[Est. Outpost] People of Carthaga (PoC)

Discussion in 'Frontier and Player Outposts' started by Kaizimir, May 18, 2014.

  1. See its like a maze, so visitors will most likely get lost.
  2. Does anyone realize what post # we're on?
  3. We're on #2499 which means next one is 2500 which is why I have been slightly spamming chat

  4. Project EARTH
So this is when I finally make the post officially opening EARTH. So here is what it is:

    Environmental
    Agency
    Removing
    Terrain
    Holes/Horrors

Basically what EARTH will do would be going around fixing the terrain. Whenever a creepers explodes, we fill in the hole. Whenever somebody builds a dirt tower or shack and leaves it, we take it down. When trees are only half cut down, we finish the job and plant a new one. You get the point. So here is the application form:

    Name
    Why you want to join
What you specialize in (Holes, taking down structures, etc)

Let me tell you that this is NOT an organization that goes around destroying buildings. That is the griefers and they are hated and illegal. We only destroy old unused buildings that we have permission to destroy. We will have a HQ in northern Carthaga in the glass dome. For now we are only in Carthaga but maybe later we will go to the rest of the server.

  5. I'd love to join!
    1. In-game name: _Cave_Johnson and Pink_Floyd_1979 (<- I'll probably use that one more because I need to be in town with this account, as this is my home server)
    2. Timezone: Pacific Standard (San Francisco & Los Angeles)
    3. How long have you been playing Minecraft: I've been playing since Beta 1.8
    4. Have you ever been kicked or banned and what was the reason: I got kicked once for spam, about 3 years ago
    5. Do you plan to build/have a mega mall/another big project: Not sure about this question. If you mean in the city, then idk. Maybe I'll build a skyscraper. I'm most likely going to build a few houses for myself and others, in the American Craftsman or Prairie School styles, due to me having a huge liking for them.
    6. What is your favourite Minecraft activity: Taking floorplans of actual houses, and trying to build them in mc
    7. Why do you want to join PoC: I haven't been in a wild city for a long time, and thought it would be nice to be in one again
    8. Which of the 8 commandments do you find most important: Definitely the no-griefing commandment. I mean, I don't want to have my builds destroyed, so I'm not gonna go destroy someone elses. I find it the most important, because before I joined the empire, I played on a server (no longer online), and whenever I tried building something cool, it always got griefed, no matter how much I told the staff about it.
  6. I'm not surprise, cuz I 've seen your charaters online everyday everynight XD

  7. optifine is a mod that gives you more options to configure Minecraft graphic settings and reduces a lot of lag. I recommend everybody to install it as it tremendously helps to make your game experience more smooth.

Hey wildbeast, once you reached Carthaga central, please feel free to use the food chest in the community storage to replenish.

Havee you found the gold ingots, I deposited for you? I might even have some more, just need to dig in the Carthaga Towers in smp-town.

Dang it, SkareC!! Maybe you wanna donate some of those gold blocks :p

I think there is more to come for that post that you quoted. But I agree that the 7 posts before were a bit over the top ;)

Hi _Cave_Johnson, thanks for your application. We can always use some good builders and I can't wait to see your American craftsman/Prairie style builds. Please find the way description in the Starter's Guide along with other useful information in a PM to you.
Hope to meet you soon, Kaizimir

On another note, look what I have found on Aikar's profile:
"Completely awesome Anti Grief update is now in final staff testing.... :D" - Maybe it is true, and indeed we will finally have grief protection. That would be awesome.

  8. Haven't been back into Carthaga Central for around a day. Been at the farm the whole day.
  9. Oh I see, the gold I diposited is then located at the wrong farm. Please find it close to central asap and let me know when you got it.
  10. I just wanted to take a few moments to say Hello to the People of Carthaga and applaud the success of your outpost.

I am currently in the process of building my own outpost on SMP2, which is the server I started on. I strive to build stuff that would be beneficial to all who come to SMP2. I also happen to be one who prefers to go mine for materials to build with versus buying from a shop. Being an old-school gamer (Pac-Man Era), I tend to do stuff the hard way it would seem to most. I chose an outpost location beyond 100k, and then chose to not go via nether-rail. There is no easy access for griefers though, however, it is quite a trek. It would take 2 ( irl ) days to walk / run there in the over-world. So with the help of my son ( SUPERI0N ), we began building roads to make the commute a bit easier. I look forward to the possibility of teleportation, but still feel that a network of roads will be beneficial to others in their venture to start their own outpost in my favorite place to be on EMC: The Frontier.

Recently, I have learned that one such endeavor has sprung up in the shadows of the road we laid long ago. It is technically too close to the EMC Frontier Outpost to become a true outpost, but that has not stopped the masses from visiting, and setting up shop in a cozy place called UnderHelm. This wilderness outpost has incited a frenzy that has taken SMP2 by storm and appealed to many. I am actually thrilled that the road was of benefit to them, and from time to time I try to patch that stretch of road up with my alt that is still in town.

In my endeavor to start a successful outpost, I have kept an eye on the Frontier Wilderness threads to learn what I can from the other outposts. I have been reading this thread for some time now, and I must say that this SteamBoatWillie is an awesome outpost member. He has PoC fever and I am amazed at all he not only suggests could be done, but actually jumps in there and does what and when he can to further your community.

Having said these things, I will get to what I wanted to point out. I think SteamBoatWillie may have misunderstood the name of that other outpost. UnderHelm does not have a "w" in it. Here is a link to their official thread :http://empireminecraft.com/threads/the-underhelm-thread.62224/#post-1123001
I am sure this was just an oversight, but when it was repeated in a second post I wanted mention it.

I saw you guys actually had a video posted a few days back, and that peaked my interest so much so that I trekked out to your outpost to have a look around in person. I just wanted to look around and see what you guys were doing that was not covered in that video. There really is a lot going on in Carthaga, and it will be interesting to see if Shyguy can really cram it all in just 4 more videos. I made the mistake of being curious and wondering where that ladder on the side of a building led, only to find myself well above the clouds, and no easy way down except the ladder. Yes, I know that should be easy, but don't forget the old-school part :)

Rest assured, I am a very careful minecrafter, and I usually stay on ps setting 1 unless for some odd reason I decided to hunt mobs for something. And yes, I am sure the idea that I came out UN-announced was probably not the best method of interaction, but there truly was not anyone from PoC on at the time, and curiosity got the cat in that one I suppose. I could have, however, never mentioned being there, but a friendship built on lies is not worth having.

From what I can tell, Carthaga is the largest outpost that is still active today in EMC. Someday I hope my outpost becomes as successful as Carthaga, and that we can be friends even if you aren't on the best SMP (2) :)

Keep up the good work Carthaga. There are numerous other outposts out here that look to you to lead the way in innovation and community spirit. From what I have been reading, I believe you guys are up to the task.

    A Carthaga Inspired SMP2'r

    Sincerely,

  16. Okay, as Kai said -

It's recommended that you install it, once you installed it, follow this:

Go to Options > Video Settings > Performance >

Then turn on fast render and smooth world plus Dynamic updates anddddd Lazy Chunk Loading
This should help with both gameplay and that problem.
  17. epic! what do u need? I will leave it in my houses since we r on at different times btw my house is in the dessert in the sandstone oasis cant miss it :D
