The Car Love Thread!

  1. Replied to your comment there but I'll post it here too for you :p It's a Vauxhall Firenza, but it's the Can Am edition so it was limited edition and came with a Chevy V8 in it from factory! It was also driven by Jimmy McRae, a famous rally driver here, the father of Colin McRae (of whom you've probably heard of) :D

  2. Thanks for the info!
No wonder I love the way it sounded!;)
Yes, Sir I have heard of Colin McRae, He's a Old Timey Ralley Racer!:D

  3. Hehe yeah, I thought you would have caught on to the V8 :p I think the yellow Lotus Espirit on there is a V8 too...

Colin McRae was a great rally racer, died almost 10 years ago now though I believe, but his dad still does a little driving here and there I think!

  12. 53k seems reasonable, for a rally car. You'll get cha one, one day Fendy. Just have a feeling.:D

edit- Around here people drive racecars on the street. Often lol

  13. I doubt I'll ever afford the rally car, but I hope to have one of the coupes! Still costs about half the price of the rally car variant, but I'd rather have a daily that I can use all the time than a rally car that I use five times a year!

If I win the lottery, I'll get all of them ;) One day :D

  14. I've started listing some possible first cars, I still have a lot more to add but I may as well post my initial thoughts:
    Fiat Panda 100HP Edition
    Subaru Justy/Suzuki Swift (old gen)
    Fiat Cinquecento
    Subaru Impreza 1.5
    Mitsubishi Colt 1.3

Lots of pros and cons to all... still got a lot of other ones to consider but I'll add to the list as I see fit :p

  15. Not sure how it works across the pond. Is there a limit on engine size or horse power, for first time drivers?
Does seem to matter over here. Insurance, here is more based on price/worth of vehicles. And of course driving records
My son cost me 2k a year, on a 2015 Subaru Crosstrek (he's had 2 accidents)

  16. There's no "limit", but if you have a sportier car, you're more likely to be offered black box insurance, and if you have a bigger engine, you are much more likely to have expensive insurance. But, after a certain engine size, there will be a point where insurance companies will not insure you any more. It depends on lots of things.

But, as a general sort of thing, getting anything much bigger than 1.5 is going to be hefty on insurance costs >_> For new time drivers :p

  17. Thought I'd add a little more about insurance :)

It also depends on how many years of no claims bonus you have, how long you have been driving (less time, more cash), previous accidents (more accidents, more cash), your location (to reference car theft crimes), your annual miles (more miles, more cash), and one other one on the top of my head is where the car will be parked (if it's outside on a road then it could be more expensive because it's not locked away in a garage).

It depends on lots of things and insurers will do everything they can to bump up your annual premium. First time buyers for insurers or those that have been in crashes (even at no fault of their own) will be paying the most for reasons that usually make no sense but that they can get away with it seems >_>

There's a lot to it and it's hard to explain it all, but the long or the short of it is that it restricts you massively, even if you have a decent budget, and the insurers want every penny that they can get out of you :p

  18. Saw this last weekend with AnonReturns while exploring in my town. Apart from the one that we hired out, this is the first Audi Ur Coupe quattro that I've seen around here! The other ones I've seen have always been at events or while on holiday, it's great to see one in the wild again

And on that note, another gif...
