With the advent of the internet, the Middle East is able to broadcast and share information widely. This has led to revolutions.Syria is in chaos; the President, with Iranian, Qatarian and several other nations (they are looking for a backer in the UWE) is fighting against the Free Syrian Army (tinged with extremism, has a relatively large portion of terrorists) which is in turn fighting against Boko Haram's remnants turned into something else; the Islamic State of Syria. They use the old connections of Boko Haram and Omni Laham along with clever use of mass media to generate funds. In addition, HMKX's cheap and effective weaponry has been of great use to them (unintended). The Kurds have seized this opportunity to form their own state. They have seized many Syrian Army equipment and created a functioning Air Force, Army, Tank Corps and Artillery Corps. They are the second best organized and powerful faction in this conflict in conventional means, and they have a functioning economy. The Islamic State of Syria has spawned many offshoots, wannabees or otherwise splinter factions.Let's see who's backing who.ISS: Backed by no one, but is far more unconventionally powerful than any other faction (can summon funds from the underground; basically ISIS).Government: Backed by Iran, Qatar, seeks UWE backing. Most powerful factionconventionally; relatively ethical, despite tyranny provides stability and relatively good living conditions for subjects.Free Syrian Army: Backed Saudi Arabia, Iraq and UAE. Some Terrorists, morally ambiguous but against tyranny. Not very powerful, but is quite well backed.State of Kurdistan: Backed by HMKX Empire and UAE. Quite powerful, second best living conditions. HMKX and Saudi Arabia backs them; Turkey has after a lengthy debate been persuaded to let them back the Kurds. Dependent on HMKX products and UFOS food.Al Qaeda seems to be the most powerful of the splinter factions that exist in this unstable environment. There is a man named Osama Bin Laden leading them. HMKX has no idea where he is, and HMKX is trying to keep him alive for the time being so that he can fight the Syrian Government. HMKX, being a good and responsible leader to its Middle Eastern allies has deployed HMKXS Guan Yu and associated task force to "defend their Arabic allies from harm". It's really an excuse to bomb the Syrian Government. HMKX is deploying its newest Air Force jets to fight their enemies, and the Su-25 is performing quite well. It is an even more frightening sight than the A-10. Syrian soldiers used to fear the sound of a brrrrrrrrrtttttttttttttt. Not anymore. The sound of a Su-25 is even worse news. HMKX is selling its leftover AK-74s, TO-3s, E-3s and old E-4s, as well as its distinctive Katyushas. All this means the Kurds are very well armed and is able to defend itself relatively well. Meanwhile, the HMKX Empire has had success investing and giving aid to the -Stan countries. Some of them are actually improving!

It is believed that hijackers claiming to be from the Al-Qaeda terrorist group hijacked the two planes and struck both towers. More than 6,000 people are estimated to have suffered injuries. The President issued out a statement: Tonight, on September 11th, 2001, an act of deliberate and evil terrorism has specifically doomed our great nation. What was seen live on TV were images of two planes, striking the two World Trade Centre towers, and images of people on the ground weeping, as dust filled the air. In that attack, there were people in that plane whose lives were taken, as well as all the secretaries, businessmen, office workers, military agents and federal workers who sat in their offices, awaiting the moment to go home to see their families. They were fathers, and mothers, brothers and sisters, friends and neighbours, in a deliberate attack with the purpose to take away the Freedom and lives of us Americans and Canadians. America was the target of attack because we're the brightest beacon for freedom and opportunity in the world. These incredibly evil amounts of terrorism must never be set upon OUR nation's soil ever again. The FBI is working hard on the case to find Osama Bin Laden. The thing is though, he is already on UNAFR records, as in 1998 he was put on the "International Terrorist Watch List" due to his bombings at the UNAFR embassies in Kenya and Tanzania. The problem is though, no one can find him. It goes back to the old saying, finding a needle in a haystack, and it is entirely true, except that haystack is 20 feet tall and the needle is 1cm long. It would take years to find him, or pure luck. Due to the current war and squabbling and Terrorism in The Middle East, it's no wonder no one has found him yet, he's one of the masters of hide and seek. Yet secret agents are currently searching in every town, city and village they can find, looking for video records, voice messages, and even spending hours in post offices looking to see if any name is linked to his. This will be a tough road... OOC: I don't want him to be found out incredibly fast, I know you want to find him, but please don't find him literally 2 posts after this. Just wait a couple of pages, then I'll give the mark. The UNAFR personally thanks the UFOS for their incredibly fast reaction and their deployment of agents. NPAT is currently on high alert, especially Pakistan as they believe to have some dirt on him. As of now, the UNAFR has declared an all-out war on Al-Qaeda, although they hope the HMKX military has had no interaction with them because if they had, then all that friendliness generated over the past few years with the UNAFR would be literally worthless.
