  1. Great then we are agreed. Hopes are great, I think even minor tweaks add up and we will see when they are ready.

    Cheers

  2. I dont know if this is related, but sometimes i accidentally hit the jump out of boat button on my long trips when i am on long trips to my country home and then I am not allowed to re-enter the boat for some time. I can stand on it but my food bar depleats quickly. I cant destroy the boat to remake it, I cant push it, I just have to wait like 5 or 10 minutes to use it again.
  3. still waiting

On Aikar Time? Every update is on time.

  9. why you in a hurry?

  10. The star wars competitions results had to come from Tatooine which takes a month, 1.9 comes from Mojangia which takes a few decades

  11. I dont mind any delay on the update (I learned waiting at the 1.8 update :p), but if you list an anticipation on the OP of 2 weeks or less and it takes more than double the time, you can expect someone to say that it takes long...

I thought 1.8 learned that updating would guarantee problems.

EDIT: wow I read this again and its a bit harsh... thats not how I mean it :3

  12. 1.8 had major core changes. 1.9 looked to be super simple. Then we found out that it had major issues. Mojang doesn't prioritize large servers when developing things. We ended up having to wait for 1.9.1 and Aikar is almost ready to go into testing mode on that build. We're getting it out as soon as possible, I promise.

  14. Updates go like this:

    1. Mojang releases 1.9
    2. Spigot Releases update on top of 1.9
    3. Paper releases update on top of Spigot 1.9
    4. Empire releases EmpireCraft on top of Paper 1.9
however, 1.9 was bad, and we saw 1.9.1 was coming with big changes, so we had to wait before we even started updating EmpireCraft.
1.9.2 was just released last week, and I'm about 95% done with EmpireCraft.
Once EmpireCraft is built, we then get to load the plugin into it and start making needed changes for the major update.
Then once the plugin has been updated to even be loadable, then we go into bug finding/fixing mode.
When we made this post, it was on the expectation we were going to be basing on 1.9. But we decided not to and to skip to 1.9.2 to avoid doing work twice.
Now, I did as much work as I could before 1.9.2 by moving around 50 or so changes of ours directly into Paper, so I was sort of working on EmpireCraft before 1.9.2 was released, but in reality, the bulk of the work didn't even start until Friday~.
It will come when it can.
DynMap is current concern as its current state will hold up the release until they fix a critical bug.

  15. Thank you for being honest with us.

It helps a lot to know what's really holding the servers back to updating.

What's this "critical bug" with Dynmap (EMC's Live Map program)?
Is there any way we or you can help fix it?

In recent years, video game developers have become more increasingly involved in the communities they create.

However, particularly Mojang, very rarely replies to people's comments. Their silence, while safe from harm, makes some people like me concerned, worried, obsessed, or even angry with what's going on, when it seems that not much is happening and the belief they aren't being acknowledged by developers.
This has happened many times for Minecraft's updates.

Besides avoiding too many spoilers, do you, or anybody else reading this, know why many game developers do these actions of stealth, defense, etc.?

  16. Hey, everybody, just to let you know, I've been in IT Support of one kind or another for a long time. (Longer than some of you have been alive) and this isn't any kind of dig against any developers anywhere, including here, but updates/releases are NEVER on time. The only one that I ever heard of being on time was the game Five Nights at Freddies 2 and that was early(and a special case). And that is not only games, but every piece of software ever released from every single big name company out there. I've supported most IT products out there and they all come in AFTER the initial release date, ALL of them. So, the best thing to do when a Dev puts out a release date, just nod, pat them on the head and go about your business and let them get their work done. Hard Working Devs are awesome, but the one thing the entire industry is horrible at is estimating release dates. Most of the time, it's not their fault because when you are writing code, especially for something that's never been done before, you really can't estimate how long it is going to take accurately because unforeseen bugs come up and you can't estimate how long it is going to take to fix something you didn't foresee in the first place. I've got friends in IT Development and I kid them about it, but the thing to do is not to worry and just continue on your way until it is actually released. And know that the more you bug them about it, the longer it takes....

...so, just relax and play Minecraft. It comes out when it comes out.... ;)
  17. The same people complaining that EMC has not been upgraded to 1.9 are the same that would complain if it was bugged out. People are never happy. The way I see it if you don't like waiting, then go play single player. Most people come here because all the hard stuff is done for them. I for one am glad that they do all the hard work for me. I work all day and don't want to come home and work. I like to log in and play on a server that is great and I don't have to worry if its going to crash or something isn't working properly. So like Greylond says:

...so, just relax and play Minecraft. It comes out when it comes out.... ;)
  18. Yeah....I agree with Greylond and jesseqw..........1.8 should tie ya over in due time. ;)
