A few questions

  1. hi there! i'm pretty new to the server and i'm curious about a few things:

    1) why aren't there any naturally growing flowers, weeds, etc on my residence? is there a res flag i need to change for this or do i have to go hunt these plants down (wilderness or shops) to create my gardenmini forest?

    2) how do you get player heads?

    3) what res flag do i need to disable to prevent visitors from teleporting out of my res?

    4) is there a list somewhere which says which wasteland outpost is close to a specific biome?

    5) in a port/dock near my res i saw some villagers that seem to be frozen in time. mannequins more like. anyway, how do you make those?

    thanks in advance ^^

  3. Are you on smp2 ?
[edit] Your next to a SS res he has magic powers xD

  4. 1) You can't change that

    2) /pvp or generally dying

    3) Can't

    4) Nope, its a good idea though

    5) Never heard of this before, what res? (/res info on that res)

    • You can bonemeal grass to grow grass and flowers, depending on your residence biome. You must grow trees by planting saplings. Your residence is just a normal 60x60x63 dirt cube
    2) how do you get player heads?
    • You must kill yourself to get yours, die in PVP, or kill somebody in PVP. Then you can sell/trade heads
    3) what res flag do i need to disable to prevent visitors from teleporting out of my res?
    • From teleporting out of your residence? There is an enderpearl flag. You can use /res set move f so people don't get in your res. Nothing stops them from getting out of your residence.
    4) is there a list somewhere which says which wasteland outpost is close to a specific biome?
    • Use the live map under the Community tab OR /map command in-game then find one.
    5) in a port/dock near my res i saw some villagers that seem to be frozen in time. mannequins more like. anyway, how do you make those?

  7. 1)You got to use bone meal to make flowers and stuff on your res. If you want to change the Biome on your res do
    {/res changebiome} it costs 5k tokens.
2)Either kill your self alot in the /waste or have some one help you farm it at /pvp.
4)No but you can do /map to find out.
5)You are next to a senior staff res they have magic powers.

Your residence is just a block of dirt and grass. You do have to get your own building supplies to have your forest.

    2) how do you get player heads?
You can kill people in PvP (/pvp on /smp6) or buy them from players.

    3) what res flag do i need to disable to prevent visitors from teleporting out of my res?
It doesn't exist. Anyone can teleport out at any time, so people can't trap other players (and for convenience).

    4) is there a list somewhere which says which wasteland outpost is close to a specific biome?
Nope, but you can check the live map (/map) and look from there.

    5) in a port/dock near my res i saw some villagers that seem to be frozen in time. mannequins more like. anyway, how do you make those?
That's a senior staff member's residence (senior staff are OP'd). It's done with command blocks magics so there's no way regular members can do that.

  11. Most has already been answered, still...

Because that's basically how the game works. If you go out into a vanilla world, clear out some dirt / grass blocks and then replace them then you may see grass grow back (this also applies to your res.) but you won't see flowers and such. As mentioned by others: bonemeal is your friend.

If you don't like the kind of flowers which appear then you can change your biome to influence this. For example: making it a flower forrest (iirc that's the name) would probably make all kinds of stuff appear when using bonemeal.

    Edit:

Changing the biome on your residence can be done using /res changebiome. Its not free: it costs you 5,000 tokens. Those can be obtained from /vote'ing and killing enraged mobs.

You can PvP players to try and obtain their heads, but you can also try shops. Some will sell 'm (good example: /v +poof). Of course not everyone does this. My head for example is pretty much non-existent on EMC. You may also want to check out the auction forums; sometimes players auction off a bunch of heads.

  12. Upon examination the port/dock you are talking about happens to belong to the wonderful B4DMAN5IMON! He is a Senior Staff and has access to creative and such. Chances are they are villagers with no AI he spawned in. This is only something SS (senior staff) can do and it is not possible with any regular players :D

  13. I think everyone has covered it pretty thoroughly :D Just adding a few more details that I hope will help.

If you change your res type to Flower Forest (cost tokens which you earn by doing group activities or killing special mobs and mini-bosses), you can grow all flower types except blue orchids with bonemeal on grass blocks. You'd need a swamp biome to grow the blue orchids.
You can make a 2 high flower machine (roses, peonies, lilacs and sunflowers) on any res type. There are several of these you can google from youtube. I use MumboJumbo's. They are all basically a rapid fire bonemeal dispenser.

