  9. How to clear the DNS cache on Windows

    What is happening: they have changed the DNS (hostname) of the server to point to another server (IP address).
    Problem: DNS names are usually cached (stored) so the computer doesn't have to look it up all the time. So it is possible that your computer is using the old name IP address, because it had it stored away.
    Solution: Open a DOS box, then use this command: ipconfig /flushdns

    What does that do?

    This removes any stored DNS names from your computer (it's non destructive) and forces your computer to look up the names again. Then chances are much better that it'll find the new IP address.
