  1. I get paid approximately $35 an hour and I get spat on, kicked, punched, yelled at, bitten, have urine and faeces thrown at me, am exposed to contagious deadly organisms, had maggots kicked at me, been vomited on, had someone elses blood on various and many of my own body parts, been called every curse word under the sun, deal with what are some of the worst smells on this planet, have my life threatened and have my families lives threatened. Plus some other things lol. I also do the work of 2 people but get paid for 1. However ... I absolutely love and adore my job.
  2. what do you do? O.O
  3. Teacher?

  4. sounds like a nurse to me... and the fact her name is nurse killjoy :p

  5. Sounds like nursing work to me, or at least what I was exposed to during my brief foray into the field :D

Minus the maggots -- never saw any of those, but certainly the rest.

  6. Lol yes I am a Registered Nurse.

I have seen a lot. Mostly in peoples wounds.

  7. AND THAT, my friends, is why I will NEVER become a doctor...
  8. Pfff doctors do nothing. In a hospital, they spend approximately 5 minutes with each patient. They don't touch them. They just talk about them, and talk about them in their presence as if they aren't there. Doctors don't get their hands dirty.
  9. Sounds like Empire is becoming a victim of its own success.
There's *plenty* of other communities online where someone couldn't spout obscene racist comments for several minutes, without being kicked out. The mods system needs scaling up; I realise you're very busy, and trying very hard - but you simply need more people - who are actually active in the channel - who can kick out obvious trolls/spammers etc. That's all.
  10. So, they spend 5 minutes doing heart surgery, and after 5 minutes, they hand it over to the new nurse who just joined the other day.

  11. We def need a /staff command. I suggested this recently.

My personal suggestion is if your not seeing quick responses, please try to find a mod to /tell in person.

On the weekends, we get flooded with crappy reports. it masks the legit ones, and makes it hard to see .

But when multiple people spam reports on the bad guy, they go to the top of the list and lets us see them easier.

So please, /report even if someone else has already said they reported.

Additionally, weekends is also when alot of us are also "playing" the game, trying to meet goals and such too, so its very easy for us to miss a notification or go longer periods of time between checking Square.

A /staff command and cross server tells would be awesome... but in the mean time, /report away and come find us if no mod is on and its been a long period of time.
  12. When you talk about "doctors" in my mind it means a person who has done their medical degree. Not someone who has gone on to specialise in something, eg surgery. Want to talk about surgeons? Then say surgeons. To the staff of a hospital, a surgeon is different to a doctor. And just because a nurse is new does not mean they are incapable or bad at their job. And not all surgeons are great.
  13. I never said they are bad at their job.
  14. My question to you after that is, why are not there instead of here? Comparing the Empire to other communities in any scale or instance is honestly mute. The Empire is a community that is beyond unique in the Minecraft world. No one is saying that we do not need more moderators. Nor that we do not need improvements at any point in our system. However, would you rather that gradually great staff members are added that are honest, and fitting for the job? or we just start adding as many people as we can quickly?

Multiple organisations try to handle growth that way, and it will ultimately fail. The staff we have, are a top of the line group, whose morals and ethic alignments are rarely (if ever) questioned. Its a process. We are people. When I am at home, I dedicate 90% of my free time here, and I enjoy it. However, I work 75% of the week. So realistically what seems like a lot of playing time to me, may not seem like a lot of playing time to you. As a person I can not be expected to see and correct everything, nor would I expect anything of the such of my fellow co workers. The large amount of applicants are individually screened and evaluated, so only the most appropriate players are selected.

The community problems in the Empire are noticed, they are definitely not ignored. We make strides every day to streamline an already unique system to make the gaming experience better for you, the player. With 22 active staff members, there are multiple infractions that are caught and corrected each day, on each server. I can guarantee you that the staff team is doing everything in the power given to make the experience better for you. No, we can not please everyone 100% of the time. If that were possible, the option to ban someone would not be available.

The tl;dr version: We are trying. The complaints are seen and noted. You already have the best staff for a server this size you will ever find, and it is only getting better. We work hard to make ourselves better. One day maybe, we will have enough quality staff members to have one on all the time.
  15. Maybe you should find one of those "other" communities and go play there.

  16. I still think, and yes, it's not flawless, that Supporter Reports should recieve a higher priority in the Report queue as potentially being more of a legitimate report.

    Makes sense.
  17. While You do note that you understand it is not flawless, we must realise that there is not good in all people. I wish I could personally believe that every supporter here was trustworthy. However, they are not. There are players who are willing to pay the 5-20 dollars for that doubt. Hoping that a staff member will see them and doubt any report of claim that is made about them. The staff here follow a strict principle. The extra benefit you receive as a supporter ends at the perks listed on the donation page. Until one of those rows list "Better treatment from staff" all the colors on the name mean to me are that you were willing to support the server. In no way will I see a diamond supporter and think "Oh they are a supporter, there is no way they did that".. and in that same treatment, I will believe a claim of a regular member just as much as I will a supporter. We all play this game, I can not weight the ability of a person to make an honest decision just because they have the loose funds to support the Empire.

  18. This isn't exactly right in that nothing has really been "assigned." That's not the kind of people ICC and Justin are. But, most of the moderators have been happy to make some sacrifices and volunteer to move.

  19. This reminds me of Monty Python's The Meaning of Life: "Does anybody have anything they rather be doing than marching up and down the square?"
  20. Exactly. I studied nursing (I don't do it, but I studied it) and everyone can be assured that after completing all of the clinicals and qualifications there really aren't any "new" nurses working the wards. At least not "new" in the sense that was implied.
