I think a good compromise for all this would be for frags/stones to be turned into the often forgotten 'Token' currency. They would then be used for Empires/Land Claiming when that comes out. That way one dead update would then fuel the new updates and give us a use for our frags/stones.
oh boy. i understand what youre trying to say, but im also going to tell you that your OWN idea goes against that. you want people to sell dragon stones and fragments. now then, who has the large amount of those stored? OH thats right! the rich hoarders, not the "middle class". if people are struggling to make money on this server what is a small shop that gives them a few thousand extra coins going to do? also, the "casual players who dont participate in the economy" arent going to be bothered by this, because they dont participate in the economy. secondly, bite there is no semantics here. there are things that are and are not a rupee sink, this is not a rupee sink in any way, shape or form. a money sink makes a finite amount of money smaller by permanently removing those coins from the economy. the money from those fragments wouldnt come from krysyys account, they would come from the empire shop. now then, the empire shop has an infinite amount of coins, and it would be moving coins from that infinite amount, to the finite amount of rupees in the emc economy. zero semantics, you were wrong, no matter from whos perspective you look at it from, there is no rupee sink here.
allow me to rephrase here, i wasnt talking to YOU go gatekeep somewhere else the adults are speaking. everything after this is irrelevant
We're trying to have a discussion here, there's no need for that kind of attitude. Let's try and keep this professional and respectful.
you really want to start this? this is a PUBLIC forum kiddo. you were wrong, i told you were wrong, you didnt like that. it doesnt matter who you were talking to, doesnt change the fact that you were wrong. please show me the gatekeeping. im begging you. you cannot call me a child when you dont have the first clue what you are talking about. everything after that proves why you are wrong.
this isnt the discussion forum, and nowhere did i go hey everyone what do you think about this, i addressed a singular person and that is all so while he and anyone is welcome to their opinion. dont @ me to argue semantics about something that was clearly understood from the onset of his post
If you would look at the top of the page you would see, "Discussion in 'Community Discussion'" so this is indeed a discussion.
Before this gets locked because it appears an enraged child has entered the thread above me, I want to say my piece on Dragon Tombs as an EMC veteran. I don’t care about it. There’s no point to it. I’m so glad it’s been binned. 1.15 is more than good enough for now and Empires is actually something I’ve wanted for far longer than I ever wanted Dragon Tombs - if that’s on its way, I really have no complaints. I also don’t expect the staff to speed up the development of anything during the lockdown/quarantine because ‘quarantine = more free time” just... isn’t how this works. People employed in the public sector (teachers, healthcare depending on if you’re American or not, postal workers, etc.) have to do their jobs still because they’re vital to your day to day life functioning; and people in the private sector (construction, retail, etc.) are still doing their jobs too, whether that’s at home or not. In fact, you’ve still got a job to do unless you work in the hospitality industry - in which case I offer you my sincere condolences. Fantastic reminder that EMC’s demographics are skewed towards teenagers who have several years left in school, this.
This post wasn't necessary. It has just inflamed tensions which did not need to exist. If you want to discuss, discuss. Otherwise just withdraw from the thread. No need for any squabbling by anyone to resume after this post.
=P Genuine question, did you always feel this way towards dragon tombs, or were you initially excited for it when it was announced? Personally I think the concept is cool, although 1.9 and being able to refight the dragon really did take away most of the charm that it had.
As someone that was around, I was originally hyped and started hoarding the frags/stones. But after a year and the vote to basically abandon it, I agreed with the others that Empire/land claiming was more important. 1.9 brought the main feature already to EMC an there was no longer a massive need for it.
I joined in Feb 2013, so a few months after it was annouced, so I cannot say anything really about feelings from when it was announced, but hype for it was still in full swing by the time I joined. I joined a group that was dedicated to collecting the stones because we all thought DT would come out soon. I'm disappointed that it never came to fruition, but I still have hope for it.. eventually happening. I personally think the concept is really cool, although you can refight the dragon I feel EMC could do much better, considering all the other different boss fights and custom mobs that exist already. Also, if I do recall, I think I voted DT first in that vote, although my memory may be failing me here.
