ganged up on one of FRNS's Supercarriers. The tide of the battle had been severely biased towards HMKX at the outset; EC forces was outnumbered 2 to 1, and while HMKX ships were mostly fresh and untrained, sheer numbers was winning out. EC's skill was simply unable to match HMKX's quantity and raw, blunt power. FRNS Horatio Nelson was ganged up on. She fought valiantly, but valiance is not enough when all 4 of your opponents outclass you. Due to FRNS inexperience in building Supercarriers, she went down relatively quickly at 6 hours into the constant bombardment of the vessel. The fleet broke and fled; HMKX won the day, however bloody and hard it was. While HMKX lost far more ships, they broke the EC's most powerful Ships, Captains and Crew. Half of the EC's most experienced Naval Officers and Crew were wiped out in one battle, as well as a good chunk of their Navy. While on the tactical level it was an EC Victory (after all, HMKX lost far more ships), and on the Operational level it was a draw, Strategically it was a catastrophic EC defeat. EC lost its core, its best. HMKX had no core, no best or cream of the crop and it showed. HMKX used blunt force, and it worked, even if HMKX lost 2 and a half times more ships. HMKX can replace these ships faster than EC ever can. HMKX's GDP is much larger and it is more focused on Industry. There are people that can replace the dead men, steel and oil to rebuild ships. But how can one replace experience? Ships can be replaced. Experience cannot.
