  1. "Fourteen years ago, the United States was changed forever, never forget the attacks of 9/11."

On September 11th, 2001, the terrorist group known as "al-Quaeda" hijacked four airplanes, 19 terrorist were involved in the hijacking of the planes. Two of the planes were bound for, and hit, the World Trade Center in New York. One of the planes also crashed into a section of the Pentagon, while the fourth crashed before it could reach it's target. The attacks resulted in the deaths of 2,996 Americans, approximately 2,600 of them being in the World Trade Center and the surrounding area. Nearly all of the casualties were civilians, with the exception of the following brave individuals who lost their lives trying to save others:

    - 72 Law Enforcement
    -343 Firefighters
    - 55 Military Personnel

The attacks of September 11, 2001, marked it the worst terrorist attack in world history and the deadliest foreign act of destruction to life and property on American soil since the Japanese surprise attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941.

Never forget those who lost their lives, civilians and the first responders, too the attacks of September 11th.

I know that I lost an Uncle to the attacks, he was one of the first responders to the attacks in New York, and I don't doubt that a few of you on the Empire may have lost someone in the attacks as well, or known someone who lost a family member or friend to the attacks. Feel free to share your feelings or comments on the terrorist attacks.

  19. Although I was only 2 when this happened, I live pretty close from what used to be the Twin Towers, the workers over here in New York worked so hard on the new Freedom Tower or the "One World Trade Center". I've been in the newly rebuilt one and I must say the view is breathtaking.

My cousin actually saved my uncle that day but not in the way you would expect it. My Uncle worked there and that day as he was coming back into the building from lunch my aunt called him because she went into labor(she was about to give birth) and as he left about 20 minutes later the terrorist attack had begun. I'm very grateful that none of my family, relatives, or friends were taken from me and I remind myself constantly. (I was at my grandmas that day safe and distant)
