That's why I take off my armor when I mine (or use XP farms), I want the experience to repair my pick as much as possible. (Which also is why I mine on difficulty 1, I'm busy trying to mine, not looking for trouble. lol)

What do you have to worry about when filling in holes after mining ores? --Experience-- What ores can you expect to find in a mine? Redstone, Diamond, Iron, Coal, Lapis Lazuli and Gold. How can you quickly neutralize a pool of lava? A bucket of water will netrualize the lava. What can you do to quickly mine through the top layer of obsidian? What should you do if you fall into a pool of lava? Either eat a golden apple, or drink a fire resistance potion, or both. What should you do in a situation where you are swarmed with mobs and almost dead? Block yourself in, and then eat some food to get back your health. What should be done before mining diamonds? Mine around the diamonds, looking for lava to burn the diamond, and then mine it. Should you ever mine the block above/below you? No, never mine above or below; you are just asking for lava or mobs to come hurt you. --Availability-- What is the nearest major city to you? My nearest major city is Bristol in the South West of England. When are you available for training? (Give a few possible times.) Possibly Saturday or Sunday, if I do have no plans in real life. How often do you expect to be mining each week? (For planning purposes, there's no required level of activity.) Regularly on the weekends, depending if I have any plans, and on weekdays I am on for about an hour or two a day. Do you any specific financial goal? Yes, I am hoping to get 100k out of this job, and hopefully even boost that 100k goal. Is there anything you hope to get out of using the mine specifically? Not really, just wanting to make as much profit as possible.
No problem, I can provide armour and a fortune pickaxe. All looks good, except did you answer the last question? Looks good. We also have some extreme hills biomes where there are emerald ores. The most obvious thing to do in lava is to get out. If you can't get out in time, then screenshot your coordinates and log out. Someone can dig you out and put water there to save you. Didn't seem to get an answer to the obsidian mining question. Excellent. It looks like you are 7 hours ahead. 100k should definitely be doable, even in a couple weeks if you stick with it and work hard. Hopefully we can get you surpassing that. Are you around tomorrow evening maybe 8-10 PM your time?
Just filling in on the questions I forgot to answer; What do you have to worry about when filling in holes after mining ores? You might lose out on other ores around it, because almost 100% of the time it comes in big chunks rather than 1 or 2. What can you do to quickly mine through the top layer of obsidian? Look for water & lava as there are 100% going to be some, and blocking out all lava and water, and then mine through it with the appropriate pickaxe.
Thanks for updating your replies here. For filling in holes, you need to make sure that the tunnel is level, and that there are no pits that other miners could fall into and not be able to jump out of easily. For mining obsidian, you want to use water to neutralize the lava as you mine. I can show you this further during the training.
