  1. Well...
    that's because we have staff.
  2. Okay well..

    EMC Staff > XBL Staff?
  3. In the same sense that 1 > 0, yes.
  4. We don't need more good more mods. We need the current mods on a little more.
  5. They're on a bit more than you might expect. I know this is a broken record, but we have tools that allow us to monitor even while not in game. Also, some mods have alt accounts they play under, and can moderate using their square tool from their mod account at the same time.
ISMOOCH, Maxarias and Crazy1080 like this.
  6. Well, I mean, theres always me to consider. I would use my powers for ev- good. Yes, good to, um, HELP, yes, hlep the server.
  7. Everybodys arguments are INVALID, I have a super duper secret for dealing with the spammers.. here it is.. Ready?... alright ... /ignore

  8. but some people feel that that isn't fixing the problem that is ignoring it and when some new guy comes and sees the spam then bad first thoughts but others don't feel that because they ignored all the spammers But I have to say i think it should be a auto kick/ban if more than 10 people /mute a spammer but I'm not sure if that would work :/
  9. It wont work, because nobody /ignores.. they come on the forums and complain to the mods... I bet they have gray hairs by now... It would work if you say so many things in a certain amount of time. But no, because people are immature and stupid when it comes to taking care of their own buisness.
  10. no simply because they no the next guy wont so there isn't much point (Just an idea) but seriously I never ignore people only because well its not fixing the problem wow I have had so may times in my life I ignored things guess what...they don't get fixed :p but I have to admit all you have to do is /report [IMPORTANT] ... because they do actually stand out from the /report "yeah this guy was using caps and I'm like yo stop using caps and he didn't lol" or the /report "he is cruel to his farm animals please tell him about animal rights..." ( I never do [important]... but just saying I think that would work if you know what I mean.

EDIT: and whats with all the angry faces im now angry :p
  11. If /ignore just simply doesnt strike your fancy. THEN TURN OFF THAT CHAT. :)
  12. We are not stupid, ignore is like someone griefing you and you just ignore it, and if someone is swearing on the empire try shouldn't even be in the empire.

And ours mods have jobs and need sleep! We all can come from differed time zones, so mods do have to sleep and have jobs like I think ismooch is in the army, so he would have ALOT to do, so just leave mods as they are, if we need mods, ice-cream will find a suitable
    Mod.
  13. ... Honestly, you cant always run to a mod or admin. seriously... take care of your own problems. you cant keep running to them. they cant deal with EVERYBODYS problems
  14. Yeah because Justin and Icecreamcow are openly recruiting mods.
  15. Because if people are breaking rules just look the other way. That is one hell of a good spirit you have my fellow citizen.
  16. No, if justin and Jeremy need another mod, they will find one suitable for it. Not just OPENLY giving them out. At times, yes there is space to fill in staff. Then jeremy will go and check the applications. Thats all im saying.

  17. well no "" now :D now I don't want to have a conversation about this but /ignore doesn't FIX the problem it hides it (I'm not saying anyone should go do something about it in just saying in my point of view (I think differently to others because I'm a Squizzel) but yeah I'm saying that in my mind /ignore isnt really fixing the problem its hiding it

its like having a leak in your roof so you plaster it over (that didn't fix it it hid it and when people look under the skin they notice wait this was never fixed (Unless the guy was banned... what they always are but it may take a while)

im only saying this I'm not saying go Fix this now because I am all pro and think I can run this place better than it is now... (totally not quoting anyone *No but I'm not :p*)
  18. I fixed it for you :) but remember they will try to fix everyone's problem ;)
  19. Why does it matter if you ignore him or kick/ban him? Either way he is not longer spamming your chat box. If you want to help you can remind everyone they can ignore him also.

This is 100% the best short term option, until a mod can get rid of him.

Ignore = Ban In the end both get the same results.

  20. I'm pretty sure their point is that excessive swearing, racist comments, sexual harassment, and other major chat issues are not really "their" problem, but the entire Empire's problem.

But, as has been pointed out several times on this thread, we do a very good job of reducing this problem. I'm sure you are simply suggesting that /ignore is a temporary fix for each player until staff can deal with the troublemaker permanently.

All of this has been covered pretty well upthread. But here's a final word on the subject of what each person should do:

    1. Warn the player that they are breaking the rules.
    2. If it's really pressing, find staff and report directly to them if staff is available.
    3. If no staff is available to deal with the problem immediately, /report it. As has been noted, the more reports for an extreme problem the farther up the list the report is moved.
    4. /ignore user
This is how the system is currently set up to work. It works pretty well as witnessed by the fact that most of these abusive trolls are permanently gone between 5-10 minutes after they start. Every suggestion that has been given on this thread has been brought up in staff conversations or at staff meetings.

Now, this thread is going to be locked because we are simply rehashing things at this point.
