let's talk about skyrim!

  1. i've got a question for everyone who can help! i have googled, and researched and i haven't found anything useful.
my boyfriend plays skyrim on the xbox360 and i think he's glitched his game with boethiah's calling quest..
i think what happened was that he stumbled across the shrine randomly while adventuring and was not level 30. (i also don't think he knew he couldn't do that without being level 30?) he sacrificed someone and the priestess showed up and whatever else, but the quest is still there.. and now, after level 30, he's sacrificed a few people and killed the cultists and nothing will advance the quest? i don't know exactly what happened but i think what i tried to explain is closest? not sure :\ hopefully its enough information for someone to understand! anyone know how to fix this?
  2. lol, so today....
i have found this treasure map many many many times on many characters. but i honestly thought it was for my horse farm mod that was installed in that very same area it is supposed to be for.. so i took it for that and never actually paid much attention, until today when i realized the map had a giant log circled.... and i was like what? why haven't i noticed this before! ... soooo
    i checked.

So, guess what I've been playing copious amounts of the last few days? I wish it was Fallout 4, but nope, it's Skyrim (what a surprise to see on a thread dedicated to Skyrim!). I take a lot of screenshots, too (I have over 100 screenshots from in the game, which is waaaaaaay more than any other game I've ever played).

This one was taken a while ago, on the 3rd of August. I took a screenshot before I left to go on holiday and I'd made it to Blackreach - which, for a place full of Falmer and Dwemer robots that scared me the first time I saw them in this same place 2 years ago, is quite pretty (even in my crappy graphics settings because for some reason nothing I can do to get the game playing on medium at a good framerate, like it used to, works).

My bearded, long-haired, yellow-eyed vampire lord melee (yeah, I know: the combination of vampire lord and melee specialised doesn't make sense, I'll probably go back to being a werewolf once I'm done with Dawnguard) character felt very fab at this point in time.

It's been a long time since I've read an Elder Scroll.

    This glor-ee-ussss

TIL Serana is much, much, much stronger than she looks and should be after thousands of years of being in a coma. She's lifting a fully-grown man (mer?) who is also wearing metal armour. 12/10 she's ok.

Killed a dragon while attempting to talk to that wizard guy outside of Markarth so I could be cured of my Vampire Lord-y-ness and get Isran (the gravelly-voiced, angry and annoying leader of the Dawnguard, if you didn't know) to talk to me.

Also found this and thought it looked hilarious, and pretty cool.
  4. guess who finally realised she was playing on Adept and finally worked out how to change it to novice...

actually killing dragons and completing missions and not having to save every two minutes! IT'S A WHOLE NEW GAME!

kwenricca is gonna crush those stormcloaks before the month is out! and hadvar so wants her... he was so happy to see her when she showed up...he was all "hello friend..." but he wants her to be so much more...

...this is what happens when i play roleplays...

in other news, still too scared to let lydia leave whiterun in case she gets killed...

  5. Dawnguard spoilers ahead. If you haven't played through the expansion pack and plan to, I reccomend you don't open the spoiler tag below.

I totally didn't decapitate this old lady (she and her husband looked important for some kind of quest... oh well, they're dead now) for the benefit of myself. No. No. She ran a drug ring and everything. She also gave me a soul for my gem thingy I needed to become a normal human again and provided me with a cool screenshot.

Farewell, Lord Harkon: the easiest boss I've ever fought against in a Bethesda game. You will not be missed.

What's next in Torrhen's, Serana's, and Torrhen's journey? Probably the construction of a nice house to store all of the stuff now over-encumbering me I want to keep as trophies, a nice, hot brew and a bit of a sit-down with the telly on.

Also, question time: where should I build my house? I was thinking of building Lakeview Manor or Windstad Manor. I want it to be in a nice location, and if there's any variation in sizes of the houses, I'd prefer a larger one because I mainly plan to dump stuff I found and don't want to sell in it.

Side note: Dawnguard started off good and then just became really tedious and extremely boring halfway through. The last few quests just felt like they were tacked on to extend game time, and I only completed it just to see how it ended. The best thing to come out of it was Vampire Lords and Serana (the best companion in the whole game IMO...).

