  1. I'm not trying to start a fight but I think you would be biased when it comes to this.

  2. I never claimed to not be lol
  3. Well, if we perceive casinos as events, then the advertisements are on a correct channel, if it’s market channel, as that is the one to be used for events as well. However, I personally support forbidding casino advertisements. It has always been a mystery to me, how the server follows PG anywhere else, but gambling. Those advertisements are forced upon person not willing to see them, and turning market chat off isn’t a solution, due to disabling the ability to see shop advertisements altogether too. Maybe, if nothing else, a separate channel for all gambling advertisements, that a player could choose to turn on or off would help.

  4. There are actually 2 suggestions rolled into one ;)

Anyway, I go +1 on the casino advertising, but that's because I've always been very critical about casino's and I don't think they should be actively advertised in-game in the first place. Keep that to the forums.

But sorry to say I have to go -1 on the shop advertising idea.

See, the way I see this going down is that veteran players (read: the players who actually kept the auctions going) will soon grow tired of auctioning. And why shouldn't they; the risk factor has increased dramatically so it's highly likely that if you start your auction at the wrong time (this is also fun for players living in other timezones, great thinking on the part of the staff team! (sorry, sarcasm)) then you'll most likely see it expire or end with a ridiculously low win.

So I wouldn't be surprised if we'll see a shift happening where players will start to ignore the auction section entirely (there's no good money to be made anymore) and start focusing on their shops.

So how am I on server 2 going to learn about the shop on server 1?

There's more than advertising alone: you also know that if you follow up immediately you get to talk to the owner instead of ending up in an empty shop. Which means you might be able to strike a deal or two, and that can add up to the fun.

So, sorry to say, but definitely -1 on that part.
  5. I was thinking this would lead to a huge increase of auctions on weekends at like 5-7 EMC time because everyone's trying to get their auctions noticed by the most people.
  6. thats actually a really fair point that i didnt think about...

  7. yeah but... wouldnt that backfire, because more people posting in the auction thread means less likely hood of it being noticed? so an increase in activity has an equal chance in being seen/buried

  8. Yep, I also thought of that too. The whole thing is completely illogical.

  9. Please tell me how you get your item after you win an auction through the forums. Also, please share how you pay the person through the forums. I’d love to save time and not have to log into the game. You can’t. It’s initiated on forums, but it is absolutely an in game transaction.

Anyway, I think anything within rules should be allowed to be advertised in whichever chat it belongs in, including auctions, casinos, events, whatever you feel like. The three hour rule just needs to be inforced more often so there aren’t complaints. That just about solves everything unless you don’t want to see any of it, in which case you can just turn off chat.
  10. Totally agree, really don't understand why we have to fight over what worked previously than to ban outright

  11. I have been on EMC and economy chat has NEVER been spammy. not one time. Not before the strict rules on advertising auctions(which was the most used and was never spammy) nor was it even spammy during the damn skin competitions that were annoying enough but anything but spammy. The idea on emc that something is spammy is usually that someone wasn't interested in an advert and happened to play at the same time as the person that would advertise for something specific. I have played literally every time zone of emc from primetime around 5pm-11pm emc time to those aussie hours midnight to 9am emc time. I have played in the mornings with the stay at home moms during school and seen many of an emc player play hookie just to help with a project... not once have I seen anything that would be considered spammy in market/economy chat.... which is what should be spammy in a game with an economy. and, get this!!! you can turn it off...
EDIT!!!!! if there is someone that is advertising something you don't want to see /ignore (person trying to do something on emc)
  12. -1 for me. The only reason my shop is getting so much business that it is right now is because I use the economy chat to advertise. So much business that it's hard to keep my shop in stock. I feel that the current rules for shops don't need to be messed with.
    Gawadrolt and Smooshed_Potato like this.
  13. I feel they could possibly add an advert chat that has a cool down of somesort. I.e. if i wanted to advertise an auction/shop/casino i can on the advertisment chat and i would need to wait a certain amount of time before posting in the chat.
  14. literally exactly what market chat is

  15. I
I understand that, but due to the new auction rules and not being able to advertise anywhere this could be a minor fix.
  16. i totally agree as i use the economy chat every so often to advertise something new that had just appeared in my shop
and before the rule change i would use it like once a day to advertise whatever auction i had going

i agree lots of people advertise on economy which is what it is intended to be used for and if they comepletly banned advertising shops or casinos in economy how would you know if somebody just got something new in their shop that you had been looking for i agree that it's too far to ban them completly so for the thread -12345 from me
