Wild outposts knowledge exchange

  1. Ok. Something like that does not usually work in the wild. The LLO has someone trying to create a wild economy but it is not working. Artistic metropolis is probably possible but and economic industrial powerhouse will fail before it has even started. And if you really want to make it private. Don't tell anyone. You WILL have people coming to visit. And a strict examination process does not work for wild communities. We are on the internet. I could be Obama and not telling anyone.(I'm not.)

  2. I think he is talking about having a sharing economy inside the group, but they work together to make goods to sell to the official economy.

  3. We're not gonna have an internal economy, we're gonna set up a storage system for each team, have them farm and mine as much as they can, then sell the supplies to the big shops on a weekly basis. Both teams will eventually build up enough money to buy a share of a big shop, and expansion will continue in that fashion.
Not everyone's a filthy liar, you know.
  4. I don't like the idea of two opposing teams. Just seems a bit... un-EMC. As in people having enemies and opposition. EMC is meant to be about community and friendship. I have a few people I don't know in real life on Skype, that is what Justin wanted. A nice community where people are not afraid.
  5. Competition is the primary driving force behind all economies. The competition will be friendly and good-natured, not bitter. I will make sure of that.

  9. I myself being mayor of 1 of 3 total wild towns (pantano being the 1 i run), with ismooch as the empire head mayoring pazzo, and deathtomb the mayor of zolara all located on smp9. i've come to learn alot from doing and managing such a project.

    1. having alot of the basic resources at easy reach like farms, grinders, etc. are a must towards the success of wild living.

    2. altho i think some communities work with all residents as having equal say can work in some cases, it does help tremendously to have a small amount of leadership set up to 1-3 people to help avoid some disagreements/issues that may arise.

    3. i too find it much better to focus on 1 or 2 large building projects with the community working as a team to gather materials/building as it helps to lessen the chaos alittle and is in the long run less overwhelming trying to focus on many projects done by many different people all at the same time.

    4. torches, torches, torches!! i can not stress that enough! its much less stressful when your trying to build to not have to worry about having to fix repairs cuz of the ninja creeper that always seems to come out of nowhere lol.

    5. ALWAYS lock your items that u would prefer not to lose to greifers in a locked chest. so it cost 1000r, so what! in the long run its better to invest in a locked chest then having to spend unnecessary wasted time having to go out and replace the items some jerk decided to steal.

    6. altho this can be difficult to achieve, try to have some residents in ur wild towns that u can trust that play on diff time zones that hopefully are on a different times. kinda like town watchers. we all cant be online 24/7 so its good to try and have players on at different times so that the town is fairly watch as much as possible. again this is a rather hard thing to achieve.

    7. COMMUNICATION is key! always always have clear communication with your community. without that residents can end doing projects that may in turn overlap an area that maybe some1 else started a project at and then u get the "what the holy cow you think you doing dude?!" then a whole issue starts. i recently had this problem myself in pantano. it was not a pretty site to see. i made the utter mistake of forgetting to go into local chat as well and other supporters on smp9 was sitting back eating snacks while watching the dramatic show i would imagine lol.

    8. the farther away from spawn as you can get is much better, cuz the longer it takes to get there the less likely a greifer will take that long to try and get there. most noob greifers will give up walking after about 30 minutes or if they die trying to get there that usually stops them from trying again as its not worth their time. if they have to work at it just to arrive there, most griefers wont even bother.

well thats about it i think as of what i've come to learn so far. if i think of anything else i'll try to post it here :D sry if this was abit long of a post, but well worth the reading, i hope!

  16. who knows how to get to zalora?? i want to go
  17. You are permanently banned for griefing at the LLO. You can't exactly get to Zolara if you're unable to login to the servers.
  18. Thanks for the advice! (As well as what everybody else has posted.) Because of this thread I now have plans to make an outpost on Smp8. I've scouted out a possible location a fair distance from spawn, and I know a few trustable people to help get the infrastructure up and running there. I'm a bit busy with another project at the moment, but if everything works out when I do start I'll be back here to post about how things are going. :) (And most likely giving coords to people that would be interested in joining.)
  19. :) good luck and have fun