Going off what Kephras said a year ago on the first few pages of this thread, I think I'm going to enjoy Dragonborn. I want to make a house, some dragonbone armour, and ditch the daedric stuff (most of his weight comes from his armour, and I don't like having not much room left to hoard everything in sight) before I do that, though.

  6. Just dispatching a few bandits who appear to be mostly innocent so I can buy a house...

I tried to make a witty comment about this, but I can't. I don't know why, either.

Dispatching the local satanic cult members...

Selfie with the family, the house and the ashes of a dead wolf.
  7. if they were innocent, they wouldn't be bandits! they'd be imperial army soldiers or whiterun guards!

i came on a riften guard killing an imperial soldier the other day... better know i sparked seven shades of the proverbial out of her... imperials fo' loife! yuhyuhyuh!
  8. There appeared to be no dead bodies in or around their encampment. The reason I was given to kill them was just 'the stuff they were bribing me not to kill them with doesn't seem useful any more'. I can't wait to become a Stormcloak and replace that snotty Jarl with his uncle - and I hope he becomes non-essential so I can decapitate him in delicious, kill screen-y slow-motion fashion.
  9. ...a stormcloak! pah!
though... admittedly i've never found anyone else who chose to follow hadvar and be an imperial instead of a stormcloak... if they didn't look so saxon i might have done but... rebels... urgh...

and no self respecting bandit would keep the bodies around! those things smell awful!
  10. I've been an Imperial before. I actually prefer them over Stormcloaks, but I think the Stormcloaks have a better questline and it usually makes more sense for my characters to fight for them :p
  11. omg someone else who played imperial! *hugs* i was seriously starting to think i was the only one... and seriously, if they didn't look so saxon, i might have considered it...and, you know, my issues with rebels, terrorists, and robin hood types in general! military background!

sidebar, so i popped back to whiterun to drop off weapons and gems and stuff back home (and say hey to lydia, she's not going anywhere, she might get hurt), and suddenly, hadvar is right behind me...

that's right...he's now stalking me... war with the stormcloaks is over, he is now following me...

    fun glitch!

  12. Wow, this thread is over a year old now!

I decided to revisit the game and carry on with my Dark Brotherhood missions. Some very interesting stuff happened... Though I won't reveal all, I shan't be releasing any spoilers for those that haven't done them yet!

I keep getting the message saying I've leveled up and have to visit the skills menu but I can't remember the button for the skills menu and it doesn't say it in the controls >_< Haven't played in a while... :p

  13. if you're on ps3, press the circle, and then go up!

and omg i am having so much fun on Novice difficulty! i don't have to save after ever draugr now!

having crushed the stormcloaks and reunified skyrim i am now working on the winterhold college stuff... just fetched the staff of magnus... super easy bossfight... obviously you're meant to struggle using magic... just stood in one place and shot him with my epic supple nord bow...like "oh noes, i has no magicka...pew pew pew..."

  15. Hmm, I'm still very tempted to pick up this game for the PC so that I can play without bugs. I really enjoyed playing on the PS3 but as you progress deeper into the game you'll also notice the lag become quite severe. Right up to a point where you almost need to wait a whole minute before a location is fully loaded

The best bow I had was one I crafted myself. I believe it was a dragonbone bow but could also have been made from ebony (Deadric bow). I've always favored to put cold and electric enchants on it. Cold slows enemies down and lightning drains their magicka :)

  16. Managed to get it. Press tab and go up and you go to the levels and skills, got that backlog all sorted now ;) Got myself some new Dwarven armour on Skyrim today as well and it's great! Finished up most of my Dark Brotherhood missions too now :)

  17. Jordis & Shirr have been bopping around in the Reach lately, murderizing Forsworn, bandits and such. Not sure where I'll send them from there... I like the northwest, but Frostfall makes that a very chilly endeavor and it's nice not having to worry so much about freezing to death.

  18. did the mission in the thalmor embassy...

    ...after i killed arcano...

so glad the thalmor don't have some sort of twitter...

also, are you meant to do that mission without getting detected? because omg i had to kill EVERYONE!

and kephras, i feel ya! you don't want your porr followers to get frostbite!
  19. You can sneak, but it's hard. I prefer to murder them anyway, because fluffin' THALMOR, and their gear makes for nice loot.
