  1. I gave up on DT a loooonnngggg while ago.

I would rather have Dragon Tombs scrapped, EMC on 1.8, and a bunch of little features come out now and then. When I first joined EMC, there was something new out every few days, and there was always new features to play around with. That stopped happening around May 2012ish, and I honestly feel like its one of the reasons why playing Minecraft on EMC feels like a chore nowadays. I log on, sprint around town for an hour and talk to people, then log off. I literally have nothing to do in multiplayer.
  2. That covers the last like 8 months out of 3 years. Most of those posts about Dragon Tombs and land claiming are 2012. EULA changes never happened, EMC is not 1.8, and you can't change your name on EMC.

Honestly, it seems like 1.9 might pretty much have Dragon Tombs. I don't know the details, but will 1.9 make Dragon tombs more/less possible? Apparently Enderdragons will respawn or so rumor has it. Will 1.9 make Dragon Tombs silly and redundant?
If Mojang made Dragon Tombs by another name, that will work for me. Perhaps vanilla Minecraft can just be very slightly tweaked to be more "fair" for multiplayer. That seems more reasonably in the scope of what EMC might actually be able to get done.
Wasn't DT's original purpose to provide a replayable, multiplayer version of the End?

  3. "How not official?" Well, it is something I want to do; so will prioritize it as such. Again, do not want to create ANY hype as I am talking 2 months before this school semester ends and I can reasonably work on that project.

Since I am not working on 'dragon tombs' - I want to separate the association of land-claiming away from that project. Essentially, I need the political decisions set in stone before I can write code to support land-claiming. Yes, we will be using Residences in some way, but determining the costs, features, and ease of access is what needs done. (In detail). Again the politics is probably the largest hindrance to the community with perhaps a lack of trust.

Again, I repeat. None of my comments are intended to imply any information regarding Dragon Tombs. Not that I (staff) am hiding anything, but nothing is necessarily set in stone at this point.
  4. Dragon Tombs...
Its out there, believe it, some have even seen it ...

    :p

  5. DragonTombs is on EMC btw...
I don't know why people don't think DragonTombs aren't here..

  7. Yes, I edited post to reflect that fact :)
  8. I'll throw my honest opinion in here and just say that I believe DragonTombs should be divided up into 3 or 4 parts, this way the general public of EMC is satisfied and not just waiting for something that has been teased so many times. Here's a simple way to releasing a project, while the actual act isn't simple the stages in which it is released is.

Part One: Announcement as this has been discussed above I'll just leave it at that.

Part Two: Beta - This is where you allow the general public to test, and provide feedback where you could not, even if it crashes Minecraft halfway through the damned thing, at least you give us the icing of the cake...

Part Three: Construction - After Beta you should know what goes wrong and what doesn't, this is where you clean up, chisel away the rough edges and then take down the scaffolding.

Part Four: Release - Finally the official release, while there's bound to be a bug or two, this will be the most solid your project will be, you'll have good code that you can soon add too, you'll have it prepared for future updates and then you move on, coming back to it every now and then for a quick maintenance.

The only thing I've had issues with is the when we were given Dragon Fragments/Stones. When Dragon Frags and Stones were released it would have been nice to use them, now they're just sought out for the sake of doing something. If you do anything soon I believe a use for these things in the meantime would be beneficial to me personally. Even if it's to unlock a short level in which you're given a key or something!

Now some of you will more than likely argue with my logic, but I feel pretty strong about this, as I have strayed away from this layout in previous projects of mine, and have failed. Good luck to Aikar and his attempt to release this, but in all honesty if people have been waiting 3 years for it, it better be good...

  9. This is how Many "big name" Minigames servers do it. They release it as a "closed beta" for a week or so to donators, then after a week or 2, they change it to "public beta" and they are able to find Every bug because of that. I'm sure that makes it much easier for Devs to fix, and it is also a great way to get the community together and have fun.

Also removes A Lot (starting to count years now) of "wait time".
  10. Precisely, I mean EMC talks about how it wants to be a "big name" server, when we can't even get a real taste of something that has been promised for 3 years! Sorry if I seem to be a little cross but I've been here two years and never paid much interest into Dragon Tombs, but the fact that people have been eagerly waiting and sticking around for something for so long and not getting it? That's like giving a poor person a thousand dollar check to an empty bank account...

  11. yes they may not have happened completely but they started to be processed but changed due to minecraft being bought and a hold put on it. name changes may not be available because it is being worked on to be fully supported. it all comes down to things happening and then something else comes along to postpone or just put things on hold

There! Dragon Tombs is done! :D
  13. Wow. Clearly you spent a lot of time editing that. Amazing job!

The post by dinnerbone or Jeb or whoever could've simply meant that the dragon would respawn in worlds where it was defeated for the sole purpose of allowing people to fight it in the new battle, not necessarily that it would respawn every time it died.

  14. Yeah because it would do more with Dragon Stones than just selling them for rupees. I think that's what Dragon Stones do.....idk I've only been here for a little while :p
  15. I remember not long ago things were going great. EMC had an actually update every few weeks and things were really looking good. Then EULA happened and all effort switched to that. Then 1.8 happened and people wanted that. Now we have the games server which is being considered important but that is all a long way away. One thing I have noticed over the years is that EMC is largely dependent on 1 or 2 actually coders and usually they are all busy with irl things. To really reach the next level, there needs to be either some full time people working for the server or more developers. Without one of these two things, we will just be sitting stagnantly while everything around us slowly pushes this server to the edge.
  16. If we could apply to be developers, I probably would - when I had the Java knowledge required (which is coming a long for me :p) and the time (something I don't have at the minute...).

  17. Though this may not be completely relevant, I happened upon the EMC Dev Roadmap. I assume that they are doing this in order and focusing their minds (100% hopefully) on the task they are on.

    For the lazy:

We know the players love to be "in the know", so we've decided to start a Development Roadmap that everyone can follow to see what is planned for the Empire!

Keep watch on this thread for all the latest progress.
    • Name Change Support - Fix issues in our code that will break when a player changes their name due to the upcoming feature.

      • Players use Dragon Stone's to participate in a special event.
      • Finishing that event gets an item to enter the Dragon Tomb.

      • Completing the Event gives the group Tokens, which can be redeemed for a Dragon Egg.

  18. I agree, I think we should have more developers. I know that there are more developers out there, it is a raising job force. I mean my cousin who is 16 makes money by developing plugins for minecraft.
  19. :p
