  1. Age does not matter. What does is your maturity, respect, and manners. I bet 3/4 of EMC would not be able to guess my age from my personality and grammar.
  2. I started gaming when I was 2 (spyro was my first game :D), and by the time I was 5 I wanted to do game development. 4 years later, when I was 9, I found out how to make little games like pong and stuff, and basic platformers. About 1 year ago I began learning Java, and by my 12th birthday I knew how to do a few Minecraft plugins.
The point is, aside from that i'm a nerd because I watch anime and code stuff, is that if I wasn't able to play games at the age of 2, would I have the interest in games or coding skills I have today? Very few 12 year olds even know how an OS works, nevermind how to make a Minecraft plugin or a basic game. There shouldn't be an age limit. End of discussion.

  3. In my opinion, age has never been a problem with games.

I'm 28, and when some people on EMC found this out, they were all like "Someone who's 28 shouldn't be playing Minecraft", this didn't bother me as I get this quite a bit from other games/people. Gaming in my family is quite normal. My wife is 29, nearly 30, and plays video games. And, like me, doesn't care about playing video games at her age.

So people who are 16- shouldn't be banned from playing video games as it's normal for people their age to play in this generation. As long as they're easy to get along with and don't abuse other players, I'm fine with it.

  4. Ah well, I'm mature to the point of senility

  5. Oh god thanks
  6. If I personally owned a server I would have age restrictions. 16+, if not 18+ (Perhaps the latter with exemptions based on maturity) This would, theoretically, ensure a level of decorum and maturity, possibly a nice amount of cohesion, co-operation and temperence (although these traits can be a double edged sword*). However I do not disagree EMC's age policy, nor will I contend with it. However, I don't spend a particularly large amount of time in Town, as the sheer torrent of dribble forced through the chat box makes me convulse and vomit. I'm sure we can all think of a dozen examples of this.

*(Simply down to the fact that younger players can have these characteristics, whether it's simply down to pure naievity and innocence, or, as I have witnessed, some can be simply nice people)

  7. Foohman you know about /ignore right?
  8. Yeah I know right. I was watching/playing Resident Evil with my cousins since I was 4 and look at me! I'm completely fine! If not I'm even smarter than the other kids in my school.

  9. Well then just ignore them!
They will eventually they will rage quit because they won't be able to make a crafting table!

    Just Kidding,

Although it does get super annoying when you are judged by the actions of others because they are the same age of you.

I honestly think that we should get rid of the word "age" since it doesn't really mean anything.

  10. Well, I'm 13, and I'm mature in games because I understand how I would look from someone else opinion if I starting spamming or something, but not all under 16 should be banned. We can't control the world for other people, and what's the point there's soo many kids under 13 that play games, and would still play if it was banned for 16+
  11. If that happened a lot of game companies would loose a lot of money, but then i don't care and i do care because i hate those kids that spam all the time, or when they think they are tough swearing and all. but i don't mind the kids that are nice and listen to the rules. it also depends what type of games it is, like if it is Rockstar Games Grand Theft Auto, or Call Of Duty then i can see why they cant because the content, but when it is a game like Minecraft there is no bad content in the game. If you also noticed there are also a few companies that rate the game to certain ages that help a lot. then there is also staff on a lot of games that try their hardest to keep the game spam and stupid kiddish childish stuff down but banning someone from the server, so if someone starts spamming or swearing just report that person and try to keep the chat a nice place for everyone. I know how this feels but think about it. if he was young he would disagree with that statement if someone else said it to him. that is what i think about it.

Also i am 17 years old and i am a half game programmer been going to school to try and be a video game developer at Rockstar Games, but i just changed my path because my dad hates video games so now i am going to become a Electro-Mechanical Engineer-er. one more year of Robotics in high school and off to college. so don't judge me thinking i am a little kid. got to go back to work, i am in a class to show people how to hack into software and reprogram the software "Bell internet is what we are working on atm". anyway have fun,

    Thanks finch,
  12. Down with the under 16 year olds!!!!! Ban em for life! Ban their IP!! Down with the under 16 year olds!

    (Sarcasm intended)
  13. Personally, I think we should just get the word hate out of this thread. You do not hate them. Hating is when you ignore people because they have annoyed you to the point where you could possibly wish death upon them. We should say dislike :p

  14. Same here.
  15. People know my age, because i've told people over and over again. But a few months ago people thought I was in an age range of 14-17. Somebody once even thought I was 30 years old. Here's the conversation:
    Guy: Are you married?
    Me: Lol no.
    Guy: Oh...How old are you.
    Me: I'm 12.
Guy: I thought you were 30

I remember the moment because it was awkward for me...

  16. This would be age discrimination BUT, it is most likely to be the kids from 5th-8th grade that will go onto different servers to grief/spam, etc.
  17. The maturity of a group of people can not be calculated to encompass that of all of the members of that specific group, within different ages there are all levels of maturity due to fast or slow levels or brain development, therefore leading to some people who would be either a long way below or above any mean 'value' that may be calculated. There are also many people older than 16 who's IQ is much less than that of many people under 16. This would therefore lead to questions about whether this age of 16 should be a physical age or a mental age which would lead to much difficulty and controversy.
Thirdly on the internet there is no need for anyone to say their correct age. As i expect most of you know there are many people on social networking sites, such as facebook, who are under the minimum age. It is incredibly easy to lie about how old you are and there are no consequences worse than having to then after being found out having to actually follow this rule. (Although it is very rare for anyone to be found out).
This person who decided to say these things is obviously an example of someone who's mental age is lower than there physical age as what they said is very childish. They have clearly chosen, as they themselves are 17, to choose an age that is just below theirs to therefore stop anyone younger than themselves playing games. They would have not had this view the year before as this would have therefore rules them out from playing games themselves.
Finally there are many games that are designed and made for children under the age of 16 and this would lead to these games being pointless and useless. If this person was talking about only specific games, which i don't believe they were, then there would be no point of this argument as there are already laws in place to stop people from buying or playing games which require you to be over the age of 12, 15 or 18. These laws themselves do not stop people playing the games they are not allowed as parents or elder siblings are still entitled to buy them and therefore the person of under the specific age can play them.

  18. The same thing happened to me. I own an app design studio, and my domain provider called me to ask me a question. It was funny for me to hear them calling me Mr..., and even more of his reaction when I replied with "yes sir." The man asked me my age, and once I had explained, he said he "would keep an eye out for my apps."
  19. So, what's your app design studio called? :p
