The First Loser: Blackout Round-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- You people seem to enjoy playing The First Loser, and I enjoy hosting. How convenient! That being said, there is a saying about how variety is the spice of life, so it's time to spice your lives up just a bit. How to play (As usual, rules are copied from previous iterations of the game.) Post on the thread saying that you would like to play. The first 16 people to respond will be entered. The game begins with 16 players randomly placed in a grid. Each round the players will fill out a short form to cast their vote. I will send this form each week in an inbox message with all the participants. I will try to wrap up the current round every other day, but you know me. No promises. After each round, I post the results here. The person with the most votes is the winner and has their own column and row to be immune in the following round. Starting at round 9, you will have to specify whether you want your row or column to be safe if you win. Starting at round 12, only you will be safe if you win. For every person who is eliminated due to not voting for 3 consecutive rounds, these rounds will be reduced by 1. For example, if two people fail to vote for three consecutive rounds, these will occur at rounds 7 and 10 instead of 9 and 12. This is to prevent the possibility of everyone being safe in a given round. The person with the second most votes is the loser (coined "The First Loser") and is eliminated. All first losers choose the final winner. Blackout Round: Additional Rules At the start of the game, all 16 squares of the board will be hidden from view. Players are still placed in the grid as normal, you just can't see where anyone is. When the game starts, I will send you a pm on the forums telling you where you (and only you) are in the grid. At the end of each round, the player in the winning square, the player in the losing square, and the four people adjacent to the winner will be revealed. The edges of the board loop around to the opposite end and are considered adjacent. Three hypothetical rounds that demonstrate the reveal process can be found here. Voting will be done based on position rather than by player. Once a player's location is revealed, I will replace their position in the voting form with their username Example: Dufne is in the top left corner of the grid: Row 1, column 1. Before her location is revealed, the voting form will say "Row 1, column 1". After her location is revealed, the voting form will say "Dufne". Aside from the obscured spaces, the game is functionally identical to other games of The First Loser. You may use your location as part of your strategizing or bartering. Rules You must vote in each round. You have at least 36 hours for this, as I wrap up rounds every other day. Failure to vote in 3 rounds in a row will get you eliminated. If a tie occurs, it is handled by the last person to be eliminated. Random.org will choose should it occur in the first round No alternate accounts. This game can be played however you want. You may play dirty or clean (you do have to stick to these rules, though!). Feel free to rally up some votes, bribe people, or team up with others, secretly or out in the open. I am just the host; it doesn't matter to me how you play, as long as you follow the rules. You may lie to other players about your position. You may vote for yourself. You can only submit one vote per round. If you change your mind later, you can submit a new vote, but please let me know if you do. This is done to prevent people from voting as someone other than themselves. Prizes First Place: 100k and 8 wither skulls Second Place: 50k and a stack of wither roses Third Place: 25k and a piece of coal Let the games begin! \o/

I thought we had once settled on the idea that alterations to the TFL format were not a good idea... but to be honest, this sounds a whole, whole lot more thought through than the Krampus stuff. The new rules were nicely written up also! I'm in.
I mean, we did, but I chose to ignore that decision. <3 Also, if people don't like it, then we don't have to do another blackout round ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Ohhh this sounds interesting, I'd love to join again! I really like this new idea, and hope it'll provide an interesting game!
Hey, welcome (on behalf of Rhy, I guess ), haven't seen you in a while! Yeah, I was wondering how people new to the game in general would fare reading this thread, with the extra rules.
I'm sure you'll figure it out within a few rounds, but if you have any questions, feel free to ask Also, bUmP
There is no Krampus in Ba Sing Se This is one twist I've always wanted to do but never gotten around to trying out. I thought it may be a bit too random. We'll have to see what happens. I am abstaining of course. I'll watch from the bleachers.
