  1. All I would like is a music bot on emc discord

    1 it is easy to add supper easy infact
    2 it would be a nice addition to the emc discord

    So what do you think?

  3. Could you please elaborate a bit on this? Do you have any idea why, when or by whom it was denied? Maybe we could find it. I did a Google search on this forum for it but couldn't find it.

  4. Somewhat good except its gonna be a shoving troll music down peoples throat fest. Or me wanting to listen to death metal while yall want to listen to justin bebier. Either way, listening to music personally is better for me imo

  5. I wouldn't be a decision maker here. But what is a music bot? I have never heard of them before.

    Edit: and maybe suggest a bot if it is so easy?

  6. Basically its connected to voice chat, so I guess if you go into a certain channel you can type commands like \play (song name) and the bot will join the voice chat and play music which you can control from there.

  7. Music bots can join a voice chat channel with people and play music. To play the music, someone has to enter a command to tell it the song. For example: !play Let it Go

    On my Discord servers I have used Fredboat and Rhythm.

    Edit: If one were added, I would suggest making it very clear that the songs played need to fit within EMC rules. The commands for the bot should also be blocked from all channels except the bot channel. (#OtusIsANinjaConfirmed)

  8. Cool, I guess... I don't get the draw, but I haven't experienced it yet.
    Does seem like this would break Youtube's ToS though for any copyrighted music (5B). And both of those bots state that all liability falls to the user - Rythm/Fredboat.
    Do any discord bots have protections built-in to prevent playing copyrighted music? Not that I am expecting any legal consequences, but it seems super sketchy.

  9. All the bot is doing is playing the video from YouTube its like this


    So you go onto YouTube and click on a song and it plays its the same as that but a bot does it and you can have lists of songs that want to be played

    Again, I am not claiming that there will be any legal repercussions to using these bots, but I felt it worthy of pointing out. :)

  14. ??? The music copyright holders have allowed for their content to be on YouTube with the understanding that YouTube's Terms of Service will be enforced (and royalties paid). YouTube's ToS outlines that acceptable use; and arguably, the breaking of that ToS leaves someone legally liable for breaking copyright use laws (for the same reason that radio stations have to pay licensing fees). The Music Bots are passing the buck to the user to keep themselves clean. Again, I am not saying that there will ever be legal consequences to EMC - but it is insane to claim that copyright laws don't exist. Ultimately Aikar/Krysyy's call since they would be the ones installing the bot and hence legally liable.

    Music licensing companies such as ASCAP and BMI have contracts/agreements with YouTube so that the musical artists get paid for the views they get on YouTube. If YouTube allowed people to rebroadcast (against their ToS), they are then unable to appropriately compensate the copyright holders.

    I know that since all of the popular music is on YouTube, that it appears to be free to access and use as we please. Ultimately, YouTube is paying those artists to have their music on their platform. Their business model only makes money when the viewers are on their platform, hence why this is against their ToS.

  15. I haven’t read everything but I think it’s liek the equivalent to just someone playing music loudly and by chance you can hear it thru their mic I don’t think it’s anything bad cuz there bot I have has like 500k+ servers that use it

    As far as I understand US law, It would indeed be technically illegal. It anyway is under the EU copyright law.

  17. Its not just us that use (would) the bot meany other servers use this bot and you can find it im the same place you can get mee6 and the games bot im saying its over 50k servers that have this

    Its not a scetchy thing off some 3rd party websight is from the discord bot websight where it has to be approved before it goes on there websight

    Lots of people use it is on a trusted website by lots of people and it is not difrent to the bots on the discord server already

    Im sure 1 more would not hurt

  19. Chickeneer understands that. There's tons of discord channels that use the bot, yes. However, if Youtube or the companies who own the rights to the songs that are played ever decide to crack down and stop the distribution of music through these music bots, there could be trouble for EMC.

    Would they sue EMC or something similar? Most likely no. Odds are that it would be something along the lines of a cease and desist, saying don't do this again or we will take more serious action.

    Nobody is saying it's a sketchy 3rd party software that will mess things up. Just pointing out that technically it's a legal gray area that could cause trouble for EMC in the future.

  20. I'll look into the details of these bots more to see the limitations involved and determine if this is something that we SHOULD add. There's a lot more to factor in than just copyright...