HMKX admits that they may have kept him alive for a few weeks, and that the purpose of this was to make him fight the Syrian Government. HMKX didn't have a clue as to what he really wanted. HMKX has provided information they gathered in the process of helping them and informed their allies to detain him if found. HMKX itself has deployed agents to find and detain him. Meanwhile, the Empire plots. They want Osama's head in a basket; they want a Kurdish state; they want UNAFR to never interfere in Syria militarily, because they have a pretty good thing going. How terrifying is it when a bomb destroys that very house and a Rocket's coming for you next? How terrifying is it when the previous plane that terrorized you could be discouraged to turn back with a few good MANPADS hits, but you can't even hit this new one. How terrifying is it when for every plane with the big gun, there are 2 of these new planes? Otus, out of character, the Su-25 is a much more powerful vehicle than the A-10. I say this because being built around the gun wasn't a entirely good idea for the performance of the plane as a whole.
No no no. FRNS can send money, but no weapons. They have no clue how to use those things. The Middle East is reliant on HMKX weapons; Western designs would confuse them. In addition, FRNS/UNAFR designs are more likely to fail in the Desert Sand. HMKX designs are not. FRNS can send them, if they want the Kurds to die in heaps. Also, no boots. HMKX does not want the State of Kurdistan under FRNS influence.
The UNAFR is disappointed with The Empire. News about them keeping Osama Bin Laden alive arrived in the Parliament building today, and everyone is furious. Osama Bin Laden has been known to show acts of terrorism even before 9/11, and this just adds to the speculation of the HMKX Empire helping terrorist organizations who kill innocent people, mainly referring to the old cheap weapon selling scandal which really raises questions. To make matters worse, the UNAFR people question the HMKX and their ignorance of the attacks. Sure, once bad stuff happens you don't really deserve everyone's attention, but instead of sending out condolences to the victims, they consisted on going back to old problems and telling the UNAFR how better they were at making planes. This is more of a personal issue to the people who were directly affected, whether it be family or friends who were affected. The government hasn't said much to The Empire, but it's clear no one has any taste to think about The Empire anymore, in fact, they are absolutely tired of them and they would rather be left alone to grieve. The war against Al Qaeda is currently a secret agent one, although it is time before the UNAFR heads back to that cursed middle east, with the new M4-A2 Carbine which is expected to be able to withstand the roughness and the sand of the desert, much better than any previous UNAFR weapons. It wouldn't surprise the UNAFR if the HMKX government gets worried and decides to express their military might in the middle east to the UNAFR, they seem as if they are obligated to tell everyone how great they are...

Unforgivable. Saudi Arabia, under HMKX pressure has released information as to the whereabouts of Bin Laden. It's a start for a paper trail. Iraq has invaded Syria under the claim "The restoration of order in Syria is inevitable and needed" They just want to weaken the Government and establish a puppet state. Saudi Arabia has attacked Syrian Government forces with Airstrikes. The United Arab Emirates has pledged to find Bin Laden. HMKX, the master at the center of the web waits for UNAFR's next move. They are trying to find him, but they are unsuccessful. HMKX is using its vast informational networks and informants, but it is for now useless. Meanwhile, ISS is gaining power. The only reason they haven't pulled a 9/11 on HMKX was because they were a friend of Arabs. But now they're hunting Bin Laden...
