A small addition. Some people seem to think the developers have a lot of time right now, due to the quarantines. Now, I won't be the one specifically saying whether they do or don't, but what I can say is the following. Not all jobs are cancelled. What can be done at home, is done at home. It is not weird to assume that the developers might have a developing job outside of this. It is not unlikely that such a job can also be continued at home, meaning they won't have much more time at all. Just here above Krysyy describes how chickeneer also doesn't have a load of free time as his job also continues. She herself is also needed in an essential job. They just don't have any more time, if anything, perhaps even less! Furthermore, as 1.15 just released after an infinite amount of work, I think they deserve some time to be happy with that. Actually, they don't even have that time, as there are still some bugs that need to be squashed. So massive props to all developers and Krysyy (and everyone else!) for achieving the update to 1.15!
^What Tom said. I think everyone did a great job with this update and am glad to have it. You guys have earned a good break after all this work.
I apologize, I haven’t been well informed on all of this. I became more active within my schooling awhile back when I decided there wasn’t much to do on here anymore. You don’t need to use that tone, I am not a five year old. I just wanted to put out in general that when people say they are gonna do stuff they should. Did they say they’re gonna do dragon tombs, or any other thing? I’m not sure. I pitched into this thread to find out and put my input in within the knowledge I had. I feel like your “because people like you exist” comment was very unnecessary. You could’ve easily told me the same information without it. Thank you.
this thread's OP to be quite frank is absurd and unnecessary.. to think that something like this (which continues to occasionally be brought up) immediately following EMC updating in (I believe) the largest MC update wise that the server has seen-- 3 UPDATES including 1.13, 1.14, 1.15.2-- is distasteful IMO this thread is not cool
Well, 607 beat me to the punch already but yeah: wasn't Dragon Tombs all about the ability to re-fight the Ender dragon? I recall back in the day when it could be revived (which was a feature of 1.9) that people joked how "Mojang had made dragon tombs for EMC". Since it can be revived I no longer see the point of the whole thing to be sure. In a way you could argue that a "dragon tombs -alike" gameplay already exists today, and with that I'm talking about the enraged mobs. Not always a favorite of mine to be honest (I hate enraged ghasts in the overworld because it ruins the gameplay a bit IMO) but even so: it is one of those expansions which makes EMC different than other servers... Due to my absence I never noticed the desire for the revival of the Empire shop, but... I can't help wonder: why? Sure, it can become a drag if you want to purchase something and the shop is out of stock, but with multi-server chatting... who cares? "In my days...." you spend a lot of time on a single SMP and only after you gave up you could restart your search all over on another SMP. These days you can just ask and 70+ players can respond with a nice offer.. surely that should also account for something? It is possible to buy new stuff... Aya wondered last weekend how long it would take us to find some bees and a heart of the sea. Well... then I found an awesome shop on SMP6 (which I only noticed because of the multi server chat where Velma advertised (jinkies! )) and now I have several goodies in my vault, ready to be used next weekend..
I strongly agree with what Shell said about the shop. With more items in circulation from an Empire shop the value of player goods will effectively go down (as mentioned by someone before me) and undermine the matter of a transfer of rupees. With a big reliable shop by the Empire server people won't need to go to small player shops. "But the Empire shop will be expensive so I'll find a cheap seller and I won't rely on the EMC shop". If that is your reasoning then there is no reason for the EMC shop to exist if you're going to end up in a player shop to end with. I believe that this is silly player drama that could be avoided by being grateful that "Hey we just had an update" and "Glad the developers are working their butts off to satisfy the community despite also having lives that interfere with the process". Just my thoughts
I do remember being hyped about this update years ago, and while it does suck that it never came of any fruition, it's probably best to squash it with an official "Not being developed anymore" to end the speculation, if that's the case of course.
First off, let me say that although it took longer than we would have liked, the dev team did a great job with the 1.15.2 update. Lets give them a break. What exactly is "Empires"? I've seen the terms "empires, outposts, and land-claiming" thrown around, but I can't find an exact explanation as to what empires is. I apologize if this has already been answered somewhere and I missed it.
I don't want to debate what y'all have already covered. But as far as unfinished projects - I think some more transparency would be nice. Member of the Month has disappeared. The monthly newsletter disappeared. The Olympics have popped up with an announced date, and then disappeared. If something is going to stop existing, I would like to hear about it, rather than wonder where it fell through the cracks.
All of these have been posted about. They aren't in your face posts, but they aren't being hidden. I didn't want to make an in-your-face post about something negative while we were updating because it only led to more complaints about the update taking so long. It wasn't a 'by the way, empire is stopping all of these items' post on the front page because that would have led to a decrease in morale, while instead I was managing to keep what we had going as the devs worked on their part. So the posts were made, but usually as a part of another thread. Member of the month disappeared because no one was standing out. This was due to decreased activity of the forums on the whole as we focused towards the update. So we axed it for a few months and a player-ran version started instead so we left it as is. Monthly newsletter stopped because we wanted to encourage people to look at the individual posts, since there really weren't that many. The newsletter is just a conglomeration of the posts on the front page. With barely one per month that wasn't an event and our focus devoted to the update, no need for a letter other than to be redundant. May start up again when we have more posts to highlight. I've mentioned this before and now that the update is out I can see something other than 'when are you going to update?' as the first post. I've been very clear about the Olympics in many posts. They are broken and are having to have the command blocks stripped/redone in order to be ran. There was something in the events world that was lagging out my comp for the longest time and we couldn't find it. Hash took lead on this project and their status says they finished 3 the other day.
the fight with the dragon was only supposed to be a part of this addition. The excitement of finding the tombs with friends was supposed to be the intent, with special drops. There are plenty of ways this would have opened a whole you adventure aspect to the survival aspect of the server. Just saying Dragons Fight are already available is ignoring the entire purposed of what Dragon Tombs intended to be. As for the updates I find it very interesting that everyone is so quick at congratulating devs on updating when lots of other servers updated for each version much faster. Always going to the same excuses. We rely on Paper (spigot) to update before we can start doing our updates or this is Mojangs biggest update yet or we are only a small team (how about you get extra Devs). Just pointing to the fact no work can be done until external factors are done. Plenty of work can be done ahead of time or even better working on player experience updates like Dragon Tombs, Land Claiming, Empires. 2.5 Years of work on 1.13-1.15 updates??? Really??? I've spent less time migrating to Office 365 and that was a huge project. PS: On a subject completely unrelated, any chance you can look in the next year or so at my request for converting my Iron Vouchers to Gold Vouchers. I filled the form last November.