I have a little shop on smp8 on my 2nd residence (/v khixan 2) that sells mob drops and flowers. All the flowers, vines, saplings, etc are on the 2nd floor. There should be plenty there to get you started :)

In your player settings (ps), head drop must be ON for you to drop your head. Ditto with anyone's head you are trying to get. The PvP arena is the easiest place to do this.

Use livemap to find what biomes are near waste outposts (type /map in game or use link from Community-->Servers tab above here on website). You can tp from town to a specific waste outpost. For example, /waste sw will take you to waste south west outpost. Same with nether. /nwaste sw would take you to nether waste southwest. The center one is just "c".

  14. first of all, thanks for all the replies ^^

regarding question 3. is there a way to block "/v +shop" then? because one of the shops i randomly teleported into via the same command didn't allow me to use it to get out. i had to walk to the sidewalk before i could use it again. unfortunately, it didn't occur to me at the time to get res info. it was only later that i thought tp blocking could be somewhat useful for the forest maze i'm building.

as for number 4. i am aware of the livemap and am actively using it. to be more precise, i was asking if there is like a short reference list so you won't have to check the livemap. like if you're looking for a jungle biome you go to a certain wasteland outpost (i stumbled into it before, but i forgot which outpost it was), for savanna, you go to the center, etc. in any case, i guess i'll just make such a list ^^ follow-up question though, when the wastes are reset, do their biome layouts change?

and yes, fBuilderS got it right. it's B4DMAN5IMON's residence i saw the frozen villagers in. amazing SS powers :D
    607 and khixan like this.
  15. there is no reference list, that is something you would indeed have to do yourself. It sounds like you were either typing the wrong command or just got sent to the same res again. the /v +shop command sends you to a random shop and its possible you can type it 4+ times and get sent to the same res. its very annoying. Most of the shops are usually old derelict places or people that have no shop and are building one. its a very useless command that was made with great intent and recently i saw a staff message telling someone not to tag +mall if they had nothing to sell which was beyond ironic xD The link in my signature will help you find shops, just click the picture.

As far as the waste goes, the biomes do change after every reset. There is a waste for every smp and you can easily access each smps waste from town. you can use /vault to bring items from one smp to another and after you have 5 vault pages it no longer charges you the 10r to open it.

  16. *hears name three times...*

    Hello zk306,

Most of your questions have been answred already I am glad to see.

With reference to your teleportation question, there is a flag called TP. Any player may set this to false, but it stops players being able to teleport into the residence, not out of it.
What you experienced with the "/v +shop" was an attempt to reach someone's res who has this flag set to false.

As for the Villagers you mentioned, these are as some have guessed ArmorStands which have been manipulated by my will, contrary to what some say, no Command_Blocks have been used in the creation of any of these (CB's are not allowed to be used on any SMP)

  17. Maybe unrelated but I can't help share because this has saved me plenty of hours: If you find yourself stuck in a residence while exploring the town and using /v <same res. number> doesn't help to get out then you can always use: /res unstuck. This will teleport you outside the residence you're in and place you right next to it. An ideal option if you need to get out but want to remain in the region to explore it some more.

As said: maybe unrelated to what you were after but figured I'd share anyway.

As of right now: If you're looking for a desert you go to /waste s (on SMP2) and go east. If you need to refill your lava buckets you go to /wnether w (SMP2 again) and you go... I think it was south. Aya & me made a platform there for easy refills.

Finally, if you're looking for a Mesa biome then you'd do well to prepare for some heavy metal ( ) and feast your eyes on my Mesa project. This will soon be obsoleted (wasteland reset) but rest assured that considering its popularity a reboot shall happen! (as soon as I pick a new appropriate accompanying song, which is the most important part of course :D).
