Vote Page Update Ideas

Discussion in 'Community Discussion' started by JackBiggin, Dec 17, 2017.

  1. Hey guys,

As you probably know, there were some updates to our voting system recently, and now there are more rewards than ever.

I'll be updating the vote page soon(TM) to know about all of these things, but thought I'd ask you all if there's anything else you'd like adding. I'm not exactly the most... active... voter, so barely use the page myself - you guys probably know what it needs much more than me.

These are my ideas atm, but bare in mind they might not all happen due to API restrictions:
    • Bring back EasyVote as an option - and make it actually work properly this time without crashing your browser
    • A progress bar showing how close you are to earning your next voter's reward
    • Improved mobile version
    • Design refresh - so that the improved mobile version is easier, and so that I can update it easier
    • Cross-device silver/gold indicators for whether you can vote or not (although this very much relies on Aikar giving API access to that)
    • A timer until the 16 (I think) hours until your streak can be increased is up (as above)
Please let me know if you have any other ideas - I'll do a beta launch before the new version actually comes out so it can be tested.
  2. This is awesome! Thank you for your hard work!
  3. For me I hardly look at the page, I open it, click the links I need and done.

Although it was a great idea, I don't bother looking at the "next rewards" stuff because it doesn't actually provide useful information.

My next vote is 897. It says 100-300 rupees, up to 10 diamonds and a small bag of tokens. This is just not very informative. Is it 100 or 300 rupees? 1 diamond or 10, there's a big difference. And tokens are pretty useless to most people.

Aikar wants Topg pushed so I suggest we just say exactly what the player will get for voting at TopG next and when that should be. And then say it will be less for other sites.

In addition I would change the vote bonus system so you get an increase after 12 hours for TopG only. At the moment I wait until the 16 hour mark to get the fastest bonus increases and I know plenty of others do the same. (Yes I know you aren't asking for changes to the voting system but I think it makes sense).

  4. I think when the page was originally setup, there was a bit of randomness with the rewards. I don't think this is the case anymore, so we can probably go and make exact numbers show up now for currencies. I think diamonds/emeralds are still randomised slightly though, so will probably have to still leave that bit a bit vauge.

Yeah, will be making TopG much more noticeable - I think it'll probably end up having a more prominent background colour/font size. If I end up with access to their premium reward count, then will definitely be displaying that info too. I hope to be able to show exact timers for all sites (including TopG), but that depends on it being exposed to the API too.

Agree with the final point - but yeah, that's not part of this update. Tbh, I feel that the entire voting system is too complicated and should be simplified, but for this I can just try to make it as understandable as possible.

  5. What's EasyVote?
The iron and gold thing doesn't work anyway. For me, at least. The button colour changes when you left-click or tap on it, and I always open in new tab. And I would think anyone who votes on more than one site opens in new tab.

  6. You can increase it every 12 hours, as I've discovered.
  7. Lets you vote on all sites without leaving the page. It's a minor quality of life thing, but can speed stuff up slightly.

It will open in a new tab if you just click it - there's no need to right click and open it in a new tab manually.

  8. Needs more Pizza Hut

  9. There is. If you 'just click it', you get taken to the page right away. That means you'll need to get back to the overview page afterwards, before going to the next site, and also wait again. When I want to vote on four sites, I'll open four sites, then vote on four sites. It seems inefficient to open one, vote on it, then open another, vote on it, then open another, vote on it, and then open another, and vote on it.
  10. That's why you use ctrl + click. ;)

I believe it's actually quicker to just open all the links at once via ctrl + clicking them, so the first one has loaded when you've finished clicking. :)

  11. That makes sense.

I can add "open all sites" button for people who prefer to do it this way.

  12. Ah, right. My uncle 'hammered' middle-click into me, though. :p

  14. bonus: make that timer scale down and reduce based on the real rules! If you vote on 4 sites, its less than 16hrs :)

reduced 90 minutes per extra vote per day
  15. I mean sure, if you give me access to that ;)
  16. Overlooked this thread. I know I'm late but.. oh well ;)

I wouldn't change too much with the current links. Extra additions are fine, but I hope the links themselves don't get seriously altered to cater to tabs, because there's also no need.

See: most modern browsers I work(ed) with provide "tab control", and one of the specific features is that the browser can re-use a tab. So when I vote I never bother with a pop-up menu, I simply click on one of the vote links and the page gets opened in a new tab. I vote, flip back to the vote page, and then click on the next button.

Then the same tab opens and the new page gets loaded. Couldn't be easier.

It would really be a nuisance if that got changed somehow.
  17. I've found that it's way quicker to open all voting sites at once, so the first one has finished loading when you've finished clicking, and then you don't have to wait after clicking on "vote" to go to the next site, you just click on the next tab while it's still "processing" the vote. Then when you've voted on the last site, I go back to the first, and click 8 times on the "close tab" "button", while also checking if each tab says "successfully voted" (or whatever its way of telling you that is). :) Is that a clear explanation? :p Probably not, but I can try making a little video showing what I mean, if desired (by you or someone else).

Since recently, to make it even quicker, I made a bookmark folder with all the voting sites in it, so I can right click that, and click on "open all in a new window", to save the clicking 8 times... ;)

And, yeah, like others said, I don't really look much at the vote page anymore, I just open all the links (now by not even going to the vote page itself... :p), vote, and am done. :p Only thing I can think about right now, is to add a few more sites... ;)

  18. No promises, but I'll see if I can make a thing that you can bookmark that opens all the voting sites at once for power users like you (skipping the voting page).

  19. Maybe show a time from when you last voted either it be 1 hour or 8 months... helps people not have to login to see.
  20. How do we check their last vote time if they're not logged in?
