  1. i feel your pain D: axes are nerfed meaning ham hacker prices go down shield destroying is good tho. i played around with haste and it helped with the cool downs about haste 6 and there was no cool down

  2. Problem is, the axes were BUFFED. They do a lot more damage. A wooden axe does the same damage as a diamond sword. A ham hacker will be overpowered. With combo-ing gone, there is no reason NOT to use the ham hacker. As for shields, they'll be infinite. The PvP arenas don't damage items (other than fishing rods). Also, haste 6 is not a vanilla buff, lol.
  3. Some statements reddened here. By the way, I hope this doesn't turn hostile - I am genuinely interested in the problems people see with this, so I'm glad to carry this conversation on. If it gets too annoying for you, please feel free to back away though!

I ... really don't consider being able to click fast a skill. Similarly, not all mice are made equal - while your cheap mouse may happen to click quickly, I know for a fact many mice, especially those in laptops or other cheap kinds, do not allow clicking beyond a specific speed. That's not a huge skill... Are you telling me your skill in 1.8 PvP relies on how fast your clicks can be? Because, that kind of is my argument. That kind of clicking can doom other players before the PvP event even begins, if their mouse can't register clicks as quickly, or something of that sort.

Again, this is something one just has to get used to. When starting a new world, yeah, seeing a Skeleton and having no method of escape is pretty much a death sentence. But after getting stone tools, they become pretty easy to deal with, as long as you don't run as blatantly through the night or dark patches as you would pre-1.8. I think this was quite needed - if you don't mind me saying, being able to stand in front of a mob and whack it to death before it even reacts is far too easy. This is how I deal with most Skeletons in 1.8, even before I get armor or anything. I run up to it and slash/punch it until it dies, because its accuracy can be quite bad or it can react too slowly to make an impression. Not only this, but the animation and newfound toughness brings a bit of extra life into the world, no matter if you're exploring the wilds of the Empire or venturing through your singleplayer world.

If you mean by Skeletons, maaaybe... but I don't find myself getting jumped by mobs too often. I typically light up the area I build in, or try to build mostly during the day. Again, this is just me, I don't find much use from the shield but if other players do I'm not going to pick a fight over its bugginess. That should be fixed, because I did notice it when I played 1.9.

This... should not be that big of an annoyance. Once it comes up that first time, it takes no time to clear all that gravel away, and I do not find that frustrating. I really don't see why taking a few seconds to let a tool come up is so annoying. That's a small enough thing that I don't even notice it unless I look for it happening.
  4. Being the faster spam-clicker doesn't make you deal more hits pre-1.9; every player/mob has its own little cooldown between getting hit where it can't be hit again, already. You can't hit your target as fast as you can click; you can hit it as fast as the game lets you. You can also jump and slash to get critical hits, timing your slashes like in 1.9, but optionally.

This makes sense for Minecraft's frantic, unsophisticated, core movement system. You can't lock on to targets or even gauge how effective you're being. You can't dodge, and you have only one type of attack: flail. Your only movement ability is to run, look, and jump, in freeform.

If Mojang wants to make Minecraft's combat more sophisticated and "skill-based", then a heck of a lot more will need to be done to its core than just some band-aid swing cooldown. Since none of these other elements have changed in tandem, this swing cooldown just feels like it doesn't belong. All it has done is restrict. It makes melee combat slow, frustrating, and feel unintuitive, if not counterintuitive.

I can't speak for anyone else, but maybe that partly describes why it's less fun for some people, who by the way have probably already ninja'd me by now.
  5. true this is cool but what if u enchant shields :p (cough *promo cough) i agree with uber in the above statment and i hope that this is changed in 1.10 like the dmg of swords and axes
  6. thank you for the offer. I have been so busy donating lately I am trying to re group on some resources. I have not tried it yet but the new game dynamics sound like something that might not be for me. I will give it a try though. I will try anything once and the fun things three or four times. As far as team ups.... I cant, I might help someone who needs it but sometimes I need to disappear because I cant stand being around people. Thats why I just Donat product or do short jobs to help people.

Thanks for the quick offer, maybe i will see you in game sometime

  7. Click speed helps, but it's not what makes PvP what it is. Jitter clicking helps, (I can't do it with my mouse) but it's perfectly fine and possible to PvP without it. You can still be good at PvP without having a 10-15 CPS. (I have 6-7 CPS)

The skeleton has aimbot, lol. It's not even funny anymore. It's insanely overpowered. It's more overpowered than god apples before the nerf.
  8. Awesome. ^^ If you're more interested in gathering materials and the like, I'm always glad to go on resource gathering trips. So I'll be glad to tag along with those if you have any interest.

I will agree, yes. More should be done to further balance it out.

However, fighting over the 1.8 vs 1.9 PvP was not my intent with my original post. It was to point out other fun aspects of the game, like new purpur and endstone blocks, as well as be a bit informative. I did not intend for that to be the focus. I'm responding now because it is interesting to me to see what people hate the most about it... and yeah I'll agree. More should be done, but Minecraft is still growing and changing. I don't think this'll be the last update to combat.
    ---------------------

Well, they kind of are computer-generated AI... kind of hard to have them aim and shoot a player without using a "bot"... But I do think they could be a bit more merciful, lol. I won't lie, they irritated the heck out of me early-game singleplayer.

  10. In my experience, the shield only rises when you can't place a block in the selected space or you aren't pointed at a block.

False. The draw time is for combat only. Nothing changes if you are trying to destroy a block. Try it.

  11. Are you sure? I may be wrong. I'll check it out.

I know for a fact that's wrong. Excuse the watermark, I'm cheap and I won't fork over money. But, look at my hotbar. There little timer is the draw time. It needs to be filled before you can attack.
  12. The draw times are there, but AFAIK they don't affect anything except combat.

  13. No, it doesn't. You are using 1.9.4, right?

You can click as fast as you want. It only affects damage