ISS has bombed a HMKX city. The death toll was relatively small, at 1,121. Car bomb, a fire resulted. But it's enough to tick HMKX off against ISS. HMKX knows how to invade a country and restabilizing; it's costly, it's hard and it's bloody. But they're willing to pay it. HMKX is going in on behalf of their Kurdish Allies. ISS will be crushed.
Pakistan has given insane amounts of information to the CIA and UNAFR military on Osama Bin Laden and his whereabouts. Information dates back to the 70s and 80s on his building of Al Qadea and the training of Jihadist fighters, fighting for the cause of spreading Islam and bringing an end to the Western World. Records show the insane amounts of training compounds used by Jihad in Afghanistan. These were the same compounds that the UNAFR was fighting a few years ago, except now they are spreading again quicker and quicker. Terrorists are truly rats, they aren't like standing armies, where warfare is easily fought. They fight Guerilla style, disguised in villages and hiding weapons there. OOC: I don't care how big your army is, fighting terrorism doesn't take 2 posts, unless you want to anger the entire world by bombing every single village that you may think has terrorists, and yes I know you would do this. The MQ-1 Predator drone is the most perfect weapon for this job, more perfect than any amount of artillery or guns that the HMKX could muster. Being able to almost invisibly flyover Jihad hotspots without being noticed or causing mass panic and then scanning tons of useful data is much better than marching in any army. It isn't WW2 any more, everyone WILL know that an army is coming, and they WILL run and hide. The UNAFR has decided to invade and occupy Afghanistan. The Nimitz, George Washington, Dwight D. Eisenhower and the brand new Harry S. Truman, all of the Nimitz Class Supercarriers, carrying the F-15E Strike Eagle, B1-B Lancer, B-2A, F-18 Super Hornet, and others. No fighter aircraft is needed, multirole and bombers will suffice. Multiple destroyers, cruisers and submarines have also been sent. The Tomahawk missile will be primarily used in the beginning stages, volleying missile after missile at Jihadist training camps. 400,000 men are expected to be deployed into Afghanistan and Pakistan within the next couple of months. Pakistan is working on exterminating the terrorists in Pakistan, while the rest of NPAT is sending in troops, supplies and vehicles.
Commence Operation Enduring Freedom Following the 9/11 attacks, Afghanistan was pelted with what seems to have been weapons of impending doom. The UNAFR along with a joint force of Pakistani bombers and attack aircraft commenced brutal airstrikes on Al Qaeda training camps and compounds. The strikes lasted for what seems to have been weeks, yet it was only for an entire day. The President later confirmed the airstrikes and announced the declaration of war against terrorism in Afghanistan and the overthrowing of the Jihadist controlled government. After the airstrikes which caused mass confusion and angst, the skies were controlled by triple the aircraft (which at the time were UNAFR aircraft resided in Pakistan and Malaysia), as four of the glorious Nimitz classed aircraft carriers nestled on Pakistan's shores. It could be best described as Leviathan and his second coming, as Guided Missile Cruisers, Destroyers, Transport ships and most importantly the Big 4 Supercarriers towered in the distance. Even Pakistan trembled in fear, even though they were on the side of the ones who landed on their shores. What would then commence is the carpet bombings and sea to land missiles crushing entire Jihadist compounds, decimating their entire inhabitants. The B-2A and the Lancer show air dominance by acting like God's wrath, dropping tons upon tons of bombs. After the weakening of the Taliban, UNAFR troops flew in and drove from Pakistan, almost like a disease of locusts cutting the sun from touching the ground. Before landing, the A-10, AC-130 and B-2A quickly diced up any opposition. The AC gunship ripped up the opposition, and the Warthog blared the sound of its mighty gun, the A-10 could kill Jihadists even out of the stress of the fear from the eardrum crushing BRRRT. NPAT then came in next, with armies multiplied into the thousands. Nigeria offered brutal fighters from their regime, fighters who would love to