I was 12 when DT was announced, and I’m almost 20 now, so I barely remember my feelings about it, but... I think I was excited for it when it was announced because I loved the idea of fighting the Ender Dragon and getting a whole team of friends together to do it. It was a really cool concept. But once you get into the practicalities of it, that’s all it is: a cool concept that Mojang built into the game anyway and I’ve seen no use for it since. And also... it got announced, nothing was said about it for months and then by the time we got to 1 year on, I wasn’t even thinking about it anymore. In fact I ended up disliking the pieces of it that we ended up getting (enraged mobs and fragments blahblahblah), so much so that I turn them off by having my EMC difficulty on easy lol My dream of fighting it with a team of friends can be easily done in a much more fun way IMO by simply fighting a wither, and you actually get something out of doing that at the end instead of just an egg. Plus I’ve killed dozens of ender dragons in single player at this point and it’s always relatively easy (so why even want a team?), whereas the wither has always messed me up with its explosions and flying wherever the hell it wants to and that’s always been something I’ve preferred to fight with a team.
You can go back to the thread where Aikar asked the community what they wanted first and it should show you what you voted for at the top still. I posted the link in one of my posts on the, I believe, first page of this thread. I msyelf voted for Empires, Land Claiming and then Dragon Tombs. Since I wanted to be able to make my outpost an official thing. Instead of just a forum post claiming it and the land it was on. And land claiming for obvious reasons. Who doesn't want to actually claim their own chunk of land in the Frontier and actually keep it from being easily griefed?
Why bother flaming the staff about everything they've done wrong? It's demoralizing and doesn't accomplish anything. EMC has a comparatively small management team relative to a lot of other servers so it's helpful to be patient with them about stuff like this. I'm not saying they've done everything right but there's much better ways to handle the situation than by aggressively complaining about it in a forum post. Bringing up issues offhandedly in a forum post like this doesn't allow room for discussion and these things would be better off handled directly
Just like SoulPunisher above me, I'd like to toss my sub-veteran hat into the ring before this get locked. Dragon tombs was a cool idea we waited for, and it didnt come, sucks, but thats that. We get 1.15. We (soon) get empires. I personally hoped for dragon tombs and thought it sounded really cool, but I wont make a fuss about the fact that it isnt coming. The problem is that we have a ton of shiny rocks that do nothing. Why is this? I'm not dev, and I understand adding ALL of dragon tombs is hard and not what they are focused on ATM, but is it hard to make right clicking a dragon stone give me resistance and strength for a few minutes? Idk, just tossing ideas. These rocks are old, unfinished, useless relics that collect dust in everyone's "special emc shiny item ohh ahh" chest, and their existence is just pointless. Imagine a newbie comes in, kills some special mobs, having a good time, then goes in chat and this convo takes place: "I got a dragon stone fragment! What does it do?" "You can craft it with 8 more for a full dragon stone!" "Sick! What does a dragon stone do?" "Nothing, and it never will do anything. Sorry to hear the momentus that wrecked your starter gear dropped nothing but shiny rocks and flesh." I'm willing to wait, certainly, I know these things have no importance to the devs as the have something else to work on, but a shiny right click item for some buffs shouldn't be more than a feather on the camels backs, and hopefully not the feather that breaks the camels back! Some more ideas to consider: -Make shiny arrows with a frag as the flint, buff shiny arrows to pierce with normal bows, not just marly -Make a 8 full dragon stones in a crafting table surrounding a furnace make a special furnace that doesnt need fuel? -As I said above, right clicking for buffs. Pretty straightforward. -Right click them for XP? Something of a better enchanted bottle? -Make armor with them, similar to the chain(steel) armor, but its EPIC DRAGON ARMOR! lol Anyway, theres my $0.02
If a form is obsolete, can we take it down? Causes less confusion. It seems if these announcments were more prevelant, these questions wouldn't keep coming up in the forms of threads like this.
