  1. Not sure about this, so asking for clarification: Is there an alert when you logged in informing you that your res was forceclaimed?

If not, how do you know that your res was forceclaimed and not reclaimed by the system, then given to the new player upon joining? If I remember correctly, the message given is generic and the same for both instances, though I could be wrong.

It's rare for new players to forceclaim residences. Usually it's under circumstances like Shell described: a new player wants to move to a residence closer to a friend. Thus, I wouldn't want to prevent them from doing that.

Also want to note that I 100% feel yours and everyone's pain from losing a res to being derelict. Years back, before I was staff, I lost a residence to going derelict due to a couple months of inactivity and not voting. The res in question had a ton of builds on it, chests, and even some promos. It hurt to lose it, and I still wish I had managed to save it, because it had a lot of my very first EMC builds on it (that whole nostalgia thing ;)). So my response is coming from a place of understanding the feeling of losing a res from derelict.
  2. Couple o' months huh. It used to be 10 days, and voting didn't help either. I used to live on a shared residence...

  3. Smartphone/laptop/desktop, etc... once every 5 days to vote is all it takes. Seriously, who doesn't have a smartphone. And you are right, Minecraft is definitely not everything but if it's not that important prolly shouldn't complain if your res gets force claimed. Not meaning to sound harsh.

  4. I think this is ok so +0
  5. Robbery of a player's function is not limiting to the lowest degree where they can go in their first few hours of gameplay, especially when all residences are practially the same due to lack of foot traffic.

I also didn't go into details about my personal life and responsibilities but I would appreciate such comments not being made to me...

  6. No, this is good advice. The residence wasn't absolutely my most prized possession, so when it got claimed, I was a bit upset but it wasn't entirely unexpected.

  7. Alright then carbonyx. I get it.
However much, this is a matter of principle. Frankly, anyone could use this as ammunition to "prove" EMC was a bad server. I get the feeling you're angry at the newbie and made it. This is likely not what you meant, but it still gives off that feeling. That's not going to garner support. Just might be me, though.
  8. (emboldened statement to show I'm responding to that)
I think it is. ;) I don't recognise your sentiment. Carbonyx did not at all insinuate EMC being a bad server, or even being angry.

  10. No..
Most of the community doesn't even seem to understand that most residences are not even force claimed.

Everyone always assumes just because a new player now owns it, that they force claimed it.

But in reality, the system did it. The system reclaims almost every residence that is lost, not players.

    But this suggestion is denied.

Players need to stop worrying about force claiming.
If you lost the res, then it doesn't matter who has it now. The system unclaimed it, not a player.

If a player did force claim the res, then thats great. Means they specifically liked the location and got a plot they preferred more over another.

Realize that we do not even allow people to find derelict residences easy... force claims are always done by people who want a very specific residence. that's what the feature is for. New players may join EMC and want a res beside their friends res. Force claiming is designed to help with that so if a neighbor is derelict, that new player can get a residence now instead of having to wait an unknown amount of days/weeks.

This isn't a bad thing. This isn't something we want to discourage. We want to encourage new players to force claim residences beside their friends.
  11. And as expected, the residence was not force claimed FYI.
