Official 1.4 Snapshots Thread

  1. So you want to try out one of the new 1.4 snapshots? Well I can help you out...

    First thing you are going to want to find is you minecraft.jar File... You can see where mine is in this Screen Capture below... If you are using Mac or anything other than Windows - I have no idea what the difference for you is...



    Ok, Now read my next statement Carefully!
    When installing Snapshots or any Minecraft Update, it clears any modifications you have made to it. Mainly including Mods. If you either have not installed any mods, or you don't mind reinstalling them, skip this next step. Any special files such as the coordinates file for the Rei's Minimap mod will not be effected.
    For those that want to keep their installed mods and what not, Copy and paste the minecraft.jar file somewhere else (like on your desktop)

    Now that we have done that, Download the Snapshot you wish to use from the Mojang website - or the links on this thread...

    Snapshot 12w34a
    Snapshot 12w34b
    Snapshot 12w36a

    Most likely it downloaded into a Special Downloads folder. You will now Copy and Replace your existing minecraft.jar file.

    Now run minecraft and you will be running your chosen Snapshot.

    So you have played the new Snapshot to your heart's content... Time to switch back to 1.3.2 so you can play EMC. If you saved your old minecraft.jar file from earlier, you are literally just going to Copy and Replace over the Snapshot one... (any "new" blocks you may have created will simply disappear - You have been warned)

    If you skipped the step of Copying your minecraft.jar file, you will just open Minecraft; Click Options; Click "Force Update"; then log into Minecraft and it will automatically reload the current released Minecraft version. Then re-install mods, and life is good again.

  2. I not getting a jar file i just have the contents that would be inside the jar file. When i try to replace the existing contents of the jar file with those of the one i downloaded minecraft will start but crashes when i make a world?

  3. Please edit that so it just -snips- my Post... You should not need 7zip or WinRar for this at all. I will check all of my links real quick...

    Edit: are you using the links I provided? Just try this one. It works for me...

    If you are still experiencing issues PM me a screenshot of what you are getting

  5. His post was before this last snapshot, and is surprisingly very close to the truth. Except for the it is the main ingredient in the Beacon they have.

  6. Yeah, I know. I was informing him xD The new jumping (Fun fact: I misspelled this word 4 times with an 'H' :p) effect is useless, you still can't jump 2 blocks.

  20. What are you talking about? Check the Latest snapshot I posted about. Technically it is the Wither Skeleton Head. All of these (Creeper, Zombie, Steve, Wither Skeleton, and Skeletons) can be worn as hats - similar to pumpkins