see another Islamic force buried into the ground. The UNAFR gained control over Kabul, overthrowing the Jihadist government and establishing a temporary UNAFR one. After Kabul fell to massive amounts of airstrikes, it seems as if Afghanistan's provinces fell with it. Al Qaeda strongholds fell all throughout the country, which allowed the parachuting of multiple military divisions who ensued hell upon Jihad fighters. This is the first time the M4-A2 is being used, and it proves well, not as reliable as the AK variants, but still much more accurate and better at shooting. Still, it's very reliable, taking in more sand and grub than what a regular M4 could take. Jihad strongholds all around the country are falling, as Jihad cannot take it anymore. It is expected that a massive force of 10,000 inhabits Northern Afghanistan and the Iran border though, but they are already being blown to bits by the superior UNAFR air force. Although they are falling, the war will never be over until Osama bin Laden has a UNAFR grade bullet in his head. His location is unknown, although he is definitely somewhere in Afghanistan, hiding out with the rest of the Taliban. Osama sends radio and television messages all throughout the Middle East, rebuking the bombings of Afghanistan, claiming that Al Qaeda had nothing to do with 9/11, and accuses the UNAFR of slaughtering innocent lives in the airstrikes. The UNAFR has their own psychological warfare though, as they drop radios from the air into Afghanistan villages and towns, blaring the message of Al Qaeda's injustices, and joking about Osama Bin Laden's... small family jewels. Very funny UNAFR military commanders, what's next? The UNAFR has also air supplied food, water, medical supplies and other necessities to the "starving and broken people of Afghanistan."
HMKX is here to prove you wrong! HMKX has learned lessons in: China (difficult victory), Myanmar (defeat), Guinea (success), Iraq (initiated coup, massive success), South Africa (Success), and Myanmar (this time, success). HMKX knows the ins and outs of Government creation, as they have rebuilt them from all levels from nothing to almost everything. How many lessons has UNAFR learned? Not that many. A few in Africa; but Africa is not the Middle East. UNAFR is disliked, perceived as an Israeli Puppet. HMKX is at least not disliked, perceived as a friend of Arabs. And most of all, they've, most importantly of all, never failed, and never learned. HMKX has rolled in with an Army. HMKX, setting up shop in a Kurdish base has rolled in with the thing they love; overwhelming force. The Terrorists have hidden, but HMKX has deployed a very special tactic: Use the Army as Policing. HMKX is able to do this because they can amass a large number of soldiers, cheaply. HMKX has 5.5 million troops. It's all too easy to deploy some as police. HMKX effectively has created relative stability, peace and a organized structure in one go. But Soldiers are not Police. They are deploying aid and helping to rebuild, but they are too rough. That's why HMKX focuses on fast invasion. And overwhelming force is good for fast invasion. HMKX is focusing on invading fast as possible. ISS is falling apart, but they are morphing into a shadow organization that bites at the war zones, which is convenient because HMKX-controlled areas are not war zones. Sure, there's the occasional terrorist attack. But there is Police to solve them, HMKX aid to help rebuild. HMKX supplies them Houses, Food, Jobs. It is a Herculean effort to even create primitive economies. HMKX knows how much tougher it is to rebuild the whole thing from scratch. HMKX did this once in Guinea; it was hellish, and Syria has no easy source of money. But HMKX is bigger and stronger now. HMKX's goal is this: Make the people love you, and Guerillas will fall like flies. They got this lesson hammered into them in China. Again in Myanmar. Again in Guinea, the first time the trick worked. But UNAFR has no idea how to do that. HMKX does. HMKX's capacity to have a large, organized army allows for it to reach further and stronger. HMKX has 51,000 troops deployed in Syria and mounting. A good portion is Military Police. Like I said, it's hard and costly. UNAFR will have to learn. They'll mess up, it's natural. HMKX already did the whole thing. Messed up in Myanmar and China. Applied the lessons in Guinea.
