My thoughts on the Empire

  1. I am nearly 1300 days old. I can confirm 1000 times that this was never the case 2-3+ years ago. I just wish we would all act as mature people again.
  2. If a staff member has the ability to say one thing which takes away our ability to say a joke that harms nobody in any way, then EMC is doomed
  3. Actually I never said that:

  4. Please do read the title and understand that these are my thoughts. And then read the side note at the end of the thread. Those two are enough to prove that I am not bashing emc
  5. I'm pretty sure staff are given training to detect hackers and that's why the decisions that were made, were made. I don't see why you think the staff would just wake up one morning and say "Hey lets ban [playername] for no reason!"

He/she wasn't taking out on the player, she was defending his claim that was tarnishing staff's reputation. The player directed towards staff member, the staff member then took offense being he/she is a staff member. That's like me saying all bears are evil and then claiming that since I didn't specify any names, that it's fine. The only difference is that instead of only making one bear mad, now they're all mad. The only thing I saw in it was the staff member was and still is very passionate about their job.

What Cory posted didn't state if he had received warnings, the exact quote he used, or if players were bothered. All I got out of it was that Cory was calling himself annoying in some way. I don't know if he was spamming, being rude to others willing doing so, etc.

  6. ...I'm sorry... that's just... a horrible analogy. You are comparing apples to oranges here.

To reiterate: classroom setting =! an online server community.

  7. Ehm, what? I'm sorry, but I found literally 100% of this statement invalid. I hate to flame, but this is the exact opposite of what I think. We are not bashing on EMC. We're supporting EMC, if anything. We are not saying that it is bad - we're suggesting points of improvement which even the best of all the EMC players and the top of the elite ranks can agree with. Everyone has a different point of view, and to some, these ones seem more viable than others. Yes, we are all humans. We all agree upon that. And what do humans make? Mistakes. We've all made a hell of a lot of mistakes and we regret them. But we don't just drop the hammer there and say "That's it. I'm done". We strive forward for a better place. Everyone has a different point of view of what is or what has been the best of the best. So, honestly, there is no final point at which we can stop suggesting better aspects of improvement for EMC. And that is what I think.

  8. I wasn't spamming;
    I hadn't been causing any issues before the message I sent;
    I wasn't being rude.

I literally just called myself annoying.

  9. I'd counter this, but I'd rather not say the name of the player that was falsely banned.

It wasn't hurting anyone in any way. It was stating something that some staff do. In fact, he never stated an amount, while you did.

Again. It was an obvious joke
  10. That was my quote Bear :)

  11. Tell the whole story?

He didn't mention that a staff member had previously given out a warning to stop for example.

So the way I see it the bottom line here is: don't challenge the staff when they're busy defusing a situation. Especially not after they issued a warning.

Mods are regular players too, they're not a mod 24/7. Something which has been mentioned time and time again.

    Denied what?

So let me get this straight: he wanted to talk to this staff member, who was afk, then waited for an hour. Eventually got to talk to the staff member?

So why not use the forums to PM another staff member? Because you make it sound as if we're all doomed at times when there isn't a staff member online (which also happens from time to time). Something I don't quite believe to be true.

Guess we have to agree to disagree on that.

What gave you the idea I might think that way? I don't. Staff are people like you and me, who will make mistakes from time to time and when they do I'm pretty sure they'll correct it. I also have had some run ins in which case I considered the staff to act poorly on the situation. However, I act on it if needed. Ranting about it on the forums won't do you much good: sending a PM to Krysyy on the other hand will have much better results.

Many small "harmless" things can easily turn into a bigger serious thing. That's what most people seem to be overlooking here IMO.

  12. What's even going on in this thread? It's a mess. Maybe I'm tired.
  13. Emc can, there is like literally 4 people that can't. One of which is staff.

Edit: you didn't really think I wasn't going to post in this thread. No question mark because it isn't a question. You know better ;-)

  14. I rarely ever comment on threads like this, but I'd like to point a few things out.

As much as we listen to players, we gather concrete proof before taking any sort of action, especially before doing a big decision like a permanent ban. I know you probably won't trust me, but all UHC bans have video proof from STAFF MEMBERS, not players.

That staff member was defending him/herself, trying to give an explanation to that player's concern regarding AFKing.

200 days ago, EMC was really similar to what it is today. I've been here for 1300+ days and I can tell you that saying the "Old times" were better is a fallacy. Could also be tied to a feeling of nostalgia. We only remember strong feelings from the past, that's human nature, so it's obvious you're only gonna remember the good aspects of the "past" (with some exceptions, obviously). Ever heard of the 1.3 EMC update? Players literally lost DCs of items, enchantments, etc and they weren't replaced at all.

This just shows that we actually CAN take criticism and that we listen to players, when they are being reasonable.

You're absolutely correct. It is a lot better.

Just something that has been on my mind for a while now and I'd like too add:
Although you might think it's the staff members that make the server good, we are here to improve it, not to mold it.

The community, in EMC's case, is the most important factor of the server. Keep that in mind.
  15. You should more, it's better than what we usually get XD
  16. Pab's Cliff Notes:
Someone back-talked a moderator and got muted for fifteen minutes, which I am sure expired a long time ago. Instead of being thankful they weren't kicked or banned and going back to playing they came here to make drama over it.

The other incident was basically a playground level uh-huh / nuh-uh type argument over whether moderators detected someone cheating.
  17. Why defend yourself when you specifically weren't mentioned? In fact, there was no specific person mentioned.

If somebody/something is being criticized, wouldn't it make sense to not tell them to leave, but to rather talk to them in a mannered way?

Never did I say that it was staff that makes the server good. Really this whole thread is about my view of EMC's flaws and that we should improve EMC
  18. I believe that you're thinking that I was the one that had argued with the moderator and that's where you're wrong.
